UPDATE 7/3: I ended up doing some summer cleaning today while rerolling guns, got rid of most of my vault/inventory. Very sad day. Most of the collection I was amassing is gone. But it had to be done. R.I.P. Hundreds of hours of work.
UPDATE: If the issue is with the loading of all 3D models as we are currently assuming, would you be willing to forgo those to increase vault space, and only have that in the inventory? Maybe even be unable to see perks unless the gun is in your inventory if necessary?

Original Thread:
I have a good solution to this, another company has already adapted this for their own game. So Bungie's main argument is memory usage on the consoles for all the weapons. While many argue against that being a possible issue, let's assume that is correct. So what's the solution?
An external vault. In a game all about collecting them all having the space to actually keep 'em all is essential. Anybody else know a game that has way too many collectibles and not even space?
Pokemon.
There's so many Pokemon I'm the game, and the bank does not allow you to hold them all (Edit: I stand corrected by many users, the newer games do allow you to store them all, they give you ample space without pokebank. I was unaware, haven't played the new gens, forgive me). Whether or not this is an arbitrary limitation or an actual memory limitation of the games I have no idea, but they made a solution recently.
It's the Pokemon bank. An external application that holds an insane amount of Pokemon. They charge 5 dollars a year for the service, and have many the game truly about catchin' them all.
This is the exact solution we need in Destiny. Whether or not the charge is necessary or sufficient is something you can discuss, but I'd gladly pay 5-10 dollars a year for vault space.
How do you feel about it?
Edit: Thank you everybody for keeping this alive for 1k posts!

1 ReplyOr they can use separate pages for each class of weapons. Only reason it's limited is because they want to show it all at once. Split up the weapons into pages of each class and now you have three times the vault space.
-
1 ReplyPokemon has enough space for them all.
-
7 RepliesPokemon also has like 15x the vault space. And has had it since like 1997.
-
4 RepliesDark Souls did it. Why is this a problem?
-
3 RepliesStop hoarding weapons. Solution found. Most legendary are repeats of each other with different elements. Hell now with reforge you need only 3 of each weapon type.
-
5 dollars per year? Hm
-
Here is the real solution: Delete everything. You're welcome people.

4 RepliesAll year 1 weapons will become irrelevant after ttk so what's the point?
-
1 ReplyPokemon has more space than destiny.. Better story too

I think an additional fee is unnecessary. That is what we already pay, for example, PSN fees for. But I think the idea of an external vault is good. If the older consoles cant handle a bigger vault because of weapon comparison, why not just make an external vault where you can switch items between your normal vault and this vault around, only the external vault is just a list of item names. Dont tell me xbox 360 and ps3 cant handle a list of item names. There are many solutions to this problem, really.

Another one throwing money at their screen.
-
Wow you want us to pay even more.
-
Please don't make us have to pay for it... I would cry
-
I would pay that sign me up.
-
2 RepliesI have a better solution, put trading system in
-
I would pay for that

Go away.

4 RepliesIs it really that hard to add more Vault space?? I mean just add a lot more slots with some coding? They already gave us a update on the vault space which was a joke, really a extra 7 slots?? With all this so called content we have, I just don't understand why we can't get more vault space.
-
20 RepliesIt's only a memory issue on the older consoles. Ditch those or stop caring about them in terms of vsult space and we can have basically unlimited.
-
10 RepliesWhelp, you just ensured I never buy another Pokemon game again. Thanks.
-
13 RepliesNo should be free
-
7 RepliesI also had the exact same idea I'm happy someone said it and it's getting noticed.

I always thought it would be cool to have a place where you could actually display your guns/armor, especially the ones you don't use much. Like a walk-in vault on your ship or something.
-
1 ReplyIf they charged I'd continue to delete. If a gun doesn't make your vault what's the chances you will ever use it?
-
4 Repliesnot a game about collecting, i dont remember any ad or anything saying "collect all exotics!" just delete some things, easy.
-
6 RepliesEdited by warriorhealer: 7/1/2015 8:06:58 PMI understand wanting to collect them all! But seriously how many weapons do you actually use? Not even enough to fill one character I'm guessing. So vault space definitely shouldn't be beating out actual game issues for attention. Alternatively, just let me use all slots in the vault for whatever I want! My armor slots have two items and consumables never have more than 5. So that's a ton of wasted space for me.
