You Killed Crota During The Story, Not The Raid

I've seen many posts explaining how The Taken King won't make sense if you haven't done the Crota's End Raid. So I'm going to explain how you killed him during the story, not the raid. There are two Crotas, his spiritual embodiment that connects him to reality, his senses, and existence and his physical embodiment that holds his soul into a physical and tangible form. But when the wizards were trying to awaken Crota from his realm that exists out of space and time (like the Black Garden), you interfered during the summoning and destroyed the crystal while his soul was still in it, thus trapping him in his realm for the rest of his natural life. So technically you killed Crota by destroying his soul, but since his physical form is in a realm outside of space and time, his physical embodiment survived, thus disconnecting the two. Even though the raid is called Crota's End, you are just literally ending Crota. Crota is dead...sorta, but he doesn't exists within our reality since his physical form is trapped in another reality and he can't cross over to our reality. He is dead in our reality. You are just doing the raid to end his existence in his reality.

You didn't destroy Crota's soul in the story mission, you banished his soul to his netherworld. You only destroy him, body and soul, in Crota's End. Even in The Wakening grimoire states that until you face him and kill him in his netherworld the hive will have a chance to make another summoning crystal and summon him back again.

We didn't destroy the soul gem. We sent it back to Crota's realm. Why do you think we hug the same exact one to summon him during the raid?

      • You banished his soul. In the raid you actually kill him in his own world.

      • Nope. This is wrong. You stopped omi from reviving crota into our world. Essentially stopped his resurrection, but you travel into his world to actually fight him. Ttk runs on the premise that you ran the raid.

        • It specifically states that you killed him with his own sword in the trailer. Sometimes, man. Do people even have ears anymore or what?

          • Nope. You banished his soul from this plane of existence. You killed him during the raid. This is especially apparent based upon the change in Eris's dialogue when you complete the raid.

              • No, during The Wakening story quest in Dark Below, we are stopping the ritual that would waken Crota into our plain of existence, he would be much more powerful and nearly invincible if this was done, so Eris had is stop the Wakening and that's why his soul attacked, he was scared cause he knew we had the power to stop him, when we attack him in Crota's End. We officially end his existence in both our plain and his.

              • "His name is Oryx. The Taken King. And he's coming for for you Guardian. Can you blame him? You killed his son - with his own sword." *insert clip of Crota's End Raid* You are on the right lines. But you're wrong. In the mission on the moon, we destroy Crota's soul. By doing so, we banish him to his own realm. He isn't dead. He just isn't in this realm anymore. Until he regains his physical form, he is locked in his own realm. A deity cannot be killed unless you kill them in their own realm. Being a Hive god, we must enter his dimension. We discover that his true form cannot be harmed by bullets, but only from the edge of an ascendant blade. That is the only way to harm a Hive god, and that is how we kill him. Both raids so far have strong links to the lore, so they are a part of the story.

                • Ummm, nope, way to misunderstand the lore. You severed Crota's connection to our dimension when you destroyed the summoning Crystal holding his soul, you did not kill him. You do not kill Crota until the end of the raid, after you've fought your way into his home dimension and destroyed his physical form with his own sword. Think of it like the Asgardian gods, who can only be actually killed when in Asgard. When "killed" on Midgard (Earth), they just return to Asgard to heal. Or an even better example, for my fellow D&D players, killing demons and devils on the prime material plane. In D&D, if you kill a demon/devil on the Prime plane, they return to their home plane to heal, or reborn as a lower form of devil/demon. The only way to truly kill them is to travel to their home plan and kill them there. Crota fits this example perfectly.

                  • We destroyed his connection to our dimension when we destroyed the crystal. We actually kill him in the raid and are only able to because we weakened him through out The Dark Below. He divided his power among his agents, killing them eliminated those portions of his power. That's why he looked ethereal when the the rest of the hive in his realm looked normal. That and Oryx looks like a "normal" hive too.

Maybe since Eris gives you some of the quests you must kill crita before she gives you the quests.

Technically, you are right. In reality we did much more than kill him. We destroyed his sword - story mission We killed his most trusted warriors like; -The Will (Omnigul) -The Fist (Sardon) -The Hand (Knight Major) -The Heart (Wizard Major) -The Eyes (3x Acolyte Major) -The Blades We banished his very soul to an eternity in his own personal pit And if that weren't enough, we then later ventured into that pit, invaded his personal fortress of solitude, and exterminated his soul. With his own sword. We did to Crota the very same thing that the God-Emperor did to Horus. We obliterated the soul. There is nothing left for even the afterlife, if the Hive even believe in such a thing.

                      • Yes the stone was an embodiment of his soul in the story but all we did was destroy the stone before he got his physical body i dont believe it ever said we killed him just destroyed the stone. It was basically destroy the stone then the soul escapes then we pursue it to the raid then he dies in the raid
