I can't take Dead Orbit seriously
I simply cannot take Dead Orbit seriously. The whole premise of their faction is that they're running from the darkness.
New Monarchy wants to rebuild the golden age.
Future War Cult is preparing for what they feel is an inevitable war.
Why would anyone align with Dead Orbit based on their beliefs? Does anyone seriously believe in DO's mission to basically cut and run?
I'm convinced that at minimum 90% of Dead Orbit followers are only so due to the shaders and not the factional beliefs therefore I can't take Dead Orbit nor their followers seriously.
EDIT: So I actually have Revenant and have leveled DO, I just can't find reason to stick with DO...DO = Cowards has just been burned into my mind.

Even the traveller runs from the Darkness. He knows he can't even save himself from it. In every mission the darkness steals your light. So not even the travellers light is strong enough against the darkness.

Wow. You've really thought this through. You know this is a game right? And at the end of this game some giant judge or tribunal isn't gonna come down and lay a smack down of moral judgement because of a faction we aligned with in a game....right? Oh boy...

2 RepliesDead Orbits philosophy is the basis of Battlestar Galactica. It is also the best move when considering we have seen the fringe of the darkness and it nearly wiped us out. Why does the desire to continue the human race seem like a bad thing? FWC: Fools.rush head first into war. NM: This is nothing both a political move. Worry about petty politics in the face of extinction is stupid.

New Monarchy wants to destroy what seems to mirror some form of democracy and toss in a King which would undoubtedly lead to a power struggle between the Speaker and Vanguards against New Monarchy, weakening the forces of the light via a civil war, allowing the forces of Darkness to rally against us, eliminating the last city and traveler. [spoiler]I'm just in dead orbit for the shaders though[/spoiler]

Running is how the Awoken were created and my Warlock is Awoken so makes sense to rep Dead Orbit. Also shaders.

Dead orbits mission is to repopulate in a safer area. They believe the destruction of our homes via the darkness is inevitable. They want to escape the darkness and live to fight another day.

25 RepliesTheir belief is that Humanity's salvation doesn't lie with Earth or the Traveler. You can call it cowardly, or you could see that there is already proof to the concept with the Awoken, who did the same thing when the darkness first came. They seem to be doing alright in the reef. I support the ideals of DO as well as FWC. Why you ask? Simple, those two factions are heavily invested in militarizing humanity, FWC to fight and win future battles, and DO to escape and prosper elswhere. This gives humanity as a whole greater chances of survival. If everyone just said eff it we'll just sit under the traveler and play tower defence with the darkness, then all it takes is one victory to destroy humanity, one successful invasion by the darkness. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. So while it may be seen as cowardice, I'd call it self preservation, and a legitimate strategy given the situation. You can't always win and retreating is sometimes the best thing to do, that is a basic given in war.
