Why does everyone hate thorn?
I don't get it. I have seen it all over ye forums of everyone hating thorn and it is just so dumb. Some even say that you shouldn't use it and assume you have no skill if you use it. That is pathetic. If there is a gun in a game and it is good, why wouldn't I use it? Why would I ever use something worse than something else I have? And you act like it is the best gun in the game. There are plenty better and plenty counters to it. I hope you guys will be happy when update 2.0 comes out. What will you whine about then?
After getting bombarded with crap tell me something other than it being a crutch weapon and that people who use it have no skill. It's pathetic that just because you can't counter people who use you blame your deaths in it and call people out for sucking for using it please tell me something I haven't heard a million times

6 RepliesYou are clearly new to this game so let me explain thorn is this gun where it has 9 bullets in one magazine so no matter how bad of a player you are you will not run out of bullets normal hand cannons will take three heads shots too kill someone but thorn will take two, when you hit someone with a thorn shot the burn effect will not let them regen their health so it gives you time to regen you health while they are just sitting there and hoping to find a good spot to hide also when you get hit with a thorn your opponent will easily track where you are and going because the numbers from you burn effect clearly show what direction you are heading, one thorn shot and a Melee will always kill your opponent and finally even if you are using a red death if you get shot by a thorn and you kill them with you read death it will leave you with your shield all the way down

It's the only gun in the game that's shot twice and run away to get a kill 5 seconds later. At least TLW takes more skill than that and if you shoot twice and run away you won't be getting a kill. It's basically a cowards weapon in PvP. In PvE it's great for stopping shield regen on enemies.

People hate thorn mostly because they don't have it or because they can two shot people also because they suck at using it and to be honest you can glitch it and win easy in trials

Because they suck at pvp and suck even more when going against someone with thorn so it makes their vagina hurt even more.

haha, it's not a nerf to thorn, it's a balancing. can't 2 shot in pvp after TTK, and is slightly better in pve.

We should not have a gun that is superior at all ranges, does massive damage and prevent healing for a couple seconds. Not to mention it fires too fast, and it is way too accurate. Basically, this weapon defines the word crutch.

I hate it because I'm sick of it. After a couple of weeks of its reign of terror I wanted to jump off a cliff. Having to hide behind a rock and wait 10 seconds every single time I get shot has gotten really old. And I was the hand cannon guy. That was all I used. Check my grimoire!!! I was THE hand cannon guy. Then I decided to have some variety(currently addicted to the messenger) in my Destiny life. For me at least, I got tired of always using my Hawkmoon, Thorn or Last Word. And in all honesty, if it takes a whole weapon balancing patch to force guardians to bring some variety to crucible, so be it.

I don't hate Thorn per se, I hate the current meta, in which weapons such as Thorn and TLW are over the top fotm.

It's just overused, and there's reasons for that. People often attack the reasons, which are almost one in the same as the fact that it's overused. Bottom line, everybody loves diversity.

7 RepliesTwo words: one word: bullshit. It's the go to gun for scrubs everywhere. It keeps the enemy from getting their health back for way too long and lets you know where they are running to if they flee. Two shot headshot under one second ttk. you can peek shot out of cover, get two shots off, get back behind cover. It really is just op and if you disagree sorry but you're incorrect. Just look at the usage. Thing is at 50% but suros was such a -blam!-ing issue with bungie at 20%. I can't begin to describe how much this gun makes me rage. Those kids that get 5k points in control with thorn and shotty make me laugh so hard though. That setup alone takes close to no skill and they play in an objective game mode going for kills. Like ur soo gooood m8 Tl;dr THE scrub gun

Thorn has ridiculous range (better than some scout rifles), has very little recoil, has a quick fire rate, decent reload speed and mag size, and sets up lethal damage in 2 shots giving it the lowest consistent ttk out of all exotics (other than NLB and universal remote). One bullet stops the enemy from healing for quite a bit of time due to mark of the devourer. The DOT can give the user cheap kills after hitting two headshots and running away or even getting killed themselves. There is no downside to using thorn. It is a head and shoulder above every other weapon in the game. Nothing about its handling balances its damage or vice versa.
