if there's one thing I learned from e3 today, it is: wait for the game a year after release so that you save $75 on the dlc.
$35 from the expansion pass + $60 destiny copy (let's say standard edition in this specific case; it's even more depending on what edition you bought for release) + $40 from the taken King dlc = $135
the legendary edition for new players which includes all of the above in one disc is just $60.
$135-$60=$75 ----> that is how much you would've saved if you waited a year.
for us day one players, we wasted $75. I never thought I would say this, but I think I just about had enough.
yeah yeah, it's all depreciation, but a big price drop this fast? so, destiny, the dark below, and HoW will be worth $20 combined in a few months. lmao, I feel betrayed and ripped off as a day one player.
seriously am contemplating whether I should get this or a completely different upcoming game besides halo and Star Wars. I think a $10-$15 price drop from $40 will convince me for sure to get the dlc. sounds greedy, but whose really the greedy one?!
halo, battlefront, and horizon here I come!

I just wish they had released these shits for free bc the storyline for destiny wad shit and the hous of wolves swallowed cock when it comes to the story part
-
Yeah but you are also a noob and no one will play with you once you start because you are such a low level, also, $75 is not worth it to wait a year.
-
10 RepliesI wish I didn't buy halo CE, halo 2, Halo 3, halo ODST and Halo 4 when I could have waited 11 years to get them all together on one disc for the same price, God I'm so stupid.
-
1 ReplyPretty sure I've got my money's worth of entertainment from this game so far..
-
Lol nope doesn't suck at all, got friends that barely started playing and don't have many weapons, everything is difficult to them and they have to be carried. The vault of glass and Crota's End is a chore for them, they never experienced it as a 29 or 30 with little experience, they never got the satisfaction of beating the hardest part of the game with odds against us. I remember the feeling of atheon on hard as a 29, beating him first time was awesome. Crota first time on hard was great. Yet all these new players know nothing of it, even when they buy the game and everyone is 36 doing a 30 vog run, it's so easy that they will not be able to comprehend the fun and special memories it holds. All the weapons I have, armors, weapon parts to reroll, they struggle with it all. There are benefits to being a day 1 player that is not measured monetarily.
-
Don't care, got my monies worth and than some more. I think it will help the community more, bringing newbies in for TTK :).
-
Wait one year and start are 3 characters at level One? Or have 3 34s when the new dlc comes out for half the price (40). Hmm. Easy choice. It's not a waste of money at all. Don't worry son you'll see the logic when you grow up
-
If you can't fork out $75 for a whole year's worth of entertainment then you're broke.
-
And i feel your, all the grind you have to get the weapons i have, And some of them you cant get, that sucks...
-
3 RepliesIm American im impatient i don't wait for things i want...think of how expensive other entertainment sources are and this game is a steal if you play consistently, i have over 22 days playtime for 90 bucks, oh wait more i just bought a xbone so i bought 2 copies of destiny...still a steal
-
I'd be upset to...if I didn't understand basic economics and depreciation. It's a marketing strategy to draw people in. It happens to every game that is reliant on its DLCs. Certainly it isn't reasonable or good for business to have newcomers buy everything at full price. They'd be paying $140 at once unlike us who had to pay it over the course of a year. Your whining makes you look ignorant to the facts. If there was anything to bitch about, its the exclusive stuff noobs get.
-
1 ReplyGame of the year edition will only have how and tdb not the ttk.....you will still have to buy ttk... And money is only a thing just buy what you need to buy and leave the tears in your head.....
-
7 RepliesI feel bad that you think $135 is a significant amount of money.

Edited by Ne0nK0ala: 6/19/2015 3:30:50 PMYou feel sorry for day one players because they have money? At the end of the day all of the dlcs were only applicable at the time of their release, I feel sorry for anyone who buys the legendary edition actually expecting to play the content, good look to them as either there will be no one playing or their will at least be no one any good playing, kinda makes waiting pointless.
-
Absolutely right!! All you have to do is not play the game for a year and you can save $40. Dumbass.
-
It's amazing how many people don't understand economics. Then again this is the destiny forums. lel
-
Wow....way to start a troll post. All games are extremely cheap a year after it comes out. Day 1 players have most exotics and can do everything in the game. New players will still have to experience the long 100's of hours grind in order to get things including the Gjallarhorn. Grow up and quit trying to start shit. At age 12, you should be thinking more about being outside playing and less about others.

Edited by Steble01: 6/19/2015 3:15:07 PMDon't feel bad for me. 900ish hours into the game so far. That's about 10 cents an hour. 10 cents. Love it. Still continuing to enjoy playing. Though I agree some that there could be better incentives for day one players to buy TTK (let's be honest. They are incentives to buy the expansion. Nothing more. They are not rewards as you are owed nothing for playing a game). I will still be buying it.
-
Good to know some people still know how to do basic math, good for you.
-
1 ReplyEverything in life is cheaper when you wait!
-
Day 1 players? Look at your characters bud, it's clear you're being just as screwed as us.
-
no need to feel bad for me. i enjoyed the ride, still here and will be for a while.
-
2 RepliesYou have like month of playing time. You didn't get your money's worth? Tell me where else you can spend $100 on a months worth of entertainment.
-
I just regret not waiting longer...
-
13 RepliesYou just learned this? How long have you been playing video games? But wait! - despite your claim, you prove that you haven't learned a thing because you then go on to say "halo, battlefront, and horizon here I come!" You don't say it specifically, but I assume you mean you will get them on day one or soon thereafter... Here's a secret for you....
All 3 of those games will be considerably cheaper if you wait a year to buy them.
I guess it's true, you really can't fix stupid.
-
Your not really getting screwed over. I mean you could've waited until now to pick up the game. Or you could've bought things as it came out to experience it when it's new.
