I am speaking for the people that have yet to beat him without the burn: Skolas and his buddies are still too OP for the unskilled and communication-less Destiny players. His power is unbelievably high and the captains are able to kill players with one to two shots from their scorch cannons,(not to mention those sniper vandals that can pull three, direct shots on a player in a row). Bungie, you guys did a good job with taking the burn off, but I think you failed to realize that people were still going to have a hard time with Skolas. I have to say that it would be worth the struggle if the rewards were better i.e. 2x or 3x etheric light, but one etheric light for the level 35? We, the Destiny community, deserve better from the 35 Prison of Elders. I apologize for ranting about such a trivial subject, but I just felt it needed to be addressed.

1 ReplyIt is still a fakkin waste of time. I dunno why I let someone convince me to do it again last week ffs
-
4 RepliesThe first time I did it was the first week with no burns. Took us about 25 minutes and might have wiped twice.
-
1 ReplyIf you have yet to beat Skolas, you are a filthy casual! Its meant to be challenging! Bungie designs missions and fights like this so people who are good at the game have a challenge.its not meant for " unskilled" players. That's why there is a lvl 28,32, and 34. Also, one etheric light is actually fine. It's the crappy weapons that make it not worthwhile.
-
The only good thing I have gotten from him is a Six Dreg Pride II with solar burn. Just because it's solar. Perks are ass
-
9 RepliesBeat the whole thing in 57 minutes post patch, its not hard.

Edited by jareids: 7/14/2015 4:01:23 PMWell, remember this is the hardest activity in the game. People are supposed to have a hard time with it lol. But you're right, the rewards need a major buff. Join the petition to buff the rewards! https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/138390862/0/0

I killed skolas once on each character and haven't been back. there is 0 reason to when you have all 3 exotic bounties, the rewards for prison where good at launch but otherwise pointless now, even adding more etheric light isn't great when you have 10 in vault, and if you just want rep for killing him, the rep grind sucks and the shaders aren't worth it at all
-
If it had better rewards I would do it more often. For now, ToO is just much more fun and gives better rewards for half the time investment.
-
I haven't even bothered to do it after I found out how shitty the rewards were. I got my shader and what not. That's the best loot you can get from it

1 ReplyEdited by Nxte_56: 7/14/2015 3:52:57 PMThe best strategy is 2 titans and 1 hunter. And alot of communication. Take out adds first. Do objectives. and run around in a clockwise way around the map rinse and repeat. Shoot skolas until he has about 25 percent health. Do objectives and then kill skolas. Very easy but took about 30 mins and required alot pf communication

4 RepliesI sincerely have no reason to even show my face in PoE. I already have all of the Elder Cipher weapons and I've got all the level 35 goodies from the first few weeks of the DLC. Not much reason to go back. Also, PvP seems to be more fun than ever now.
-
1 Replyit's the boredom of the PoE 35 that prevents me from finishing. I don't want to sink and hour plus into horde mode. I'd rather do something else. If there were checkpoints it would be much better.
-
1 ReplyWhat are the perks on skolas this week
-
1 ReplyLV35 should have a checkpoint system (one that you cannot share to others who haven't played), and better rewards. However, it should not be any easier.
-
It is not too hard. But I agree the rewards suck. I did Skolas 3x per week for the first two months and just don't care anymore.
-
8 RepliesSkolas is not hard, my 5 year old boy completed it twice last week!

Edited by Willie Killigan: 7/14/2015 11:31:41 AMI haven't tried it because the rewards suck, no incentive besides grabbing the grimiore/bounties. And only one of those bounties are supposedly worth getting. Even if the PoE elemental primaries were guaranteed drops I still wouldn't be in a rush to beat him. There is literally nothing in the 35 PoE that I can't get else where. Bungie really should have known better than to put Shank burn on a Void Rocket Launcher. Sometimes I wonder if they even play their own product.
-
Did it the other day for the Triumph, it was fun, but not motivated to do it again.
-
The trials chest in Mercury is far better than beating skolas . None of queens weapons are good and you only have a slight chance to get an elemental primary. The ciphers are the only real reason to do it. After that...
-
well skolas isnt too hard, the rewards are just too shitty.

Edited by TAZ__KID: 7/14/2015 11:41:51 AMAgreed the rewards are not worth the time or the fight. I might get a ship might get a shader and might get a gun non of which do me any good since most of them are worthless much less the fact there is no room for them. The only gun skolas can drop that I am even interested in would be the solar hand cannon so that leaves me doing it for the etheric light since there is a slim chance of getting that hand cannon. The weapon cores are pointless and useless cause the guns you can get with them suck as bad and worse than the dropped guns from skolas. Shank burn or dreg burn even vandal burn on most of the weapons is pointless also. I saw the rocket launcher with shank burn and hit the floor rolling. Really put extra damage on something that is going to take out a army of shanks without the extra damage burn.
-
I still do it because I need 1 more elder ciper lol
-
2 RepliesIt would be better, if the item were worth the fight. Currently due to them gimping the weapons with fallen related perks that should have been the 3rd perk raid weapons normally got, nobody cares. As well as now we can just ascend previous raid weapons to outplay them. Why use a Arc Dreg Pride when you can use a maxed out Fatebringer?
-
Did it for the first time today! Did it with two LFGrs I had no previous experience in it It wasn't as fun as I would have liked it to be but still an accomplishment. Time consuming though. Not hard (we never wiped) just shooting bullet sponges with less firepower than normal is all.

Edited by SkreeminChkn: 7/14/2015 11:06:39 AMIt's a tough battle, but it is lvl 35. With a decent team it's not terrible. A strategy I've figured out, that probably everyone else may know, is to get all of the mines before finishing off Skolas when he's down to nothing. I had a lot of teams that didn't do that and we played for hours just for them to bail cause we'd kill him but died because of the mines.

Not that hard. Run out to the left. Take out the servitor, hit skolas real quick, then run to opposite end and jump on the platform. kill adds, kill servitor, hit skolas, repeat till bonds broken. Then kill adds while passing the taint. When all adds are gone, hit skolas and repeat. It is easier to do the mines with as little adds as possible. At the moment variks announce the mines, whoever had the taint the most recently should run to the furthest mine while the other two stay and kill adds. It is easiest with a hunter. Should take from 15 to 20 minutes depending on how fast you kill adds.
