For those not caught up with TTK
From my understanding of the things theyve said,they won't allow upgrade paths for anything before ttk so all gear minus exotics cannot be used once the level cap is raised.
Messenger? Fate bringer ? Spear? Ash factory? Your raid armors? All useless since they refuse to let us upgrade them,forcing us to regrind all over again for the new gear.
You can either quit or forget about the gear you grinded hundreds of hours for.
I'm expecting this to be a yearly thing since the same bullshit mentality can be used about every piece of gear in the game . "WoW DOES IT SO BUNGIE CAN TOO" is the mind set these fan boys have.
They fail to -blam!-ing realize WoW isn't -blam!-ing destiny and destiny is not -blam!-ing WoW.
Its ridiculous they're making everything prior to ttk meaningless.
HEY GUYS! WOULDNT IT BE COOL IF WE BASICALLY DID A HARD RESET OF THE GAME,MAKING EVERYTHING YOUVE DONE POINTLESS AND ALL VANILLA CONTENT AND DLC CONTENT PRIOR TO TTK POINTLESS? WE WANT YOU TO FORGET ABOUT THE GAME WE MADE AND RESTART WITH THIS NEW EXPANSION.

It's one big -blam!- you to people who have stuck with the game and a -blam!- you to any new players. I wonder how they'd feel grinding through vanilla and dlc content to only be met with a wall when they jump into ttk,forcing them to quit or restart the grind and having to forget about everything they grinded for.
Vog? Pointless.
Vanilla game? Pointless.
Crotas end? Pointless.
House of wolves? Pointless.
Trials? Pointless
Everything before ttk? Pointless
Everything at the end of next year including ttk? Pointless.
Taking loot whoring out of a game that is built on collecting loot and increasing your armory makes the game pointless.
I want the gear we can obtain to be expanded upon,not limited and wall off everything pre-ttk to make us either leave or leave all pre-ttk gear behind.
Edit: Since a lot of people don't know how to read or understand paragraphs and sentences i'll spell it out here and address some posters statements:
I was looking forward to the dlc and planned on buying it until I heard all of my hard work in year one amounts to almost nothing.
My gripe is that walling off everything from vanilla+2 dlc's from being used in the future is ridiculous. I want the gear to be ADDED TO,not locked off and have the gear pool we're allowed to use from be decreased more and more at the end of the year due to bungie not adding in ways to upgrade gear.

With greens being better than the weopons that we have now, it will add a shitton of weopons to the mix and armor as well. Destiny devs themselves said theyre focusing more on the rpgmmo aspect of the game. There is always a hard reset with cod every year which you have worked for all year. What the difference here?

That gear wasn't always impossible to get. I usually played it slow and it wasn't too hard to get into the flow of new weapon/gear choices. At first, etheric light was hard to get. Then IB came out, and I got all three characters to level 34. U look at my characters now with a grimoire score of 3625, and that's because the game is not a burden, it is something to be enjoyed. I enjoyed the game enough to grind that much!Alongside many others, I thought that the way to get to the maximum light level was pretty well made. I do think a little more should've been offered, but I had a great time out of what I got! TTK is one that I'm questioning, but idk why. I enjoy the game and playing with my destiny-made friends! So if u enjoy playing the game and being with friends, then buy TTK. It doesn't matter if the content is as good as u hope, as long as u enjoy the game. Sry 4 the long post...;)

I think Bungie just realized that they've made their Weapons and Armor for Year 1 very good and that it would be very difficult for them to create weapons and armor in TTK that are better than the ones currently available without being too overpowered. Their solution was to force people to use TTK weapons and armor instead of old gear. I'm okay with this solution. For me, it would just give me a sense of purpose in the game again. What I don't like is having to dismantle old gear that I've used over and over just so I can make room for new items. I wish they would increase the storage capacity of the Vault. ~[i]KKorrupt[/i]~

Giving people the option to do it was going to cause a backlash when it was taken away. They were never going to allow this to happen forever. You can not expect to be able to take everything with you forever. Designing around this would get harder and harder. It's not being a fanboy recognising this. It's common sense.

I think all the resetting was so the legendary weapons in TTK could feel more balanced. For example right now, people who joined in HoW are locked out of getting a final round spear and it wouldn't be fair. There was so much that Bungie changed in the past year with weapons that when they tried to fix them, it just created more problems. Like will reforming weapons still be an option? Or maybe I could just be wrong and weapon balance would be worse than what it is now :[

I played the game to enjoy the content with friends. Is annoying the guns are going and I personally think I should be able to upgrade them or a number of them. However what ttk offers looks positive.

They've had mixed results with new weapons from the two expansions thus far - people still lean heavily on raid gear from VoG despite CE and POE gear supposedly being as good or better. Chalk the fact that VoG weapons are too good up to poor foresight if necessary, but the problem remains. If they were to allow us to progress with our current gear it would be more of the same. People would complain that all the new guns are garbage and that there aren't really any rewards worth chasing. We'd be doing different levels running around with exactly the same guns and (for the most part) gear. Why would they (Bungie) bother to put any sort of imagination into weapon design at all if this trend is likely to continue? Fact of the matter is - they created a problem and are taking steps to not only fix it this time around but to set a precedent that can be expected going forward with future content releases. I cant fault them for needing to make a hard and potentially unpopular decision but let's not forget that the same people who designed all the awesome gear we currently have are going to be designing the new shiny hotnesses in TTK for us to chase. Yes, you spent (potentially) a large amount of time chasing the gear you have now, but isn't the gear collection aspect part of the enjoyment? If you have nothing to chase in the new content, will that make you less or more likely to want to invest time into playing it more than say once or twice? Is anyone who has ever played a loot-centric RPG-esq game even a bit surprised about previous gear being phased out?

So using your logic: In 10 years, we won't care about Destiny, so how about we just stop playing now? When we're 60 years old, we probably won't care about video games, so how about we just sell our consoles right now? It's all about the experience. You had fun in year 1. You will have fun with the massive armada of new guns in year two. Stop crying cuz the minute you play TTK you won't care about your Fatebringers and VoCs anymore.

It was a waste of time reconnecting with old friends and making new friends. It was a waste of time learning to work with others in a team to achieve success in raids. It was a waste of time helping to build a community in my clan, and teach people how to raid. It was a waste if time enjoying myself diving into the Crotas end raid blind on release with these friends that I made. All that was a waste of time because my gear isn't going to matter in a few weeks. I call bollocks to that. ---------------------- Edit cause I had more to say I expected this to happen when TDB dropped and there wasn't a way to upgrade gear. Even then with new fear that could be maxed out to 331 people were still running fatebringer and other vanilla weapons. And ignoring the new content. This is what they want to stop. So for the last few months they've given us etheric light so we can have a last hurrah with our year one guns. On that note I believe etheric light was a mistake as it let me ignore the new guns in the game. I think I have made a total of 6 kills with weapons that I got from Poe (queens chest) and 4 with weapons from variks. All because I have upgraded my favourite gear. FB, WoC, PR and a few others. If I already have everything I want weapons wise all I need is the new armour to hit lv 34 oh wait no I don't cause I can ascend that too. The armour being acended was cool as it let us customise our look instead of every mofo looking the same in Crota armour or VoG armour now we see a mix. (Trials and iron banner also helped this as well)

If Destiny continues for 10 years do you really want to still be using Fatebringer, Blackhammer, and Gjallarhorn? If we continue with the same gear we have it will make all future content pretty lame given we wouldn't care about new weapons. Just move on and enjoy yourself. If you aren't having fun, do something else that is. Play for fun, don't treat it like a required work. Can't say pointless when Destiny is for entertainment. And I have been thoroughly entertained. Call me a fanboy, but I am happy to and ready to move on and experience the new year. Plus the gear we got in the past was to give us the ability to do the activities available. New activities=new gear. You should be too.

2 RepliesI know it's a DLC but it's pretty much a new game. Think about it, every year you buy next call of duty and have to hard reset from rank one even if you've hit max prestige you have to restart on the next cod with new weapon models and maps. Everything you do in the before cod you still reset. What's the big deal ?

In response Zeltice engaged Laltorx and his High Fleet in orbit around the rogue star, Datatos. On the verge of defeat, Zeltice execute a Keyes loop and went toe to toe with Laltorx's flagship, The Deceptor. Laltorx's ship was quickly overwhelmed due to it lacking a point defense system. In the aftermath of the battle Oryx became High Orbitor and refocused his Taken army and thus began the eleventh age of reclamation. Hope that clears up any story issues.
