Hello, Flood.
I am Forest Oak, and I am making a new game with some buddies. The game is a loot based RPG, but with a new leveling system.
Here is what I have so far:
Storm Rifles Standard Assault Rifles.
SMGs High RPM weapons.
*Charge Rifles Imagine the KSG with a short charge time.
*Arc Rifles Think Wunderwaffe with slower travel time.
*Focus Beams Think Sentinel Beams on Crack.
Long Rifles Standard Sniper Rifles.
Shotguns Standard Pellet Spread Weapons.
Nail Rifles Scout Weapons.
Handhelds This includes both Revolvers and P99-esk weapons.
Flammables Flamethrowers and Molotov launchers.
Machine Rifles Giant Chainguns.
Shoulder Cannons Standard Rocket Launchers.
Short Swords This includes rusty knives and high-end HotBlades.
due to popular demand,
Long swords! Think medieval claymores.
I am coming up short in new ideas for weapons, and would encourage you to voice your ideas down below.
Thank you for your time.
Edit: I have currently Concepted and Constructed over 150 of these weapons.
Any suggestions help.
Edit 2: I just want everyone to know, there is no such thing as a bad idea!
Edit 3: Hello flood, the 0.02% that will read this. I have enough weapons to carry forward into development.
It's not that I am being overwhelmed, or I am just lazy, but I have 200+ unique concepts to implement. That's not including standard weaponry.

2 RepliesI am currently working on a similar project (4 part series of an FPS RPG), and from one developer* to another I would like to point out that the best games have great references. Whether it's a reference to pop-culture, a shoutout to another game, or anything (one of the missions I've designed is that you travel through my neighbourhood in London and the final mission objective is my old flat). It's a great way to connect with your fan base and anyone who knows you on a personal level. It also inspires people to look into the backstory further to lap up any information they can Prime example: Halo Bad example: Destiny Have fun with your game whatever path you take
*I am not qualified in any way, but it's fun to pretend.
Edited by VII: 10/17/2015 3:56:59 AMI'm thinking something tanky. Like a riot shield/minigun hybrid. accuracy would be shit af while mobile, and slightly better while stationary. If it's turn based, I'd say high defense, medium-low accuracy, medium-high attack.

4 RepliesWhip-Swords: basically a regular short sword but can be extended for a distance to perform and chain together long and short range combos, plus they just sound really badass
-
How about defensive weapons? Like shields that can block different types of damage?
