Bungie is about to get what they are asking for! (Year 1 Exotic edit)
Edit 3: Soooooo, now that year 1 exotics are included in the "left behind leper colony," except for a select few year two versions, how does everyone feel? That one just rubs it in even more. Funny how even more people (some who laughed at this very post and others like it) are coming out of the woodwork and jumping on the ascension bandwagon now.

So, Bungie wants us to try new things, new weapons, new gear? All the stuff I spent hundreds of hours grinding for and perfecting will be obsolete in TTK?
Yeah. I will do just that. I will be playing Fallout 4, Battlefront, Dark Souls 3 and a few others with new guns and gear.
Want to force me to leave my old weapons and gear behind?!? DONE!
There is ABSOLUTELY no reason to play this game right now. Anything you get will be worthless in a month. OH and if you do get something awesome... Don't worry. The nerf police will squash it into obscurity like they did with Suros, and Vex. Next on the chopping block are The Last Word, Thorn, Icebreaker, Gjallarhorn and any legendary with perks that were actually good.
But don't worry, you can still represent your OG status with that super awesome emblem. SOOOOOO much better than a GUN or PIECE OF ARMOR. I seem to remember some B.S. quote from Bungie at launch about how certain pieces of gear would make people go "wow, that player has done something awesome!" Yeah, that emblem will really nail that feeling.

Edit 2: Appreciate all the support and constructive comments. You all got this back on the trending list despite the mysterious hiatus yesterday. The forums feel like mobs with pitchforks... Keep the feedback coming, we may get a message through. As for the few cynics who replied, thanks for making me think about it a bit more but nothing has changed. This step pushed me off the cliff.
Also, this isn't WoW. It just isn't. The comparisons are unmerited. WoW is a button masher facade on top of a gear management game. Destiny is an FPS with gear and stats.

10 RepliesThe armor and weapons were supposed to show the accomplishments you've done in the game. That was part of what drew me into this game. That aspect has been destroyed. The gear you get from TTK will only be relevant until next year September. Do I want to work for gear that I can only use for one year? No. Do I want to work towards gear that I can use forever but have to decide what I want to keep based on limited space? I could live with that.

2 RepliesOne of the many reasons I left Destiny for ESO. No endless hours grinding a weapon. Followed by more time grinding the upgrades. Followed by more time grinding to get some random mat to fully upgrade it. Just to have it made useless in the next DLC, or Bungie nerf it.

Of course there's no reason to play RIGHT NOW. For gods sake move on. Your weapons can still be used if you love them that much. Fatebringer? Still usable. VoC? Still usable. Just remember that any weapon can be used in the crucible. Sure it's a little weird, but we have whined and complained about every damn thing that we wanted, didn't have or what's going to happen. But when the TTK comes out? Many will return, I sure as hell will, because when year two begins, almost ALL of Destiny will have changed.

Now I know one of two things will happen either everyone that is "leaving" will be proven right in doing so. OR their one friend that went ahead and bought it will EXPLODE them with messages of TTK is wayy better than Launch Destiny and slowly the people that left will quietly buy it and either love it or hate it. Either way we can't judge until it's been released, we can however put our guards up and see if it explodes into greatness or listen to it fart and die.

Hour i can never get back to have it all mean nothing and start again. I love this game but it could have been so much more with a story and a reason to play. Shame on you bungie.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. We should be able to upgrade Raid legendary gear all we want. If Bungie wants us to use different weapons they should make better ones

26 RepliesAgreed. Basically the way this boils down is that Year 1 just never happened. Its being swept under the rug completely and they are phasing out as much of it as possible. They even outright replaced Peter as the voice actor for the Ghost, which was a "big thing" a year ago. There is no sense of actual progression with this game and everyone who has been paying into it essentially paid for an ongoing Beta Test, where TTK is the actual game that was supposed to be released originally. The only people who are going to be playing this game now are the newbies picking it up for the first time and the ignorant morons who can't seem to get enough of their deluded addiction and just keep on throwing money at the screen like Luke Smith predicted. These people aren't Gamers, they're -blam!-ing puppets.
