Edit2: since this is the only sentence people want to read: Mechanics are easy, line rifle vandals need behaviour change so they don't group up. Edit 3: I'm not interested nor am I implying that I want assistance/to be carried through, If I can't complete an activity with all randoms after 4 hours somethings wrong.
Edit 4: I should also point out that when I mentioned gallies I didn't mean to imply that I have beaten skolas before and relied on the burns I meant to imply that even if you have gjallarhorn its still difficult even more so if your best rocket launcher is Truth or a Legendary. Also thanks for some of the tips you guys have provided I guess maybe the main issue is that even though we were focusing on adds we probably should have spent more time on them every rotation. also 200 comments woot, although I'm sure a few of them are "git gud scrub" oriented.
been with 3 different groups, first group didn't even come close, 2 group came really close but some dude left and then fireteam leader rage quit didn't even give me the check point, got into a 3rd group same deal came with in 10-12 rotations or 5 Heavy ammo synths each guys had to leave luckily they gave me CP, 4th group got really really close literally got him down to probably [|||] worth of health but we all got killed by the overly excessive line rifles (they travel in friggin packs wth). I'm starting to think that before the patch I stood more of a chance to complete it. the problem isn't the mechanics its just too many damn line rifles, the mechanics are easy, the captains are not that hard to down since nearly all of them (or actually all of them I don't remember) are melee dregs aren't really that big of deal its all the line rifles(wire rifle is the correct name for it but w/e). I understand its supposed to be hard but this is ridiculous I'd literally get more loot farming strikes/lower PoE the fight lasts well over an hour even if your team has a couple gallys and are experienced.
Edit: The main problem I encountered during the 5+ hours I tried, is line rifles, I and the others almost never died by captains or dregs every wipe far into the fight was caused by line rifles (during the fight were we almost killed him and had beaten the second set of mines I got quick scoped by a line rifle vandal while I was in the air), I'm not saying they need to nerf them but they should change the behaviour of them so they don't group up in packs they lay down more dps than skolas while roving around sniping

It just sucks that the servitors take more damage and are harder to kill now. That wasn't in the patch notes.
-
i beat it twice now im waitin on my elder cyphers on two different characters
-
It's actually easier just takes a little longer. With group that knows what their doing. Did you guys see the three Titans that took down Skolas by just punching him lmao?
-
Did it 3 times this week. Once with 1 buddy and 1 random. Two other times were with friends. It's not easy, but totally doable with communication and teamwork.
-
2 RepliesDamage boss kill adds, damage boss kill adds. Damage boss, mines, kill adds, damage boss mines kill adds, kill boss.

5 RepliesI've cleared him 8 times (I think) and twice this week with PuGs. Its easier now but takes longer so as long as you all communicate it should be okay. Some tips, Always kill all the adds first, Stick together as much as possible, as it makes it easier to pass the taint. Pass it on 5 seconds and count down from 10 to let everyone know to get ready to take it. Start left and then go right. Hold up on right generally as he cant teleport up there(unlike the left). Do Laps if the adds get too intense around the entire outside of the arena and come back to right to assess the state of the adds - the inside can be death. 2 of the mine spots are closer to right so they are easier to get but if its the far one go as a team around the edge of the map (invisible hunters / defenders can change this but they probably wont get there, dismantle and back without someone dying from the taint). Adds spawn in on the middle mine spot. Be aware of his health, the mines will spawn on 50% and 25%. You should be ready for this with supers charged and full heavy ammo. Just keep rotating around while these cool down if necessary. I like to use found verdict - captains and fang over fatebringer as you can hit the adds/skolas at range. If you have to die because of taint- do it behind cover on the outside lap section so people can revive you easily after a lap. If you have more than 1 gjallahorn you can burn him down pretty easily from 26% and do the last set of mines with no adds but if in doubt heavy the adds and take your time. Good Luck

This week is the easiest besides triple 365 Gjallarhorn solar burn

Edited by Spartan 872: 6/22/2015 10:48:33 AMThe line rifles were the least of my team problems. We moved in cover so our biggest problem was splash damage. Got us killed more then once. We got thought it after about 4 tries though.

A friend and I have been doing Skolas together a few weeks so far. We took a random off lfg one time and beat him first try. After the fight he said "Would you guys believe me if I said this is the first time I defeated skolas?" Btw, make sure you have a hunter. I have 3 so our little group is always set.
-
Line rifles grouping up makes them easy to take out quickly. Honestly this week is this easiest it's ever been. Keep at it and you'll do it.
-
It can be done as long as you stick together, keep moving, clear the ads before taking his health down and do not rush it.
-
Communicate, kill ads, and most importantly keep moving but move together!! You have to stay together. And if you can have a Titan with a purple titty.
-
Finished him in around 1 hour. Wiped 3 times. Not bad for my second attempt.
-
Then it means your group sucks. I had a guy on my list that was doing it for 3 hours and the 3rd quit so I joined. Still couldn't beat him. Other guy left too so it was just my friend of that team that stayed. Got it first time when the new 3rd joined

We did it the very first time we tried without the burns, pretty easy.
-
2 RepliesLol my fireteam did it this week and I don't even have a mic
-
Beat it 3 times. All attempts were with random groups. 1st time took us 2 hours. 2nd and 3rd try were done on first attempt. Find a good team and take it slow.

5 RepliesEdited by Netz Ausg: 6/22/2015 9:58:53 AM100% incorrect. Beat it twice this week fully legit.
-
From my experience Skolas was harder this week than last as our team actually wiped on it (we got too cocky on the mines) but that's because of all the positive modifiers, Brawler is the least usable one meaning our damage output is at its lowest, of course Juggler is the least painful negative multiplier as well so it may be harder in the future if we get something like Exposure or Trickle. I like to see this week as a neutral fight, no big effects for better or worse.
-
Dude what? It's easier than ever. Try harder?
-
ahah it's very funny because you are of this guy who only think fast dps with gally for your explain i don't have gally ans have defeated skolas 5 time , the gally is a weapon you and your team are the hand Play more teamplay and take the time and you will defeated it

1 ReplyI'm a 33 I got to skolas then got booted

2 RepliesJust spent the last 6 hours doing it. And we Rekt him! The three of us all ran defender titans and stuck together trading orbs. We always had a bubble up. Ran in to far rightside balcony. Killed the servitor. Got skolas to 75% health. Killed all adds. Tracked down another servitor. Got him down to just above 50% so mines wouldnt spawn. Cleared adds. Traded/built up more orbs. Hit him to start mines. Ran as a group to dismantle, each taking turns popping a bubble at the mines. Ran back to far right balcony. Cleared all the adds. Take him down to just above 25%. And clear adds. Trade/build up orbs. Knock him down below 25% to start next mine wave and repeated above method to clear mines. Get back to our spot. Bubble up and jellyhorned him to death. We each died a few times in the last run. But we always had a bubble ready. As long as 2 of us lived during the rush to a mine, we were safe. Finish dismantling. Then go and revive whoever died. It took us awhile to figure out our strat. But it worked. Goodluck! It's not foolproof. But its possible.

1 ReplyThe problem I see you having is organisation. It sounds like your running in fire teams without mics and trying to do skolas some sort of cheese? This week is great fun with TEAMWORK you can be the scrubiest scrub for all I care but if you use teamwork skolas is fun and doable. Understand the mechanics of when ads spawn and kill them without even worrying about skolas. If you somehow get swamped RUN the full map on the outside. Join back up and repeat. The fight is easy but it will take you 15mins.

2 Repliesjust pointing out that the "line rifle" is the one used by hobgoblins(and that f'n laser accurate slap grenade). vandals have the wire rifle, but i gotta tell you that it feels great to hit them back with one...A.K.A the queenbreaker's bow
