Thinking about going out and buying this game. I like the idea of tracking and killing various monsters. How much tracking is really involved? And how do you like this game? Is the storyline long?
I just bought MKX recently and I've grown bored as I can only handle playing so many matches.

2 RepliesI'm trying to get into it :L I really am, I bought it on the pretence that RPG is my favourite style of game, but it's just pissing me off. I'm finding the combat really hard to get to grips with, despite having spent a tonne of time just practicing on Drowners and other enemies that are readily available. And it doesn't help that I'm stuck with some weirdass armour set that looks ridiculous, and I can't find another since the the armourers won't talk to me for some reason -.- I can tell this is a great game, which is why I'm being so patient with trying to get immersed in it, but something is stopping me :/

16 RepliesWhat I'm curious about is do I have to play the first two witcher games to understand the plot? Because this will be my first witcher game and it looks cool but I don't want to be lost while playing it. Can anyone give me insight on this?

I absolutely love the witcher 3. I didn't play the first two but I did read the books. It's not necessary in any way to do either though. There is a good bit of tracking but you just use your witcher senses and follow whatever it is you're tracking. Sometimes it's a monster other times it's a person and a lot of times it's just looking for clues. There are a TON of side quests to do, and they may have consequences that aren't immediately apparent depending on what choices you make. A lot of what I like about the game is just how much your choices influence the way the story shapes up. Witcher contracts are available all over the place and they are usually a boss fight on their own. Depending on the difficulty you play at they can be quite hard. The witcher uses two swords, a simple form of magic, potions and bombs/crossbows to fight with. One of the signs can influence people's minds. You can make bandits attack each other and get unique dialogue choices if you level it up. Depending on how you put your skill points you can play the game in very different ways. I personally have a melee/magic build but others might prefer an alchemy build. There's no right or wrong way to play it though. Also you're going to be broke most of the game. Even when you think you have a lot of gold, you'll get smacked with having to buy something that costs almost all of it. It's just the plight of a witcher. They're in demand but they can't charge too much or people can't afford them. Also in this regard, loot everything and sell anything you don't need. Just give it a go. It's the best game I've played on the Xbox one though and I've played a LOT.

6 RepliesI'm only one person but I was incredibly hyped for the Witcher 3 only to be let down in the worst way. I've played so many open world games and am easily hooked if the game is engaging. Witcher 3 is so boring. The maps are huge and there are markers all over the place. It just lacks substance in my opinion. I put 13 hours into it and I do not care about Geralt or his quest line what so ever. The combat reminded me of bloodborne, but no where near as polished or satisfying. Geralt does the same attacks with square and triangle and I see little to no variety in his sword attacks. The signs are a nice twist, but the only one worth using are really just the shield. The amount of side quests are distracting because there's just so many of them. But you only get XP from story missions. After 13 hours I was level 5 and it just felt like I was going no where when I played. The cutscenes were cool, but there's a cut scene for every interaction with every npc. There are so many different items out there and I don't even know what half of them do. I would not really recommend this game to anyone but it is very highly regarded from critics. I'm enjoying dark souls 2 way more.

8 RepliesThe game is a masterpiece and the leading GOTY contender at the moment. Far and away the best game of the last 18 months. I do recommend people play The Witcher 2 first. This isn't like a Fallout or TES where you don't give two shits about the characters or story. The Witcher 3 is better when you go into it with the emotional investment and understanding of the world politics.

There's a good bit of tracking. Some of it is clever but after doing it so many times you kind of learn where the game wants to lead you by sheer intuition. Great story with many decisions that affect the game world. Overall it's a great game if you like RPGs
