I am speaking for the people that have yet to beat him without the burn: Skolas and his buddies are still too OP for the unskilled and communication-less Destiny players. His power is unbelievably high and the captains are able to kill players with one to two shots from their scorch cannons,(not to mention those sniper vandals that can pull three, direct shots on a player in a row). Bungie, you guys did a good job with taking the burn off, but I think you failed to realize that people were still going to have a hard time with Skolas. I have to say that it would be worth the struggle if the rewards were better i.e. 2x or 3x etheric light, but one etheric light for the level 35? We, the Destiny community, deserve better from the 35 Prison of Elders. I apologize for ranting about such a trivial subject, but I just felt it needed to be addressed.

1 ReplyDidn't get around to it before the burn was removed, twice since. Supposed to be hard - it was imho. Main issue I have is the relatively lame rewards for the time to fight it out - I can solo most of CE (working on soloing crota) and 2 man crota in under 1/2hr for a pile of stuff (already have it all but not the point). Decent VOG team is looking at 1/2hr to 45min with loot along the way I didn't time it but it seemed like by the time you get to Skolas, and then beat him (especially with light switch on) the rewards increase compared to 34 which is typically 1/2hr or so, isn't very motivating given there is no check point. buff to the elemental primary drop rate, double the light/mats, exotic chance, etc....

1 ReplyWhat are the modifiers this week? Light switch was a bitch last week.

-
The fight is difficult because you have to coordinate your efforts. The actual enemies are easy. Once you learn how to work as a group ur fine!
-
Skolas is easy. 3 33's is easy to beat him with. Randal for Kell of Kells.
-
2 RepliesMy team spent 4 hrs trying to take down skolas for whatever reason we couldn't get it done. Sure would have been nice to have a checkpoint to come back to instead of starting fresh each time.
-
bet him a few times, just to know I could do it lol . If u got something that was good that would be nice
-
Eh I just want to beat him once for the triumphs, if I don't then that's cool.
-
1 ReplyIts suppose to be hard but i agree the rewards are shit!
-
2 RepliesI honestly like the entire Skolas boss fight. Something about the fast paced and high stakes mechanics of it
-
1 ReplyThe rewards are not proprotional to the difficulty and time most people need to invest in beating that fight. The fact that there are no checkpoints only makes matters worse. Once I get the ships for all my characters, I my seriously never do it again. It's just no worht it for a random piece of PoEs gear (Judgement's Chance) and a small chance at a elemental primary drop.
-
3 RepliesIf you haven't done it yet, you still should to complete one of the year one emblem bubbles.
-
PoE is a waste of time.
-
13 RepliesI like your name. :)
-
2 RepliesWould be better if you were guaranteed a primary with burn for beating him.

1 ReplyEdited by HalfY: 7/15/2015 9:10:27 AMIts just the rewards aren't that great, the chance to drop an elemental primary is pretty slim, plus i think everyone can agree that the wolves weapons arent that great in comparison to old raid weapons. The only one I like is my Wolves Leash II (on my warlock) its actually a beast for dealing with fallen, but thats it. The elder cipher bounty also drops on lvl34, personally I think it should only be on the lvl35. I would also like to see normal exotics drop for killing skolas, just like with atheon and crota. theres the same dam chance of getting an exotic out of the treasure chest with the lvl28 so its a pointless chest (apart from the ship, shader, emblem) Overall I enjoy the battle though, its take good communication and execution and is a challenge

3 RepliesEdited by my hops: 7/14/2015 11:57:14 AMIt was meant to be the hardest pve activity in the game . But I agree I believe rewards are lacking a bit.

9 RepliesEdited by noah197099: 7/14/2015 6:41:10 PMSkolas isn't mean for the unskilled and "communicationless." It is meant for players with a lot of experience and have great chemistry. This is meant to be the hardest PvE endgame for HoW. It isn't meant to be a walk in the park. I, myself, feel that Skolas is perfectly fine. No more changes should be made. Edit: if I were to change one thing, it's be the rewards.

2 RepliesHaven't bothered to do him in....3 weeks? If there was a point ... I'm sure I'd try harder to complete it
-
3 RepliesI haven't even bothered doing it once, the rewards suck...now I need to do it for the emblem though lol.
-
1 ReplyBeat him with burn and without. Rewards are not commensurate with the time invested without some sort of checkpoint system.
-
10 RepliesYeah skolas is fairly pointless once you get the cypher guns you want..
-
I'm amazed at the supposed crap drop rate for weapons. (Only beat him once, but our whole team was shut out, and everything in the forum supports that conclusion) Why go through making all kinds of cool looking weapons just to lock them behind garbage drop rates? 5 weapon cores to get a randy element on the weapon of the week would give some use for those stacking weapon cores and let a few more people actually use them instead of the same rotation of vision/fate/word depending on burns (or lighthouse gear for those that have it). And final thought, shank burn two weeks running? Who is running this ship over at bubgie?
-
Having completed both skolas with burns and without, without burn he is quite op for teams with communication barriers Etc bungie should put a burn in the rotation once a month I find that enables these players to have a fair try at him.
-
I beat him after the patch. Over it. Your right, the rewards suck. Not worth the time.
-
They should increase weapon drops with burns and decrease the cypher drops. I've done it 3x almost every week and have only gotten 2 weapons with burns and 6x as many cyphers which I no longer need and can't even delete because Variks keeps shoving it in my face. Armor/weapon cores and etheric light are stacking up in my vault and the only thing I want is primary burn weapons.
