Am i alone in thinking the Gjallarhorn nerf is justified?
The Gjallarhorn is the most powerful weapon in the game. So powerful that people began blocking people from raids in lfgs if theh didnt have a gjallarhorn. Now people will be able to diversify their exotic choices depending on play style without sacrificing the firepower possible with the Gjallarhorn

I don't have one but know a few that do. It is seriously head and shoulders above everything else in this game, however I think a nerf is fair. I have been on a few strikes where the guy with the gally just stands at the back and fires and then synths. It's useful yes and it can be a blessing (Omnigul). But I can see why Bungie are doing it. They want it to be more of a challenge and that's it. Also I have to agree with the statement of elitism regarding who gets to raid just because you have a gally. I haven't raided at all yet but amongst other things this is one of the reasons I haven't. I don't have time to raid at all so I don't need to be pissed about by the so called elite just because I don't have the most powerful weapon in the game. Saying that I would still gladly accept one if it dropped hahaha

It's totally justified now you won't feel you have to have one exotic equipped all the time. Now you won't feel that your short changing yourself by using something else. And that's coming from someone who just got ghorn last week after waiting through 1300+ hrs of gameplay to get it. And not only that but I'm willing to bet it will still be the highest damage option or tied for it with some others. No one knows how hard Wolfpack got nerfed yet anyways. People just worry to much and don't like change. The funny thing is people will find new things to fall in love with now most likely Suros regime again and they'll calm down and start back up the nerf Suros posts. People are funny aren't they?

Yes and no. A weapon is just a weapon, but jerks will always be jerks. There will always be a "ghallerhorn". It just seems like they are putting a bandaid on a bigger issue

If that's how you are justifying it, you may want to look for another reason. Ghorn will still be the most used exotic Rocket Launcher in the game and even more people are going to require it for LFG's just for the protesting sentiment of it.

2 RepliesThe Bungie dev said in the interview that the reason they want to nerf G'horn is because they didn't intend for it to be a disqualifier for people to get invited to group activity. Well, jeez, no brainer, if that's your concern, sell it on Xur like you do every other non-Raid weapon (Raid = Word, Fang, etc.) Selling G'horn periodically would absolutely eradicate Bungie's concern without lobotomizing the unique abilities G'horn brings to content to provide other unique ways to get things done. G'horn is unique, just like Ice Breaker and others are unique. Don't lobotomize dimensions of gameplay when uniqueness can be preserved. Don't turn G'horn into just another Hunger of Crota but with Solar burn. I've spent countless hours both enjoying G'horn use, and in helping friends do the weekly reset content to acquire their G'horns. After months of helping on a weekly basis, two guys I help most had not gotten G'horn yet, until one of the two finally got one this week, to their immense pleasure. All of that work, months, you would destroy by lobotomizing the reward? Instead, you could Xur it, and instead even the guy(s) who have worked for months, would still feel that they did the work, and they finally got one. You guys are really missing the boat.

Only thing I don't like about the rebalancing is the pulse rifle adjustments. I think they were fine how they were. I can live with everything else.

No, I agree with you. It is OP. Unfortunately, that is what made it [b]extremely fun[/b] to use (which is the point of any game). The [i]explanation[/i] for the nerf is a poor one. Would be easier to solve if the RNGsus/Xur weren't so unforgiving. It's like getting a Gjally to drop is akin to that feeling of completing Atheon the first time. [i]Only we can visit Atheon any time. [/i]Seems the Gjally elitists really shot themselves in the food on this one.

Pug groups suck. For masses to turn to a tool that makes even the super noobs able to point shoot and loot was simple logic. in a game with no real way to get this tool it also means a large group of people got left in the rain. I can see both sides and having a gally some of the pugs i did still failed because some people are bad. I don't give a shit because the change will be nice and i have a small raid team clan so we will adapt and keep killing shit. I do think somethings in a game are flagship gems to the games name and should have been a no go zone with this -blam!-ery. The devs could have just said naaah working as intended. /end I guess I just think they should have defended things harder because most of the community has no clue. Can't really draw a line in the sand till after the patch so see you all in 2.o They can nerf my gally dps but is bling factor is still 9001

Edited by Phoenix Fang55: 7/17/2015 6:26:07 PMthe nerf is still going to be fairly minor, plus, in my eyes, its getting a buff, damn grenade's and horseshoes, don't know how many times its detonated one of my shots ten feet above a thrall's head or something of that manner, so wolf pack rounds won't do as much damage as a second rocket, it'll still be one of the best weapons in the game. Honestly I agree with everything they are doing except I don't think they're giving fusion rifles their due attention, yes, a short range accuracy increase is awesome, will help them come back in crucible, but the shotgun buff was so overwhelming in pve, and its only getting a small nerf, I'm not saying shotguns should be getting nerfed down any more, but I waould like to see fusion rifles get a bit of buff, 25%-50% in pve would help bring balance back there, cause still, its going to be snipers or shotty's Blackhammer doesn't bug me, it will still be the highest dps sniper in the game, people will just have to use it more thoughtfully, and omg, use a SPECIAL SYNTH instead of a heavy, the world is coming to an end.
