What do you think of Thorn?
I'm curious to know what you guys think of Thorn in PvP. Is it overpowered? Or is it fine how it is?
I would like this to be a respectful discussion, so please stick to discussing and not attacking and degrading others, thanks
I'll start it off. I think Thorn needs a revisit. I was thinking about the other Exotic hand cannons. The Last Word is a two hit headshot if you are in hip fire, and then the gun is a short ranged weapon. The Hawkmoon is a two hit thanks to it's perks, but that does not guarantee a two hit kill every time. Thorn does not have a range problem, and is always a two hit kill, you don't have the uncertainty Hawkmoon has. It's much much better than the other Exotic hand cannons! (That does not mean that the other hand cannons are bad, or that they are not fun to use) Another point is that many many people use Thorn in Trials and IB, and for good reason. This gun is very powerful.

Well it doesn't matter anymore because it will be nerfed in a few months and everyone will stop using it and move to a pulse rifle with high impact. The age of the Pulse rifles has begun

Ban all exotics in endgame PvP (iron banner and Trials). This would make it all based in preference and skill.

It's the best primary in the game... But it's also the toughest one to get, so it deserves to be. People complain about the poison, but that is its main perk... Every gun has one. I will admit that the range on it is a little insane, though. Personally, I'm just sick of all the nerf this nerf that posts. We all have the same access to the same weapons, the same classes, and the same armor. It's not like thorn users have an advantage because non-thorn users aren't able to get one themselves. If they choose not to, that's on them.

Its just. Another weapon u get a team with mida tool or hawk moon or even hard light itll be a pain its just everyone is using it if ppl used different weapons im sure thorn wouldnt be a probblem i take that thing down with a multitool so fast i have the guy saying oww but im using an op weapon lol

It's only issue is people relying on it. It's hardly overpowered but when the entire enemy team is using it... i have no choice, i have to put away my messenger or multi-tool and kill them with their own crutch *deep sigh*

I just got Thorn last night; only used it in one Crucible game thus far and was literally apologising every time I killed someone with it. Don't think I will use it very often as I find Red Death a fantastic PvP gun and a good counter to Thorn. That being said, having spent hours soloing the entire bounty I feel I have a right to use Thorn if I so wish - hate the fact I daren't use it for fear of pissing people off.

3 RepliesThe thing with Thorn is that that two headshot kills still leaves time for you two die. The other two could just straight kill you with two instant shots. I have killed plenty of people will I have been doomed by the Thorn.

2 RepliesFavorite handcannon and has been since launch. Pre buff it was fun, after buff its a pvp slayer. Used it when no one would and use it when most do. Either way I'll use it when they nerf it into the ground, just enjoy the gun.

3 RepliesMy 2 cents My issue isn't so much those guns that are considered OP, it is more the ttk. When the game first came out and no one had guns like thorn, tlw, suros, and vex the ttk was imo in a good place. Even though these guns were in the game and still had the same or similar ttk. We just didn't know about it yet. As soon as ppl started getting those guns, mainly vex and suros everyone came screaming with their pitchforks for nerfs. Simply because the ease of use and ttk was better then what we had seen thus far. We as a community jumped the gun on calling for nerfs before the meta of the game was truely understood. So I stop to think, how this game would be if bungie didn't touch balance until now. The vex would be as good if not better then the hand cannons. The suros would be about even. If i remember correctly, the red death's rate of fire was slower but it hit harder little longer ttk but little more forgiving. The mida hasn't changed so it would compete at the longer ranges. Long story, short I encourage everyone to think outside the box and try different guns and tactics to give bungie the data they need to try to balance the game.

In the words of a guy I know. Theres a gun in the game thats string and if you use it your a dick, but if its that broken its in the devs for leaving it in there so theres no point of complaining on a player using it. Why complain about a player using a "op" weapon when you should be complaining to the devs to fix it
