I am not knocking anyone here but I seem to be reading an argument on the forums that goes something like this :-
" Fallout 4 will be better than Destiny because, wow, did you see E3 ?" and which then goes on to say that Fallout 4 will be the Destiny "Killer"..
But how do you know ?
I loved Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas but what is it, exactly, about Fallout 4 that makes people think its going to be so good ?
Shown at E3 ?. Err, wasn't Destiny...and didn't that turn out quite the different game..
It has a story ?..Err, does it ?.. You wake up in a vault, you craft a few things, you go here and there doing stuff...which doesn't exactly set it apart from 3 or New Vegas ...I mean, its hardly an original story is it ?..(and yes I admit originality in video games can be kind of hard)
Its got good graphics ? Questionable when you compare with with Destiny
It won't need constant patching and amending/buffing/nerfing/updating ? ..Err, I am pretty sure my copy of Fallout Las Vegas was a buggy glitchy mess at times
Its not made by Bungie ? Okay, I'll give you that one..
Its a full game and the same price as Destiny's expansion.. And I will give you that one as well..
But why do you think Fallout 4 will "beat" Destiny ?..or perhaps you don't ?..Or, and whisper it quietly, you have room in your life for more than one game ??..
Just interested..
Edit : Thanks for the variety of replies. Very interesting and thoughtful compared with the inane responses I occasionally get. Obviously a thread for intelligent people lol!. Thanks guys!

Im buying both...

You can't compare the two the taken king is out in september so by the time fallout is out it will really be battling against star wars, call of duty etc.
-
Fallout will achieve an above average rating
-
It's not going to be the Destiny killer. How can it? The games are very different and Fallout doesn't contain any multiplayer aspects. So if you wanted to play by yourself, sure Fallout is a good place to go. But what happens when you get bored of playing alone? You go back to your multiplayer games. They're hardly even competing.
-
7 RepliesFallout 4 isn't a multiplayer focused game with MMO aspects. Do not compare two very different games and say one will beat the other. On the other hand, people said about ESO, how did that work out?
-
4 Repliesfallout sounds like just a bunch of hype. i need my questions answered before i invest that kind of money: how many times do i have to beat the game in order to get all the items? do the decisions i make in the game affect the outcome of the story or am i just along for a scripted ride? will a change in play style significantly alter my game experience like it does when i switch from titan to warlock? how many attempts do i get each weak to complete the missions? what's the limit to how much currency i can hold at any given time? how many expansions will it take before i get a solid story? is there some type of scoring system so i can brag to all my friends how much of a veteran/badass i am?

7 RepliesDon't get me wrong, I really enjoy myself on Destiny, but fallout is just on another level. It's quailty, gameplay, story, content - everything is so much better. People are aloud to prefer Destiny though, but when they say Destiny is an 'all round' better game it makes me laugh, because it just isn't whatsoever. Destiny is a weird one, the game itself isn't even that good, it's just really addictive.
-
2 RepliesIs f4 a multiplayer game? Destiny wins then
-
I can't really say either way - they're very different games. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that Todd Howard never suggested that I throw money at the screen.
-
Fallouts auto rifles actually can kill someone.
-
War..... war never changes
-
Dude, the Fallout 4 will kill destiny threads are over lol
-
2 RepliesYou could make a game based entirely off of Sonic The Hedgehog erotica fanfiction and it would still have a more complete and coherent story than Destiny. Fallout 4 will be superior in almost every way, except for multiplayer versus and that's only because FO4 doesn't have it.
-
Fallout 4 has no online how can it be compared to destiny ? Argument invalid
-
Because you won't have to pay $40 to keep playing it.

2 RepliesWhile Bethesda games are glitchy, in my experience they aren't game breaking and are still enjoyable. When it comes to graphics, well I've never been swayed when it comes to a games graphics. When it comes to story Bethesda games always have had story. Main story, side quests. Lore that's all in the game. While Fallout will more then likely have me playing it for a month or two without the need for other games, the mindless repetitiveness of Destiny makes it easy to get back into.
-
Because "War... war never changes"
-
The one thing that keeps me in Destiny still? The friends i've made here and the group i play with. Its more social time than any other game i've played... I will leave Destiny when Fallout 4 comes out... maybe for even a month... but i will still swing in and play, and after a couple hundred hours of Fallout I will be back here with Destiny, and the fireteams that i have so much fun with doing the same things over and over...
-
Fallout 4 will probably beat Destiny because everyone will have played through all the TTK content by the time it comes out. Sure we will all come back to Destiny to do the weekly reset stuff, but other then that the content will all be played out.

Edited by SkintightJeebers: 7/21/2015 6:36:24 PMFor me, Bethesda just hits a sweet spot, there isn't a singular reason why I love their games, it's just a combination of everything. Morrowind still stands as my favourite game of all time, I love that game. Destiny will have a greater longevity than pretty much all new games but other games will potentially make you feel more, that would be my guess to why people are hyping over F4. As for killing Destiny? No, that won't happen, the only thing that will potentially kill Destiny = Bungie.
not hating on Destiny BTW, great game
PS. You always make threads that get loads of comments lol.

"Shown at E3 ?. Err, wasn't Destiny...and didn't that turn out quite the different game..[?]" Bethesda has a very good reputation for delivering what they promise- sometimes with quirky bugs, I'll admit- but they do release what they show. Bethesda didn't talk about ANYTHING F4 related until 6 months before release, and have said the game is basically done- this is a little different than most previews at E3. Look at the E3 trailer from Bioshock Infinite before it was released. That entire sequence never appeared in the final game. That's very normal for E3 preview demos. The games are still in development and change. Bethesda doesn't usually do this, and their tack record is pretty sold for RPG's.

1 ReplyI honestly remember my friends and numerous sites saying that Destiny would be akin to WoW, Halo, and Fallout all rolled into one. That is why I invested so much into this game. But in the last three months or so, all the problems or gripes I've been ignoring have risen up to stare me in the face. Don't get me wrong, this game is more dangerous than Meth, and I may never be fully weaned of it. However, once Fallout 4 graces my Xbox I will likely drop Destiny unless friends have a convincing argument to join them again. Fallout's freedom has always been the main thing I've been drawn to. That's why DLC's like The Pitt (Fallout 3) or Dead Money (Fallout: NV) bothered me the way they did. I was stripped of weapons and armor I enjoyed, which was okay I guess, but then the areas were bordered by some noxious gas/mechanic that prevented/hindered full exploration. Sure, if you risked horrible death to reach that last silver bar or crimson casino chip, you'd reap the rewards in the end. But sometimes that trial and error to find the right path lead to countless lost minutes (or HOURS) that could have been used somewhere else. As to replayability after main/side quests were done, I took a page out of my buddy's little brother's (disturbing) book: I create crime scenes in game. I may stalk someone through Megaton and kill them quietly in some dark corner, then adorn their corpse with a teddy bear or some other innocuous item. Sometimes I plant evidence on someone else. Sure, there's no actual justice system to take them away as I laugh like a hyena. But that doesn't matter. I am the greatest serial killer in the Wasteland, and I'm still a Paradigm in the eyes of the public.

Only read the title but my answer is down to 2 words. Those words are price and content

You wanna know the difference? Fallout 4 has no affiliation to Activision, and was only revealed once the game was pretty much complete, so you can expect a full game that hasn't been sliced into DLC. You think Bungie would've given a fan a free game for sending in bottlecaps? Also, Fallout 4 is a game people have been waiting for a long long time. It won't kill Destiny, but it'll definitely draw sales, especially given it costs the same, which is pretty -blam!-ing huge....

1 ReplyI've never played fallout, so I was wondering: Is it an FPS or 3PS, does it have PvP, and does it have raid activities?
-
Destiny is a "Merry go Round" you play the same bounties, same PvP maps same strikes day after day after day........ Fallout 4 "OPEN WORLD" and if you have played 3 and New Vegas you know this to be a true open world, go where you want and do what you want....when you want. I have played them all 1,2 ,3 and New Vegas and have been anticipating and waiting for this game to become a reality. Some times I look at my time spent on Destiny and wonder "why" why did I waste all that time doing the same thing over and over. I have God knows how many hours into Skyrim and Fallout 3 and NV and never once questioned "why" everytime I started a new game I played a different way, and had a different experience. With Destiny you can start over BUT it is the same repetative grind. Fallout 4 WILL end Destiny for me ********* 11/10/2015 *********
