Any noob that comes along and buys the $80 legendary edition gets both expansions vip rewards and the exclusive exotic class items, the shaders and new emotes which you can only get through buying this edition. This means that Day 1 players who have spent $100 dollars + $40 for the taken king get less unless they re-buy all of the expansions which would mean that in total they would've spent $60 more than a noob buying the legendary edition. They should sell a Veteran Edition at $45 (seems fair) with the following: The Taken King All the Digital extra content from the collectors edition The weapon pack and the VIP loot what you think? fight for what is right #VeteransUnite You need to fix this Bungie!

Unfortunately economics don't agree with you. The reason most games drop in price over time is to capture more people. However the experience is worth different amounts to different people. The people who play day one it's worth 65 dollars. What you paid for was the ability to experience things first and experience thing during the hype. For say 40% of people that's fine for the other 60% (i'm just making up the numbers by the way) that is too high, they don't care about being first, and they won't buy it. 6 months later the game the company realizes that if they drop the price by 30$ they will get another 15% of people to buy it. The company gets that extra money and people who didn't care about being first play the game for a price they accept. However these late players miss out on the hype phase, and when they get there all of the experienced players can run circles around them. Now as for destiny and the taken king. Bungie already has your money. You gave them the 60, 90, or however much you paid willingly. But you've also had a year to play, and other things new players won't get. The players they're targeting with the collectors edition need extra incentive to pick the game up. Otherwise for them it's not worth it to be bothered. Also just looking at things, new players have to pay $80 for entry if you bought destiny at launch you paid 15 dollars less than them. Are new players getting a better deal? Depends. How much are your memories of the vault of glass, croata's end, and prison of elders or trials of Osiris worth to you? Most new players will never be able to experience that in the same way day one players did. Also, and I can't stress this enough. If you think you're being ripped off. Don't buy it. The best way to communicate something is with your wallet. If nobody pre-orders the taken king. I'm sure bungie will sweeten the deal.

Edited by famouzdev: 6/17/2015 7:41:36 PMI see where your coming from but the real issues is not price. Like most said the game is old most what new player are paying for is the expansions. Now I am upset about the new extras only being offered to people who buy new. Those of us currently playing should have all digital exclusives included in the expansion for 40 bucks. It cost bungie nothing to do so, but we have time so we will see what they come up with by September
-
It's because the game was a failure, and people wont buy it, so they have to give it away.
-
Don't put it all on Bungie. Activision isn't innocent either...
-
I totally agree with you, i don't understand the blind following people are doing. Even pre ordering already! Like wtf!

Since most stuff is already in the disc (vanilla destiny) and they seem to be reusing locations for the taken king they kinda have to give the game away to new players. I think that players are paying for the DLC content and for us day one players it seems to be over priced (40-80$) for just the taken king. In my opinion. The new content looks awesome and I can't wait for the new raid. With that said the content is going to become repetitive one beaten once just like any other game out there. I feel bad for the Xbox players though.

1 ReplyI totally agree with you OP. How DARE a free market company in a capitalistic society provide a product and charge money for it. The nerve.

It's called depreciation.

600 hours of gametime $90 That roughly equals 6.6 hours per dollar. Which imo is good enough to earn another $40 from me.

1 ReplyI only have to pay 40 dollars for TTK, a new player has to pay 59.99+40.00...I'm happy
-
Give me your account number and ach routing and i will personally pay the measly 40$ you are moaning about. Your dollar is very strong at the moment please either leave destiny all together or just f-uck off these forums. Writing a bibliography cos you have to pay a micky mouse $40 its 2015 man people like you make this world a shyte place

You're stupid, value goes down

2 RepliesExplain to me where it's saying 60$ for the DLC package, cause everywhere I've looked, it says 80$

www.theverge.com/2014/7/31/5957141/why-halo-creators-bungie-left-microsoft-to-make-destiny When people report things like this cognitive dissonance kicks and you want to say I have no reason to believe this, but look what's taken place since the game has come out versus what was promised.

Activision not bungie

Bethesda owes me money.

I have a buddy who stated from beginning he was gonna wait til full game with all expansions was released before he played. He knew how cheap it would be. Me on the other hand got caught up playing alpha and beta, i couldn't wait. This isnt a new thing, if your worried about money wait next time.....simple.
-
Sure, they should charge $140 for new players. That'll sell really well.

10 RepliesEdited by I 4ToZeRo I: 6/17/2015 7:10:52 PMYou sir, are an idiot. Go buy vanilla Destiny brand new today. It's ~$30.00. You know why that is? Because it's almost a year old. Games don't hold their value very well. Edit: Maybe first world / state of the art entertainment isn't your thing... Maybe you should go kick rocks or something. I heard that's real affordable!
-
It makes sense, we are closing in on a year of destiny of course it'll be cheaper and its a bundle, also supposed to be cheaper. Companies do this to bring in new players, you always risk this when you are an early adopter of a console or game. Plus Sony paid up for their times exclusives Microsoft didn't, crying about it won't change it. Keep crying if you want I'll be playing the game.
-
I don't care that theirs is cheaper I do care that they are holding content unless we rebuy
-
I like this game better than COD Never played battlefield I just want the expansion plus the stuff from the collectors edition with out buying the game over again
