I'm a little pissed about it. It's just the principle of locking out content so they could get more money through a partnership with red-bull. Another scheme to get us to spend our money and milk us dry. Still on the fence about purchasing TTK, a lot of other good games coming out. Oh well. What do others think?
p.s. checkout planet destiny for info:

Edit: Also to add I'm in the UK and it looks like this content might be region locked to the US mainly because the promo codes might not be available here. Pretty shitty of Bungie really....
Edit 2: Looks like other companies have started poking fun (props to nosworc for posting this):

Edit 3: OK so just a quick mention here - yes the quest will become available in January. But that is still a 3 month lockout period for people who don't want to buy a pack of redbull to get in-game content. I think people are missing the point around why I'm disappointed about this - it's the principle behind the fact they want to boost sales by getting us to buy a product not related in any way whatsoever to the game. Worse still the product is proven to be bad for consumers health.
I know other game companies do this, but really we are talking about halo and COD, so it's not like they need to do this to increase profits. Why not instead just have introduced a veterans collectors edition - that would have done wonders for their revenue too. No, instead they sell-out to redbull.

1 ReplyBruh... It's a red bull.

13 RepliesWell the leaked info says it's only in north America so I'll have to spend bout $2000 to go get one.... If it does come to Australia and is exclusive to 7/11 I'll have to drive 5hours + to get one, sounds like a good deal to me..... Bungie went full retard on this one,
-
Good luck finding a 7-11 in my country. Doesn't really matter though. It can't be that special.

Edited by FRYKILL: 6/25/2015 12:24:35 AMThe whole exclusive shit has gotten WAY out of hand. Nowadays, I have to buy this item from 20 different places to get a special item. I have to own this console to get additional content. I have to drink liquid acid to get access to a special quest. This is getting old. If you want to kill something, you lock it to exclusives. Anyone remember 3D Blu Rays? Everyone had to lock out content from the consumer unless you bought THEIR TV, OR THEIR STARTER KIT. People thought this was utterly rediculous and stopped caring. When no one payed for this exclusive shit, it went away, unfortunately, the damage was done. I'm going to go as far as saying that the gaming industry needs to be regulated now to protect the consumers best interest, but something needs to be done. Bungie has become the poster child of the term "sellout". They sold out big time.
-
I think it's annoying how so many posts are about giving away codes.
-
I don't drink Red Bull... I won't get the codes... and CCL.
-
5 RepliesI'll give a code two codes for anyone and their bud to help me get flawless this weekend in trials.

1 ReplyEdited by A huntlock: 6/24/2015 8:39:41 PMRedbull...it gives you wings..
on your helmet
I'm in the UK too, a bit miffed we'll miss out. They should do it here with irn bru!
-
The promotion itself does not phase me (standard practice amongst the gaming world) the issue here is how will Bungie treat the rest of the world in relation to this content who do not have access to the promotion. I am Australian based and the promotion is not available out here so does this mean I am locked out - i.e. do we have to wait until January or do we have access to it with TTK? Bungie has made no comment on this at all.
-
"throws money at cooler door at 7-11"
-
2 RepliesNo. My red bull rep is hooking me up with a bunch of codes.
-
I don't understand how people aren't, unless they are the 420 blaze Mountain Dew and Dorito kids from cod
-
I'll just buy one and pour it out for the homies
-
2 RepliesIts literally one freakin mission holy crap get over it.
-
Ya think? Posted proof that I canceled my order and got trolled over it.. some people are too stupid to learn.
-
1 ReplyI'm not pissed but I will not support it. I will wait a couple months for it to become public.

2 RepliesEdited by cobaltcrimson1: 6/24/2015 9:28:17 PMhttp://www.polygon.com/2015/6/24/8837695/destiny-gets-new-quest-you-just-need-to-pop-open-a-red-bull-or-wait Here's an article about it, it's actually going to be released at the first of next year for those who can't get redbull. I posted a thread about it but i think it got buried already. Feel free to repost the link so everyone sees it.

It's a quest line locked out for 2-3 months. You can get exclusive exo's on a Doritos bag and a Mountain Dew 24 pack. It's not like it's a big deal
-
Not really, it's only exclusive for a couple of months.

Edited by xDeFalt: 6/24/2015 9:53:09 PMConsidering the extra content is a story mission and this games on going lack of story,I'm not even remotely irritated. I wouldn't spend $3 even if I could buy the mission out right because it will undoubtedly be another monotonous piece of dribble and over within 30 minutes, also wouldn't hold my breath in hoping the mission reward will be useful, let alone spend $20 or more just trying to get a code
-
3 RepliesI'm 100% certain the whole point of having a business is to generate revenue. I could be mistaken though....
-
3 RepliesI think we are all forgetting that activision is the one that's probably setting this up not bungie so be pissed at them
-
Oh, Techland. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
-
5 RepliesTo be honest, this is the first thing that has bothered me at all. I don't care that the emotes and shader are bundled. Don't care that Luke smith made the comments he made. However, this red bull thing shows that they have sold out. I don't blame Bungie though. Activision is the monster here. Didn't they do something similar with call of duty and Mountain Dew?

Edited by B1GRich74: 6/24/2015 9:38:19 PMI won't be part of it, I'm not a fat kid who lives on it, plus i'm UK based. Another nail in destinys coffin for me!
