if there's one thing I learned from e3 today, it is: wait for the game a year after release so that you save $75 on the dlc.
$35 from the expansion pass + $60 destiny copy (let's say standard edition in this specific case; it's even more depending on what edition you bought for release) + $40 from the taken King dlc = $135
the legendary edition for new players which includes all of the above in one disc is just $60.
$135-$60=$75 ----> that is how much you would've saved if you waited a year.
for us day one players, we wasted $75. I never thought I would say this, but I think I just about had enough.
yeah yeah, it's all depreciation, but a big price drop this fast? so, destiny, the dark below, and HoW will be worth $20 combined in a few months. lmao, I feel betrayed and ripped off as a day one player.
seriously am contemplating whether I should get this or a completely different upcoming game besides halo and Star Wars. I think a $10-$15 price drop from $40 will convince me for sure to get the dlc. sounds greedy, but whose really the greedy one?!
halo, battlefront, and horizon here I come!

8 RepliesWhy not wait two years, then you get even more content for even cheaper? Or check this out..wait three years and get even more for even less. Or maybe four years? 5? 6? Just saw a sweet 72 Corrolla on craigslist for $150, maybe it's time to finally buy that car I wanted?

1 ReplyYou day 1 players and vets are ruining the community and the forums, sorry but most of you sound like kids. You see 'exotic class items' 'emotes' and nearly jizz in your pants but then you see you have to re buy the game and dlc to have them. You fail to see that it was aimed at new players and we will no doubt get something similiar, we already know we can re roll class items etc for xp bonuses. Get over the fact you can't get something new players can or either put up the money or shut up. The luke smith interview was interesting ,but it seems to me the interviewer did every thing possible to piss him off , some of even seems like 'jest' to me. I have played since nov last year, put close to 60 days in (had 3 locks when i first started, deleted my alts and my main got deleted by accident, check destiny tracker as i know people will jump straight on my stats) but i don't feel like bungie owe me anything, we have had the game nearly a year and spent countless DAYS in-game. I will LoL so hard if when we get the weekly update we get a new set of emotes anyway, you guys are just looking for shit to use against bungie so you can try to get something you feel you 'have the have' that little cheaper. It's in your head, you don't need it.

2 RepliesLook into The Division. Unless it doesn't appeal to you.

Edited by MEGAtinyBOY: 6/23/2015 7:07:32 AMTaken King....... More like TAKEN THE PI$$... Not many day 1 players left in Destiny now... I am ;-) But wont be spending "MY" hard earned on it though ! Its been a great game for me... Kept me ticking over in 2015... Personally I will be waiting for the magical 6th November BO3 ;-)) Might wait till Xmas and get the TTK for a FIVER ;-))
-
3 RepliesI got at least $75 worth of entertainment
-
1 ReplyI guess playing the content when it was new was worth the extra 75 bucks, if that makes sense
-
6 RepliesSo I could have saved 75$. However for that 75$ I would not have: Made multiple new friends, had some of my best gaming moments ever, beaten all content, own almost every exotic weapon and armor piece, and have had an absolute blast over the last year. That was worth buying Destiny day 1, and I can't wait to see what The Taken King, and the next year of Destiny brings
-
I'm ok, I got this game 1st November for £25 on a special deal. Score 1 for me

1 ReplyExotic class items, shaders and emotes are more appealing to vets or someone who's never paid the game? I want to buy the 80 edition because this has became the only game I play but knowing that they aimed right at us with these "$40" extras doesn't sit right with me...its a business I know. I just think they should've awarded us with something besides an emblem, which I don't have enough room for, a sparrow that probably has the same perks as all the others and a shader(which probably looks just like my revenant from what I remember.) Il wait and see what the weekly update has in store for the year oners. I can see where people are getting mad, when I see it unfit for me il hang up the ruin wings play something else
-
I wont 60 $ to take u through raids for every one is free
-
My favourite part is that HoW will be about 4 months old and they're basically valuing it at $4. Only an 80% reduction for 4 month old content.
-
Yeah I know like how dare they lower prices on an old product to attract new players. So rude!
-
1 ReplyWe didn't waste anything; we got to play the game for an entire year before those taken king prices. We have been able to fine tune our Guardian skills and collect ridiculous amounts of materials, weapons, & armor. We have had thousands of gameplay hours of fun; I say it was all well worth the "extra" money we paid.
-
Edited by SBUSeawolf: 6/23/2015 2:39:21 AMIt won't be the same now, as it was over the last year.
-
Lol you're funny
-
I got the Ghost edition for my B-Day and I'm saving up to get The Taken King Collector's Edition. Lol this is probably the most money I've ever spent on a game, but I'm so addicted to it
-
Halo, battlefront and horizon. Are you waiting a year on these too??
-
4 RepliesHey retard, consider depreciation and simple economics. The expansion coming out, being fresh content, is worth more now than the year old vanilla game. Go to gamestop and pick up modern warfare 1 for 10 bucks and get back downstairs in the basement where you belong. Day one players should be entitled to the emotes and class items as well if they purchase the new content.

11 RepliesEdited by Dahm: 6/19/2015 4:37:49 PMLmfao...wait a year??? Hmm, do you really think a game would hold your interest to buy after a year? Save 75$? Are you that broke that you have to save 75$ on entertainment? If your that broke, you shouldn't be gaming. You buy new games if you think they're fun, you buy dlc and expansions if you like what you played and want more. Do you know how often people jump into a game that has dlc/expansions? Unless it's a bargain bin or a buddy trying to get you into it...it's low...stupidly low... Look at WoW. Base game plus expansions. Sure it's all bundled. But more expansions are on the way....better wait until the final expansion is out and then buy it all. Your logic is flawed. Don't wait for the "final product," you may find something else in the future. Oh, and you will have to wait for the final product on that future game because it would have dlcs/expansions too... Better just stop gaming now, you'll forever be in limbo, waiting for a game to release all it's content but moving to another "unfinished game." *Smh at my kids generation

5 RepliesI ain't broke like you so Idc :)
-
4 RepliesOmg stfu, Do u want me to buy u the dlc?
-
Day one player here. I love the game still I will buy the special addition one. And all you haters and crybabies can suck it
-
dayone player here. I had one year fun time with my buddies running strikes for Gjall and raiding the VOG and crota. worth the money.
-
It's just standard fair, pre-order bs. Who cares. Seriously. Last year before vanilla was released if they would've given the option to play now, or get a handful of extra emotes/bonds/shaders and have to wait another year for it, I'd still go with the day one edition. It's basic GOTY shiz with the run of the mill retailer exclusive preorder bonus hype that never amounts to anything in endgame content. I don't understand why people don't get this. You don't "have" to buy the game again. You're considering it, because you're hard up for something exclusive despite its significance. If anything, people with this mentality are mad because their sense of entitlement outweighs reason.
-
You're an idiot
-
1 ReplyOnly way to make it fair is to give us TTK for free
