This was a rant post I made a few months back calling out the people complaining about Year 1 legendaries not ascending into Year 2 quality. It became quite popular, with many criticizing me for calling Destiny an "MMO". Whatever you think it is, it was never the intended point of the thread, but quickly became it. I shut the post down due to how each side would viciously attack each-other, and how it just got annoying after a while.
It seems I was right about some things, and wrong about others in the end. About a couple weeks after my post, the first livestream for TTK revealed Exotic Blueprints, and how not all Exotics would ascend into Year 2 (Though it still seems to be up in the air if they will ascend eventually, but until then R.I.P MIDA)
I also said it wouldn't really matter, as the legendaries would be replaced with better guns. I think I was right on that one, as I am loving the style and capability of these new guns, although I know some would probably think the opposite.
The new additions in TTK are a mixed bag for me in total, but overall I think the good outweighs the bad.
In the end, I really enjoy TTK, and I'm glad that fan attitude towards no Year 1 legendaries going in didn't destroy the community attitude. The guns are great, the story is great, the soundtrack is great, and the overall experience is great. I'm glad Bungie put all their effort into this and really delivered an experience worth the price of admission.
Hopefully this post dies.
But after the constant necrobumps over the last couple months, I doubt it.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand Bungie adds microtransactions.
In the same day.
Well.

1 ReplyWe should really have dmx as our community manager. 😟

3 RepliesHow long until we get the ability to just reskin our weapons for vanity purposes?
-
Not that I care or anything because honestly, I don't, I'll buy TTK either way. But not all MMO's do that, do they? Like Battle Field 4. They've released many new toys, gadgets, and guns, but all the old vanilla guns are still useful in multiplayer as well. Right?

9 RepliesWhat are you waiting for dismantle your fatebringer, VoC and black hammer now then. Yea, didn't think so.

1 ReplyI just got the hopscotch pilgrim a few days ago, got the perfect roll on it and it just feels right to use. I've put away my exotic hand cannons in the crucible for it. It has quickly become my favorite gun in the game I'm going to be sad to be unable to bring it to what ever new damage level comes in TTK but I'll still use it in crucible at least Hopefully a carbon copy of it comes later on down the long road

2 RepliesThe only way that not being able to ascend your year one weapons will be acceptable is if they expand the loot table to compensate. The loot table in Destiny is really small compared to traditional MMO's.
-
2 RepliesRemember when Bungie stated they wanted people to have lasting stories and attachments to their gear ... gear that evolved and improved alongside the player and his/her adventures? Yeah, they didn't really mean that.
-
1 ReplyAlright. I'm fine with them trying to get you to move on, and how you can't ascend your year one weapons. As it makes you try a new variety, but that is the EXACT thing when the DLC's like HoW and TDB came out. All of the vendors in the tower got their weapons replaced. You could NEVER buy those weapons again. The endgame content was kept, but the endgame content increased greatly when HoW came out. Before, it was the raids and iron banner. Guess what happened? People hated it. Those amazing raid weapons? People still kept it. The fatebringer and VoC? People still kept it. Hell, the original vanguard weapons like shadow price and zombie apocalypse wf47 can outclass MANY of the new weapons that replaced destiny's original arsenal. Remember that before HoW, weapons couldn't be ascended other than exotics? Well their planning to repeat it again. Now you probably think I disagree with the idea of all year one weapons becoming obselete, with the exception of exotics...hopefully. I don't. I like how bungie wants us to try new weapons, and try to move on from our originals like the fatebringer, but cmon, do they have to do it like this? Seriously, if they mess up on the weapons that will replace the ones we have now, Destiny will likely get severely damaged. Now, on the other hand, if they make the new weapons awesome, There's a pretty damn good chance Destiny, along with the taken King, the massive patch, Nolan North voicing the ghost, all those kickass changes (that I personally love), will become the game that we've all been waiting for. Eh, I'm still hopeful, many others are, but i really think they should've found another way.

I completely agree.

1 ReplyWell maybe u need to change that light switch on your Ethernet cable because if u have a lag switch that's wrong then stuff ain't gonna work right :D
-
You've basically summed up an argument some ignorant dude on the forums is trying to pull on me. I'll this to him, so someone agrees
-
2 RepliesHonestly Destiny is being pulled in the wrong way by the more obsessive players. People liked Destiny because it was something fresh. Let them continue to make fresh things. There will be OP weapons in TTK too and you'll feel great when you get them.
-
Aside from perks (which can be outdone depending) I really don't care if my shit gets outdated. I really only want Specific guns right now for their perks, which again can be outdone by any gun depending.
-
Day one player and I'm actually glad they are doing this. If not, everyone (including myself) would just keep ascending their fatebringers and VOC's. I'm looking forward to leveling and playing with different guns.

6 RepliesSo I have a month to make my Fatebringer a 365?
-
This game is a MMOFPS. And yes, it would be stupid for Bungie to not let you ascend gear, so stop whining, a because they will implement it eventually if not, right away.
-
2 RepliesLike I said before, my main concern is we will all end up looking the same like when TDB was out, literally could find 10 people on the tower with the same combination as you. As long as there is a good variety of gear then I have no problem with it
-
I don't know why are so many people are crying over a virtual gear
-
Move on people. I would be happy if I were you. I am tired of using certain weapons like fatebringer and Gjallarhorn because they are so much better than others. This makes for more variety in playstyles and weapon choice. I love it.
-
The only thing I don't like is that I won't use praetorian foil AA much anymore.
I'll miss u bby :(
-
Edited by The Elike: 8/7/2015 12:48:13 AMI don't see the problem. Nothing is being forcibly dismantled. You get to keep all the weapons. They just aren't going to be top tier anymore. All I see when people complain is "I'M AUTISTIC!" (Because they can't handle change)
-
3 Replies
3. Every major MMO does this. This is not an uncommon thing. Get used to it.
its not normal for MMO's that you have to waste a insane amount of time to level up your drops so you can use em at their full potential , once you have invested tons of hours in said items it feels like your efforts are being negated , while on items that you get already complete you are more likely willing to replace em on a regular base
-
People need to realize that they will always be able to find new favorites.
-
8 RepliesIf they made better gear people would want to use that gear. Both raid just became completely irrelevant. Glad i didn't preorder
-
OP is OP in his logic...he must be nerfed! 😀 it's nice to see some people here aren't fools, bring on TTK! Good post.

1 ReplyBut I just got fate bringer. Screw it im still using it.
