I see female players occasionally. Statistically I've probably helped way more males than females. Yeah, it'd be nice to have a girl to play with, but personally I don't go out of my way to friend people at random, male or female. I help you if I'm in the area and I can help, then I wave politely and continue on my way. If we have a badass run through in PoE or something, sometimes I make friends that way. But so far, no females populate my friends list at all. On one hand, I don't want to be a creeper, on the other I don't want to exclude them. Its a double-edged sword. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'll leave it up to RNGesus :)

107 RepliesEdited by MissVixx: 7/4/2015 5:06:13 PMIf you're not female how could you understand the shit we deal with? I've been harassed online in quite a few games. Left 4 Dead, GTA, The Last of Us, and Destiny to name some. I bet you wouldn't be too happy if your girlfriend went online and everyone started to call her a cum dumpster or a stupid bitch who isn't worth shit... or telling all the shit they'd do to her and all those lovely sexual assault threats. Now we are normal human beings just like anyone else. We are reasonable. The 'back in the kitchen' comments are jokes. We get jokes and trash talk, we're not -blam!-ing stupid, thats all a game...but they cross the line when they degrade us. When their goal is to make us feel inferior and hurt us. We're not over emotional babies who cry about one silly little joke... when they are personal attacks on us and our sex then YES there is a reason to be upset. *
This may be a troll post but honestly I wish more people would just treat us like normal gamers. Thought I might as well put it out there.
My girl plays and she kicks ass. And weirdly enough most of the people she finds in LFG are fairly nice for the most part.

1 ReplyFunny i have never seen any of this happen. Stop trying to see everything as a sexist problem

Edited by arcadecrash: 7/5/2015 5:37:25 PMUnfortunately, a fair amount of the male players in games don't have basic skills to interact with people much less girls/women. In some cases they are almost terrified to interact with them in person. Others are women haters and are bitter because they have been rejected a lot or they have "nice guy" syndrome. The Internet lets them behave towards girls/women/(insert any other race, religion, person with a different opinion, etc.) in a way they never could in real life.
Internet is like alcohol for many people. It doesn't change you, it just lowers the inhibition for saying the awful things you have felt all along.
'These girls' Right, okay! I'll just mute you immediately

1 ReplyBecause they're thirsty junkyard dogs..

The only female that I know on Destiny has 40+ years old.., yea 40+....

I actually helped two girls 3 or 4 days ago. Me and my friend and them did vog normal up to Atheon, then we invited our friends. One got thunderlord, one got Insurmountable skullfort, and I got my first gally. (Let me say I have played since day one AT LEAST once every week) and that's how they got their first exotics. ( they loved them ). And girls who play video games (that I've met) have plenty or more skill than me and my friends. And if they don't, I don't exclude them, I offered to do normal vog with them and it was their first time. What I'm saying is girls are perfectly included in my games. Even if they aren't great at the game, or if they go flawless 3 times in ToO.
-
Simple solution. Mute. Don't complain just mute. Move on with your life.
-
2 RepliesBc I don't need them pmsing halfway through VOG and then we all have to jump off the ledges to off ourselves so we don't have to listen to her whine about how hard it is and how she can't find her midol.

Edited by Dranglei: 7/5/2015 5:07:30 PMI play with 2 girls that I know personally on a daily basis and what it usually comes down to is if a new guy shows up and they are taking part in a vog or something they are friendly and this continues for a few days because they begin following they one of them around and then that's when they try to get too friendly and they get creepy. That's when the weird questions start and they try to get personal. The guys on this game just need to understand that this is a game and don't mess with the girl like that expecting it to transform into some weird gamer girl fantasy. I don't know how many times I've had to tell a guy to -blam!- off because he was taking things too far and being disgusting.

I have never played with any girls on destiny, but it's just a coincidence that I have been on a fireteam with any. I wouldn't exclude them, that's sexist
-
I don't, I let girls join my fireteam, I honestly don't see why girls get excluded, if hey know what they are doing over some boys I kick boys out
-
I have played destiny with girls here and there and I've never had an issue or thought they did. They have all been just as good as any of us.
-
Never seen this happen. Worst I've done personally was ask if she was indeed female or a prepubescent male. I was rather embarrassed for some time afterwards...
-
2 RepliesHoly lack of grammar.

Through most the replies ive seen in this thread it would appear people get verbally abused when they join random party invites, i didnt reallize this was even a problem, i never join random people. If i dont know you i dont wanna talk to you. Outside of that it seems people need to invest more time in trying to thin their friends down to the people you would actually like to play with.

1 ReplyYour display of the English language is horrendous. Please refrain from posting on these forums again. Also, you should tell a doctor about being retarded. It's a mental illness that needs to be taken seriously, or you could kill yourself by forgetting how to breathe.

Wait. People do that?

15 RepliesEdited by veilsix: 7/5/2015 1:48:44 PMThis thread. SMH. Here's a little PSA for the ladies. The bat signal went up and every white knight in Gotham is climbing over each other trying to say the best thing to get a female friend add. I'm seeing posts from guys saying they have or will boot their own friends to make a perfect stranger feel comfortable in their party because they're a girl (OP included in later replies). Now let me ask you ladies, when you read that... You're well aware that these guys wouldn't do this for another dude right? So why do you think they do it for a girl? Exactly. And no, having a gf doesn't exclude anyone from being a prowler. I have a gf myself and believe me not only is she hot as shit but she takes care of the business often if you catch my drift. But my ears STILL perk up when I hear the sultry female voice talking video games/nerd culture/ etc. don't EVER let a guy tell you otherwise because he'd be lying. And that's coming from a guy who can call, text, or chill with probably one of the hottest, fittest badass girls you'll ever see playing Destiny or games in general. It doesn't matter, our little feelers are always on standby for more. In the end you're still being treated differently just because of your gender. One guy degrades you outright. But the other kind (the kind this thread is mostly full of) is even creepier because they subtly try to outwit you by criticizing the guy above, telling you whatever you want to hear and trying to stockpile you in their friends list, parties, eventually social media and so on. It will go as far as you let them... All because they "don't care if you're a girl as long as you're cool." Think about it, do you see them pursuing other guy gamers that hard or buttering up to them since they really don't care about gender? Right. I would take my hat off to the first guy that actually said that they were keeping an eye out for a like minded girl to talk to in their near vicinity and see where it went. Because they want to find a lady they have something in common with, and there's nothing wrong with that. I've yet to see that statement or anything like it around here. At least that dude would be honest. TLDR; The White Knight Effect: Ladies don't fall for it (unless of course you're after attention you don't get elsewhere, then by all means you do you). Trust me, it's a farce. You're better off using the LFG system and friending whichever gamer of whichever gender meshes with your play style and personality.
