Hopscotch> messenger
Hopscotch js better for a simple reason.
Hopscotch can have identical base stats to the messenger if you role for small bore but with 3 extra in the mag and higher aim assist. So its better there and then you can chose exactly the perks yoy want(including messenger perks if you enjoy those). Either stick with the messenger ones or go for outlaw/reactive reload and it's damage output is waaaaaay higher.
Mines currently can take any guardian(besides Ram warlock) down with 4 shots via a kill- reload- 51 headshot damage.
You can role smallbore for identical base stats. Or you can sacrifice range for full stability. More options for your playstyle
So yes, messenger is not as good. But waaaaaaaaaaaaay easier to get for good PVPers. Grind is real for hiphop

33 RepliesYou sir are underestimating pretty much everything about the messenger and overrating the hopscotch. Yeah it's a good gun but there's a few things you're missing. 1. Hopscotch can't roll the same base stats as it has very much less range and doesn't have the capability of rolling that kind of range without reducing something else. 2. The reason for third eye is not to constantly be aiming down sights because you have the perk. It's to be capable of keeping your situational awareness when you're already engaged in a gunfight so you don't get shot in the goonies from behind while shooting someone else down range. 3. Due to the range difference at the maximum range hopscotch is not capable of the 2 burst kill anymore but the messenger not only has the range to remain able to do this but also has headseeker which will help you be able to do this more regularly. In the mid-range game I agree hopscotch and messenger are pretty much identical but the awareness of Third Eye for the close range awareness mid fight and the base range/headseeker for the maximum range engagement make Messenger the better overall gun for any situation and in the close/mid/long levels of engagement messenger wins 2/3 of those pretty readily.

The hopscotch can 2 burst most guardians with 4 crits and 2 body shots (204 damage)

8 RepliesI disagree. It's stability is only marginally higher and with head seeker you can go for body shots and use the recoil to your advantage. Hopscotch's lower range also decreases it's stability advantage; you might be more accurate but you do less damage. Perfect balance is an extinct perk that has no drawbacks. One that you can't get on Hopscotch. Hopscotch can be rerolled but messenger basically has the perfect roll for pvp already AND has perfect balance which hopscotch will never get. It's not a bad gun by any means. But to say it is objectively better than the messenger is not accurate. I think they are about even.

5 RepliesI have just picked up the hopscotch. Its on my hunter but need some advice for the rolls. Should I keep the one I have or re roll. Any kind guardians out there willing to give me some advice?

I loved messenger. Although when I received my hopscotch, I got a near perfect roll my first try: third eye/braced frame/hidden hand. Sure enough it had a scope that I hated (the red dot that vision of confluence has[not the ranged one]). So after maxing it out I thought I might want go for head seeker. After 30 rolls or so I got feeding frenzy/braced frame/head seeker. Played with it for a while, I enjoyed it, but I noticed that I never really used the head seeker as its recoil is laser accurate. Me, being the reforge addict I am, re rolled again for feeding frenzy/small bore/hidden hand. I've been lovin this gun for a few weeks now, it honestly feels like I'm shooting a laser.

I just love the messenger. I have two and two quick burst will put any one down. But yeah it does come down to play style. I use the red dot sight, headseeker, and perfect balance. I can take out sniper from across the map too. But it's your play style. You can say hip hop is better but you just saying that cause your good with it. Everybody entitled to their own opinions because of their experience with the weapon.

My game is glitched so any legendary pulse rifles don't make my controller vibrate, so I don't use them. It may sound like a stupid excuse it's just I honestly hate firing weapons that don't vibrate, it's really weird

I ascended my hopscotch after a reroll. It's useless at close range but I guess that's why I'd run shottie with it. Eh I'm not really a range player though. Could be really handy in trials I'm thinking depending on the map

I have both and agree that hopscotch is better because it's customizable and stability can be maxed out. Third eye if a wasted perk especially if you have the hunter helmet that has the third eye perj on it.
