So essentially Bungie said that if by August 1st(or whatever) you have either bought and played both dlc or have a level 30, you're a year 1 vip. So...... Year ones are still not being granted anything special and here's why.
If someone goes out today and buys they game, gets 1 chars to level 25 and entered the reef and completes both stories(about 10 hours of gaming) then they will be considered a year 1 vip.
So we still get the finger. Saw a forum post of a guy (and he had a lot of replies agreeing) saying he just did that to get the cool armour shader and sparrow. I'm so fed up.
Edit1: I forgot how full of venom this comunity is.
Edit2: some guardians managed to make a coherent sentence and not spew hate and insults, those few have managed to , changed my mind. To them I say thank you, I will not be deleting this post out of pride but I do acknowledge I was wrong. But to those that had to turn to insults you were all reported. Soon your comment will refer to the code of conduct.

Edited by IRONHATE: 7/6/2015 5:46:07 PMI think the entitlement of most people here is hilarious. I understand that Bungie doesn't help matters claiming to reward year 1 players with certain requirements.. but this is a game. Honestly, outside of a different payment bracket in DLC this doesn't matter. Do you think anyone cares about your social status within a game? In the end, Bungie really makes this hard on themselves for being lazy with it. Either make it a specific bracket for people to be considered year one or do what they did and give a super large window to qualify. Technically, anyone who played Destiny within "year one" of launch is a year one player. If you don't like that, then maybe you are just a self entitled brat. TLDR: Who cares.

They did say "Year 1" and not "Day 1" right?

Where do you draw the line? I started playing in January and that makes me a second class citizen in the mind of many on these forums.
-
Year 1 player: Anyone who played Destiny before The Taken King released.

Edited by firstDead: 7/6/2015 5:31:19 PMYeah I'm kind of bummed about this too. Even though that emblem looks pretty sick, I think I'll keep rocking my sign of the elders.
-
What defines year one in your book???? The impression I get, is that you had to play the game when it came out, all the way up till the new DLC drops. But Bungie does not see it that way....I think that is where everyone is getting bent out of shape...People who have been here through EVERYTHING including the beta, feel like anyone that gets in now is not a "true" year one vet. I see both side to this, and don't care either way.
-
the game is not out for a year until the huge dlc release in september 9, 2015 so that means anyone that buys the game in August and buys all the dlc which im sure would be like 60 by then for all 3 will be a 1 year vet according to bungie.. this is why crap like this have pushed me from destiny they announce this and that but when it comes to a day 1 player they reward everyone the same crap where as the day 1 player should get more since the xbox 360 day one players have gottin screwed the most out of all the gamers... which would be me so i safely and calmly moved bungies fist from my ass and walked away :D
-
Well considering the game hasn't been out for a year I'm guessing anyone who buys the game now has played in the first year
go back to elementary school
-
Who gives a -blam!- man.
-
You don't know what a YEAR is????
-
I read your edits but I still wanna say this, they are a year one VIP the rewards are for anybody who plays in the first year and if somebody buys the game July 31 and get to level 30 that day then so be it because the did it in year one
-
You may have a difficult time adjusting to adult life, good luck out there!
-
Year 1 is September 9th 2014 - 14th September 2015. If they join in between that time arw they not year one?
-
I don't ever expect anything good from Bungie as far as rewarding their fanbase, and I'm never disappointed. Except those pumpkin heads, those were awesome.
-
I actually made the switch from xbox 360 to ps4 about ten days ago, and I'm satisfied that I'm still eligible for the veteran stuff. I'd be pissed if my status didn't carry over because I switched consoles.
-
good point, but i'm not too concerned. its not that we are getting the finger, we just get very little.
-
Year 1 = 1 Year 1 Year = 365 days Destiny's age < 1 year Shh, children
-
8 RepliesLook at it this way, Scrub, in ten years (as the game is supposed to continue for that long), who is going to be looked upon as a veteran? The people who bought the game during year 5 or 6? Or the people who bought the game during the first year? That's why bungie did it. Stop being a baby.
-
am I supposed to care? the true Y1 reward are things like field scout MGs, final round efrideet's, etc.
-
But if this game lasts for 10 years, a guy buying the game today would make a slight difference than a few months ago
-
They would still be Year 1 players you -blam!-ing moron
-
I also read and it said to get the year one you have to play ttk before February
-
3 RepliesActually you are right, the vip rewards can be obtained merely by reaching level 30. Im not bashing but how does getting a levl in a day or two make you a year 1 VIP?
-
9 RepliesEveryone can wear the year 1 exclusive emblem, shader and putter around on their little sparrows. But when I pull out my The Devil You Know all the Vanilla Destiny Badasses will know the truth. I'll be happy to get the year 1 stuff but I know I still have my baby.

will they have my elders sigil? nope. only people who played the beta have it
