Gjallorhorn is virtually useless when trying to kill Atheon unless you want to risk taking damage and dying during the fight - I know there are those who use it for Atheon Hard but I am not one of them.
Gjallorhorn is terrible for Public Events on the Moon - due to small blast radius.
Gjallorhorn is terrible for some POE encounters due to the way rockets proximity explode due to being killed by the architects rather than proximity to enemies. I know this is a game defect but still it sux to die for this reason.
Gjallorhorn works best for Nightfalls and Strikes but not for POE or PVP - I know some love to use their Gjallorhorn for PVP but let's face it there are better choices for PVP simply due to blast radius alone.
I have no issues with the upcoming Gjallorhorn nerf because Gjallorhorn fires and reloads faster than every other rocker launcher. I am ok with a reduction in Wolf Pack damage so long as Gjallorhorn remains an exotic but let's face it there are many better choices for some engagements than the current Gjallorhorn. I am not even sure the Gjallorhorn should even be called an exotic weapon now simply because it has such a small blast radius. There was a time when the Gjallorhorn was a true exotic but only because there were no other launchers with the same fire and reload rates but this is not the case any longer.
I think Bungie should rework the Gjallorhorn to make it back into an exotic by making the following changes:
1. Fire 2 Gjallorhorn rockets at the same time with reduced Wolf Pack damage based on pre-nerf damage values.
2. Reduce the fire and reload rates by 50%.
These changes would increase the damage output and elevate the Gjallorhorn back into exotic status without making it too OP but let's face it an exotic weapon has to be OP in order to be exotic otherwise it's just taking up space in our vaults.

Right? It's about that dragon's breath!

Well you just proved you don't know to use Gally because everything you just mentioned it is perfect for.

I rather like Truth

Useless when trying to kill Atheon? That is beyond full retard, and you should NEVER go full retard.

In PoE the Ghorn is great for the bosses, certain Majors and the VIP. Sure, some random small fry might get too close and detonate it. Too bad, same problem for any other rocket with the perk. That can happen in the Nightfalls as well. But even in that case, it'll clear adds for a moment, which is good as well. However Ghorn is nothing but a burner in PoE. It speeds up bosses, who are bullet sponges. That's all. Makes sense to use a weapon of mass destruction against an iron skinned enemy. For Atheon it's not too great, but a high risk/reward. Snipers would be a better choice but not everyone can snipe well. Ghorn is a Crota kneeler. We all know this. But for the Wolfpack, not the damage output. In PvP it's one of the top rocket launchers. Truth wins by far, but the perks surely get it up there. Ghorn is what you'd expect an exotic to be. It makes one feel powerful. However the lfg filters thought it was the only choice, which it is not. People do not seem to get that.

5 RepliesI wanna clearify this just because a weapon is an exotic doesnt mean it has to be op. The only reason why the gun is considered an exotic is because it has a special perk on it and has a very distinctive look..... and truth screws you over in pve alot more then g horn why cuz proximity just to clear that up it blows up before hitting a target if something even near you you shoot truth boom goes the gaurdian. G horn doesnr have proximity it has to hit th target to blow up (this is why its good on bosses because it has direct damage as opposed to truth which blows up before hitting the target). So yeah ghorn is still better for almost all if not every situation. All truth has over ghorn in pvp is proximity.

4 RepliesSo... because you don't like it for certain events... it's useless? Educate me more oh master of Destiny... Ghorn is extremely effective against Atheon. If you are taking damage trying to use it... you're doing it wrong. POE? It's great. Prox problems? Learn some trick shots, or jump and fire. PVP I agree, I don't like it. But that doesn't make it useless. For many, the tracking and Prox is what they want. Just because you clearly are ineffective at using a weapon, doesn't make it bad.

11 RepliesEdited by InfinitySerpent: 7/19/2015 8:06:52 PMany one who actually knows destiny, knows the highest damage heavy in the game is the dragons breath the problem with the other heavys though is that they are not as easy to use and the gally. gally -good velocity -tracking -wolf pack rounds that track -good blast radius -max DMG estimated to be around 5500+ dragons breath -bad velocity -no tracking -stationary tiny solar flare that enemies run away from -extremely high blast radius -max DMG estimated to be around 6000+ not much competition is there.....

Edited by Jin: 7/19/2015 8:02:17 PMWow there is so much wrong in this post idk where to begin. 1st. Atheon dies the fastest due to Gjallarhorn wolf pack rounds and little need to aim. 2nd Gjallarhorn is an amazing pvp heavy due to its ability to have snapshot/targeting/and proximity allowing easy kills. 3rd Gjallarhorn technically has max blast radius due to wolf pack rounds. 4th Any ill used rocket launcher can cause a player suicide. Dying by proximity means you failed to use gun correctly. 5th Using Gjallarhorn in public events is better than any other rocket launcher. Wolf pack rounds crush enemies. And it's a public event....who cares what gun you use to kill a lv 9 enemy?

That's not how this works.

4 RepliesAll of those reasons you stated for Gjally not being useful are false. If you had it you'd know that.
