So essentially Bungie said that if by August 1st(or whatever) you have either bought and played both dlc or have a level 30, you're a year 1 vip. So...... Year ones are still not being granted anything special and here's why.
If someone goes out today and buys they game, gets 1 chars to level 25 and entered the reef and completes both stories(about 10 hours of gaming) then they will be considered a year 1 vip.
So we still get the finger. Saw a forum post of a guy (and he had a lot of replies agreeing) saying he just did that to get the cool armour shader and sparrow. I'm so fed up.
Edit1: I forgot how full of venom this comunity is.
Edit2: some guardians managed to make a coherent sentence and not spew hate and insults, those few have managed to , changed my mind. To them I say thank you, I will not be deleting this post out of pride but I do acknowledge I was wrong. But to those that had to turn to insults you were all reported. Soon your comment will refer to the code of conduct.

Let's just have special stuff that people can get but make the cutoff the day after you stated playing. This way you'd still be "special." Who seriously cares what other people get as long as you're getting it? Better idea would be people with over a certain # of hours maybe.

Got to level 33 then quit so when his CE TTK gets here he'll have the shaders emblems etc. Literally two days and he gets the same thing as Day 1'ers. Whom ever did their marketing needs to be shaved, shot, and sterilized.

I think my biggest argument to your original post is people in my situation. I began playing Destiny in week two (broke before then) but I began playing on Xbox360 a good friend went half and half to get me on ps4, which I've been playing for a week. If it was pre dark below I would not be considered a year one veteran regardless of having a level 34 on ps4 and 3 level 32 characters on Xbox.

Remember (and this is something nobody talks about) that bungie is also trying to get more people to play this game, which helps all of us out in the end. Without opponents crucible will suck and without a fireteam raids will suck

Well to be honest as long as you played at any point before the first year pasted then you are a year 1 player. But on the other hand there should be different rewards for the people who started on day 1 of release, and that does not include all the christmas noobs and beyond.

I mean, I beta tested the game and bought the vanilla game on launch day, but because I'm only level 32 now and don't have an impressive grimoire score, I take shit on here every day. Why? Because I quit for 7 months & just came back? Not my fault I have a life and play more than one game. This need to have something special because you got the game early on is PATHETIC! It's meaningless. You people need to get over yourselves. This community takes this game way too fffking seriously and it's not even remotely close to being a hardcore game. Get over it and grow up.

They are just playing the mind game here using sweet words to make it sound special, give me a break year one players? What about the day 1 players damn it, all you need is someone to buy both expansions and they are year one, this is 100% a move to make more money adding these extra so called "year 1 vip rewards" all that is for is to reel in more cash. I know about the business scheme they need to make money but they are acting like their consumers are special, year one VIP lol don't make me laugh and anyone who believes that is a fool.

105 RepliesDay one player and honestly here's how I see it - what can they give us? A shader? That we'll replace in a week. An emblem? That'll get changed in a month A ship? That'll be swapped put probably. A weapon or piece of armor? That honestly won't replace what we use by now. We're year one. We're day one. We have stories and experiences people buying the game today will never understand. How about the first time atheon's teleport was random and not the people at the back? Getting an exotic from the first crota chest that youd drop down and farm till it was in the first door by yourself almost every week. The mutual silent respect we had for eachother at the Loot Cave and then the ad charge to get in there when the enemy moved against eachother, a Warsat came crashing down, or a purple ammo pack made you think you got a legendary drop. When suros was king of the crucible? Icebreaker was neverrrr gonna be sold by xur. So. Many. Memories guardians. That only day one players have. And these are stories and references we'll make while talking to our fireteams, and those of us that were there, Will laugh and smile or groan in remembered frustration. The new players will just be confused and lost and never have those same feelings. Bungie can give me whatever they want. And to whomever they deem a year one Guardian. I may use it, I may delete it, I don't know. But I do know, that the memories I've made in this first year of destiny can't be deleted. The stories, good times, terrible times and all in between are mine and my friends to keep. As are they yours to hold onto. That's my simple view on it. Looking forward to year two as a titan guardian.
