PSA: Do You Want Pre-DLC Vendor Gear?
Then I have the solution for you. Please note that this not guaranteed or easy or quick. It's a grind. But anyway, to get pre-DLC vendor gear all you have to do is run [b]Tiger Strikes[/b], Allow me to explain. Since Tiger Strikes are open to everyone including those without DLC they can only generate rewards that are pre-dlc. It wouldn't make sense for someone who doesn't own HoW to be given a HoW weapon in a playlist that doesn't require it. Also what you get in an Engram is determined the second you pick it up, not when Rahool decodes it. Thus we couldn't open any blues we got before HoW because they were already generated into HoW gear. Therefore, if you get a legendary from a [b]Tiger[/b] Strike it will decode into a pre-DLC. While helping a friend level up an alt in Tiger Strikes, I got a legendary boot Engram. It decoded into the Sojourner Boots, boots sold by Dead Orbit pre-DLC. They are on my Exo Hunter. If you're a vet like me and desperately want your old gear, RIP TDYK, or a late spawn then you have a shot at getting it through Tiger Strike but only if you're willing to grind. Good luck.

It is so sad that we have to resort to this. I'm pretty sure it's an oversight, since Bungie seems so determined to obliterate old weapons and armor from the face of the Earth. Hopefully this grinding will clue them in to what's going on, and MAYBE stop being assess and make the old equipment available SOMEWHERE.

8 RepliesNo. This is very inaccurate. A huge thread was made by myself and a few others last week and we ran research into obtaining vanillas. -Tigers no longer drop legendaries at the reward screen, the only engrams on the loot table are vanilla blue armour engrams and blue weapons (not engrams). They can turn into vanilla legendaries but only armour. -Engrams picked up off of the floor are the same as any other strike/ patrol. They dont differentiate. The only way to get legendary vanilla engrams is via loot chests on patrol and the chances are astronomically small.

1 ReplyI just got the season pass last week. Have been running Tiger for a while, never seen any Legendary engrams from every single strike. But I got 2 from daily missions, and they are HOW armors. Here is something interesting, blue engrams do drop Legendaries. 1 out of 10, I suppose so. the last time I opened 20 at once, 2 vendor Legendaries dropped (still HOW armors and weapons)

I was running Tiger strikes with a friend who has NOT bought any DLC yet, and he got a legendary that decoded into TDB gear, with the I watermark in the corner. He hasn't gotten any HoW stuff yet, but we'll see. Just saying, his legendary primary engram he picked up dis NOT decrypt to anything vanilla.

Bump. Noobs are going to love anyone whos going back to tiger for old gear. Just make sure you guys make yourself a lower level, find players, then go back to high level and carry.

There are real noobs in that playlist, I didnt even realize it until I was doing this last night. I made myself a level 24 or 25 by equipping white armor pieces that rahool sold me, then starting matchmaking, and got some really low grimoire level 23s and 24s. Needless to say, I made myself high level again, and began shredding the strikes we did together, and revived them as fast as I could when they died. I didnt get a single legendary, and I didnt expect to right away, but it felt good to help some noobs out. I really hoped one of them would get a legendary, but it didnt happen. Going to play more tiger strikes later tonight.
