2 RepliesI love Howard Stern. Calling it now, I played since day 1 beta and still no Super G. I premonitionize {just made up that word; patent pending:} I get it before next reset... (!?!)

See, everyone is just fighting over whether or not it's worth freaking out over being awarded a Gjallarhorn by the RNG, and I'm just sitting here with Truth laughing my ass off because nobody is smart enough to pronounce Heimdallr's horn properly. I didn't even freak out over getting Hawkmoon, when I got it. I just clapped my hands and whooped once, because now I have the full Terrible Trio. I was more excited about getting The Last Word than anything else.

Loved it

56 RepliesEdited by l MGW l: 8/13/2015 4:24:30 PMwhy is it bad to get excited over something that makes you happy? i'd rather be a dork than a jackass who tries to bully people for their passions and I'd rather NOT be lumped into a stereotype with the people this Stern is referring to because not all gamers cry like that. But if you would like to be considered a cry-baby gamer-dork than go ahead and team with Stern and fight the injustice that is my post. I celebrated more when I got my vex (pre-nerf, OG OP status) than when I got to rep 260lbs on the flat bench 6 times (my min rep count for anything in the gym), or when I got a material sponsorship to snowboard, or when I was recruited to play D lll lacrosse. does that make me a dork? maybe, but it doesn't make me some un-athletic, unsocial loser like they assume all of us are. EDIT: not bragging about anything, the things i listed are just things people don't assume of a gamer, and I don't personally like the stereotypes put on us. I'm not even 25 yet and have a lot of life to live (hopefully) so I really don't consider mentioning these things as bragging. but go ahead and bash the guy whose trying to fight the stereotypes put on us though, it's nice to know which side of the fence you're on. EDIT: since making this comment I have rephrased the first paragraph to better explain my intent since some of you only read it and skipped the second paragraph all-together, OR decided to focus solely on the second paragraph and ignore the meaning of the post's whole. If you wish to discuss this further you will get responses from my retarded alter-ego.

Overall pretty funny. I wonder though if he holds the same level of contempt for people who freak out when their favorite sports team wins a major title. Just as inconsequential and disconnected from real life in my opinion but generally more accepted than getting excited about a video game. I'd point out also that with the video game there was at least some actual level of engagement as opposed to just watching your favorite team win (or lose). Whatever.

This parody advertisement talks about just thathttp://youtu.be/S6azHxrkA6U Feedback is well appreciated so let me know if we f***ed up in any major way so we can fix it next time

Those reactions were definitely cringe worthy, but howard and his counterpart come off as douchebags more than anything in that video. They basically just called the entire gaming community no life weirdos. THAT was the most cringe worthy part of that entire video.

Lol I got my Ghorn back before people knew it was good

Howard stern no gally having scrub git gud noob. He doesnt even have the khvostov.

3 RepliesI'd find it funnier if he didn't have that old attitude of "Oh he plays games therefore he's a loser because he plays games and isn't out doing what I deem acceptable"
-
2 RepliesHe doesn't understand, we are HAPPY. But "its weird because people who play video games are lazy, unemployed, isolated freaks" so getting happy over a game is dumb. I don't want to live on the planet anymore.
-
3 Replieslmao, too bad it's being nerfed by some idiots.

God I hate us lmao

2 RepliesHoward Stern used to be someone , now talks about video game reactions? Just... wow.

1 ReplyLMAO gotta love Howard Stern and his radio show antics.
-
2 RepliesSour Shoes could literally voice every character in the game. Also, I'm still sans-Ghorn. If it happens anytime soon, my reaction will now include a BabaBooey. If we all did that, HS would embrace our community.

Didn't listen to the audio, but I can kinda see where this is headed in the forum. I'm a 25 year old dude. Have a life, a fiancé, finishing up schooling, and I manage my own music career. However, when I got my first gjallahorn I shouted like a little girl in excitement because I was super stoked. Pretty much everyone I know gets hyped when they get it and nothing is wrong with that (obviously no one needs to drop water works over it). I don't see anything wrong with being excited over an achievement in a game especially since randomly getting Gjallarhorn is often 10X harder then any content for Destiny itself. I'd weigh it about the same as a person getting excited for their favorite sports team to win. The team literally does not matter, the win does not matter, the excitement is artificial. You, unlike the players/coach of the team, are not invested or actually obtaining anything other then bragging rights and a false sense of pride. Another comparison is with movies. A lot of us become excited for the hero/heroin as they accomplish the task they set out to do. We also become emotionally involved in their fictional lives so much that it may bring tears to our eyes. We have gained nothing tangible from becoming that infatuated with the characters, the plot, the lengthy three movie saga, or anything about the movie. However, these people aren't being chastised the same as a video gamer, "nerd", or unique/artsy individual. End rant
-blam!- that guy anyway he is a super tw@ and lacks morals of a dog in heat
9 RepliesI'm 27, got a great career, top notch benefits, a 401k that isn't doing bad and I'm in the process of buying a house. I also enjoy playing video games like, of course, Destiny. We aren't all mouth breathing life wasters that just play games all day. I'm just as likely to be dropping a kayak down a rapid on a Saturday as I am running through VOG.
