UPDATE 7/3: I ended up doing some summer cleaning today while rerolling guns, got rid of most of my vault/inventory. Very sad day. Most of the collection I was amassing is gone. But it had to be done. R.I.P. Hundreds of hours of work.
UPDATE: If the issue is with the loading of all 3D models as we are currently assuming, would you be willing to forgo those to increase vault space, and only have that in the inventory? Maybe even be unable to see perks unless the gun is in your inventory if necessary?

Original Thread:
I have a good solution to this, another company has already adapted this for their own game. So Bungie's main argument is memory usage on the consoles for all the weapons. While many argue against that being a possible issue, let's assume that is correct. So what's the solution?
An external vault. In a game all about collecting them all having the space to actually keep 'em all is essential. Anybody else know a game that has way too many collectibles and not even space?
Pokemon.
There's so many Pokemon I'm the game, and the bank does not allow you to hold them all (Edit: I stand corrected by many users, the newer games do allow you to store them all, they give you ample space without pokebank. I was unaware, haven't played the new gens, forgive me). Whether or not this is an arbitrary limitation or an actual memory limitation of the games I have no idea, but they made a solution recently.
It's the Pokemon bank. An external application that holds an insane amount of Pokemon. They charge 5 dollars a year for the service, and have many the game truly about catchin' them all.
This is the exact solution we need in Destiny. Whether or not the charge is necessary or sufficient is something you can discuss, but I'd gladly pay 5-10 dollars a year for vault space.
How do you feel about it?
Edit: Thank you everybody for keeping this alive for 1k posts!

3 RepliesMicro on top of macro transactions? FFS man. No. Just no.

15 RepliesIt's not so much the memory that has the problem, it is the ram. Ram is what gives you the quick access, it is the reason why when you are in a big battle your inventory takes longer to load. The way they can bypass this is making tabbed vaults as in the vault has pages that can be tabbed across. Loading times would be annoying but effectively you could have a lot more space. The other downside is that you wouldn't easily be able to navigate your vault from your app. Though if they gave each type a page it would help ie an armour page, material page and weapon page.

4 RepliesOr we could just drop last gen and then the problem would be solved...
-
4 RepliesDon't even give them this idea. Vault space should be free. This microtransaction thing is a cancer in the industry and we certainly don't need that bad juju in destiny.
-
2 RepliesVault fix: Sparrows, shaders, ships, ghist shells, and emblems will no longer be stored in the vault. Instead they will be stored at the special orders booth with Tess Everis. You can pick them up from the special orders booth, delete them from your character, and reacquire them at any time. The same we you already can with Double Banshee, Frontier Shell, EV-30 Tumbler, etc. Cloaks, marks and bonds will be moved from the armor section of the vault to the consumable section of the vault. Consumables will stack to 1000 (or 999 if you can't do 4 digits). Armor spaces and weapon spaces in the vault will be doubled. There will be a separate permanent place for materials (spinmetal, spirit bloom, etc.), armor materials (plasteel plating, etc), currency types, and weapon parts. They will be just like glimmer, shared across all characters and not require vault space. This is the best fix for the vault I can think of.

3 RepliesHaha gtfoh

Or they could have one page for armor with 72 slots click a bumper on your controller to go to weapons and bam 72 more slots!!! Why put it all on one page?

1 ReplyDelete all your weapons.. Simple as that

34 RepliesEdited by darkdemon759k: 7/2/2015 9:29:46 PMQuite frankly people bitching about vault space each character can easily hold 4pvp loadouts and 4pve loadouts, that's a total 27(9 per character) gun slots per catagtory then you have your 50+ vault space or whatever the hell it is now, so if u clearly need more vault space stop being a hoarding bitch yu don't no that many guns, and even if you are an exotic collector that still gives you plenty of room
-
3 RepliesExotics are not the only guns to collect. Here's a list. Vault gear and guns Crota gear and guns Prisin gear and guns Trials both gear and guns Iron banner gear and guns New iron banner gear Queen guns All exotics gear and guns Few good legendaries that can't be obtained ever again. Having 3 Gjallarhorn is also very useful. Collecting these items doesn't make you a gun whore. There simply isn't enough room for all this. And don't get me started about shaders ships and emblems. If players just collected "useful guns" destiny wouldn't even need a vault.
-
WAIT WAIT WAIT! WE COULD MAKE DESTINY:HOARDERS! eh? ehhhh?????
-
7 RepliesYeah, no vault space in TTK, F TTK.
-
So you want Destiny to create a memory server for us to buy in to? Micro transactions are not the way to go. How about wait until Destiny 2 comes out and they go next gen consoles only..... this will alleviate the issues.

Quit being a horder

2 RepliesStop hoarding.
-
The entire point of the game is to collect guns and armor, all the retards that say delete so called weapon are wanna 🐝 lollipop dykes who have no idea how to play destiny u Swedish meatball
-
5 RepliesThey'll do it and ask you 20 bucks for it
-
Word, I suggested this too my man. I will bump this all day.
-
1 ReplyDelete unused weapons. /thread

1 ReplyBungie is correct… it is all about making choices. So, I choose to NOT purchase TTK. Thanks Bungie… that was easy.

35 RepliesEdited by Emzx99: 7/2/2015 4:11:05 PMOr, they could just add the easy to implement vault space. It isn't technical limitation, it's the lack of skill at Bungie. These people still use merky, repetitive textures with most areas built in mass with already made assets. The game isn't technically demanding in the slightest, it just doesn't run well because it's optimized poorly. There shouldn't be a vault at all. Or a character limit. All the items you get should share one, easily navigated inventory with access to equipped items on other characters. Its that simple. Bungie makes it difficult. Don't give them the idea to charge for an app that's more likely to delete our weapons without reason AND take our money. Moron.
-
3 RepliesBungie's solution. Dismantle everything because you have to make tough choices about what you want to use. Then three months later we'll tell you that all that gear can be ascended. Now you can grind all over again to get the stuff you already had and ascend it.
-
3 RepliesOr they could just remove the 3D rendering part. This is the biggest reason vault space is limited (last gen can't handle more) Allow 3D rendering of items when equipped on your character only. That's a big reason why the vault is so small. It has to have all these items ready to 3D render and therefore they use up more space in terms of bytes. This is what Bungie needs to do. I am sure no one would care especially if it meant more space
-
1 ReplyPlease stop giving them ideas on how to fleece us for more cash. Vault space should never be an issue on a game based around collecting items guns and, armour. This is supposedly next gen after all!!
-
I thought I had a vault space issue until I started to delete stuff, and now I don't.
