Important Note: This is fictional, and its to prove a point. Life can't wait a Year. It could happen to anyone of us.
A man, woman, and child, went to the hospital very sick, and have been told by doctors that they only have a couple months to live. They decide they have a wish or goal they want to reach before passing on.
One man wants to skydive, he does so within the time period he had left, One woman wants to fall in love, she does so within the time period she had left. One child wants to play destiny on his xbox, and wield a hawkmoon. Many think its a useless wish, but for the child this wish is more important than anything else.
The child, can't afford to buy a ps3/ps4, due to huge medical expenses his family can't either. Neither does the child want a ps3/ps4 because starting a new character won't be the same experience. He loved the memories, he created with his guardian and with his friends on Xbox. Ps3/ps4 won't have that.
So the child waits, expecting the wait period to be a month, before he can venture forth for a hawk moon. The child's knowledge of call of duty made him believe it would be the same wait period from Activision's previous dlc wait time.
So for three months, he waited with the illusion that the hawkmoon would be obtainable the next month after it didn't arrive. His friends and family knew it wasn't going to arrive until a year had passed but they didn't have the heart to tell the child the truth.
The child.... passed away right as the fourth month had ended. He never got to wield the hawk moon...
Several months later, the hawkmoon finally arrives on Xbox. In memory of his younger brother, the older sibling gets on destiny and plays as the guardian that his brother wished wielded a hawk moon. He completed that wish sometime later.... It wasn't worth the wait... but it did bring closure to a weeping heart...
This could happen to anyone.
A year wait period is as same as a 1 year sentence in prison. It should be illegal to force anyone to wait a year for content that is already available to others.
1 month is acceptable. 1 year is unacceptable. Anything can happen with a year. Life shouldn't be locked behind a wait door.
Note: I obviously know Activision, and Sony, made a deal. I'm not complaining about it. I made this post to showcase how a year is an unacceptable wait period. If destiny is supposed to last 10 years, and if some dlc content is locked behind a exclusive paywall for a 1 year after release. 20 years will be wasted waiting for dlc to fully come out for Xbox gamers.
humans only have a lifespan of atleast 100 years. So why do some people have to waste 1/5 of their lifespan for bullshit 1 year wait timers. It's basically screwing both PlayStation and Xbox gamers. Since PlayStation gamers will never see their dlc strikes become nightfalls, until after it releases on Xbox.
Stop defending, and ignoring this scheme Activision has cooked up. It should be illegal to have someone wait in line for a year to receive equal content like others who already have them, especially when they both paid the same price, and both paid at the same time. It's discrimination plain and simple.
This is not about the -blam!-ing game, its about the practice of jailing content for a year, and the discrimination of paying the same price for the dlc content and having 1/4 of it locked behind a 1 year wait period. Its anti-consumer.
Quite frankly, it is should ILLEGAL. It's basically like they're selling an incomplete or missing product to half of the people who paid for it, and having to pay the same price.
The only ones who don't give a shit, are the mob of children in these forums, when you get a job and pay bills, then you'll understand why I'm posting about this.

Git gud.

It sucks cause the situation is all about money. Cheers to Sony for winning a bidding war against Microsoft.
-
I stopped reading and muted you at the title.
-
Kid still would have died without ever wielding the Hawkmoon while RNG laughed away
-
11 RepliesI stopped reading when you said that humans had a lifespan of 100 years and it was crap that we had to wait 1/5 of our life for a 1 YEAR exclusive.
pretty sure that 1/5 of 100 is 20, not 1.
-
Congrats this is the first post I read all day and you already won the dumbass of the day award
-
Buddy it's called life and sometimes in life it isn't fair and people have to wait
-
1 ReplyWhat the hell, this is the dumbest thing I've ever read
-
Do you not know how time works? With a ten year game and one year exclusives you will have on your hands an eleven year game not a twenty. Think before you post.
-
Then should Microsoft be sentenced to death for not letting me get halo? No componies pay for whenever ecusives they get for however long they get them. I don't believe in any ecusives, everyone SHOULD get every game/everything at the same time but that's not how business works.

Behold! The field in which I grow my fúcks. Lay thine eyes upon it and thou shalt see that it is barren.
Life can't wait a Year.
On this one point, you are correct. So put down the stupid -blam!-ing video game, get off the damn couch and go live your life, you jackass! Oh, and BTW - I've been playing on PS3 since day one and I don't have a Hawkmoon either.
-
Even if it was available, nobody said he would get it. RNG's a bitch.

14 RepliesIn the town where I used to live in South Australia, they had this real big problem with smoking and people leaving their discarded cigarette butts everywhere. So, the council built a giant cigarette in the center of town, as a way to show people the kind of eyesore they were making. It was about 5 feet wide and 20 feet high. Why do I mention this? Well, it was the only time in my life I've ever seen a bigger fag than OP.

The story is very sad, and the fact that the thing the kid wanted more than anything was a hawkmoon in a video game that is 100% fake is even more sad. There are so many great things in this world and he wanted to see something appear on a screen that he could move around in an imaginary world. The story says nothing to activisions one year content holdout. What it says is how sad it is that people lose reality through these games and I'm not saying it's the kids fault. But lets be honest, he would have got the hawkmoon, and then he would have gotten over its glory in a few days and realized that he should go do something amazing with his last year on earth.

1 ReplyMe waiting for food at a restaurant should be illegal too then... I could die of a heart attack while waiting.
-
When the game was released, we were tools it would be until fall that xbox would get hawkmoon. it says on the back of the good for hells sake
-
Edited by blackberrywolf: 6/20/2015 6:29:12 PMSo.... You don't want to wait 3 months for hawkawesome?
-
1 ReplyThe -blam!- did I just read?
-
First, getting sick, going to a hospital, and being told you have a few months to live, then wishing to wield a Hawkmoon on Xbox but not being able to afford a Playstation, and finally passing away could not "happen to anyone". Second, you are completely over exaggerating all your "points". Third, you aren't really looking from different perspectives.
-
Edited by LordofChaos: 6/20/2015 6:19:56 PMGuess what they don't care if you think it is unacceptable or not nor do they ever have to care and no it is not illegal nor will it ever be either. They do not ever have to be fair and equal in how they treat each console on what content each gets or when ever no matter what you think or want ever.

Agree all the way, great post
-
Very long and serious post but I agree 1 year is too long. It kind of made sense for the first game because they wanted to attract most of the new players to playstation. But I think destiny has seen the peak amount of new players it will get in a release of new content. Everyone for the most part will be set in the xbox or playstation camp. It makes no sense for this type of game that has such a huge time investment to keep the exclusives for 1 year. For the most part xbox players will never switch over to playstation for these exclusives. So sony is just wasting money. Once you hit that 500-600 hour mark you pretty much staying on that platform. Maybe if destiny 2 wipes all our progress then playstation might be able to steal xbox players away.
-
Wow, all the people in the comments are all ignorant. He has a point. One month maximum. One year is way too much
-
I agree with everything you said. People keep comparing this and saying "why don't you let us have halo then?" It's not the same. Platform exclusive games Are fine they sell the console. Dlc first on cross Platform games do not. No one is buying a console specifically based on destiny times exclusives so it's only doing the following. 1. Giving Xur less variety and making playstation players grind RNG brutality to get exclusives 2. Giving the nightfall rotation less variety and making it become stagnant 3. Making Xbox users feel a big slap in the face that this company they are shelling out the same loyalty and money to constantly give them less and saying "the true destiny experience is on playstation" well -blam!- me then right? 4. Making these weapons never even a possibility for most (I guarantee 2 septembers from now I won't be on this game looking for my jade rabbit exotic scout rifle. We will be on the brink of the 2nd game by then and well if they do the exclusive shit at E3 it may actually deter Xbox users from buying the game lowering their sales extremely

1 ReplySo the kid in your story never grew up to have his own family. Never got to meet the love of his life. Never knew what it means to be a father and a grandfather. And you are saying that the kid suffered because he couldn´t get a stupid Hawkmoon?
