As the game currently stands, the Prison of Elders weapons have been the most useless end-game weapons to be released so far. It's not solely because of the Shank Burn/Dreg Burn issue, but because of the fact that those perks take up a main perk slot. They're not like Oracle Disruptor or Hive Disruptor, and sit below a main perk in the upgrade tree, they eat up a main perk entirely. There were a few weapons that dropped during Crota's End which had their unique perks that were rather useless for anything outside of fighting hive, like Dark Breaker and Lich Bane, but this time around EVERY weapon is in that boat. The perks themselves really don't help remedy the issue at all either just because of how weak they are.
Shank Burn? ~123 bonus damage to Shanks
Dreg Burn? ~123 bonus damage to Dregs
Vandal Burn? ~123 bonus damage to Vandals
Demotion? A low chance of stunning Fallen Captains
Mutineer? A low chance of suppressing a Fallen Captain's abilities
Disciplinarian? 75 bonus damage to Fallen enemies
And you thought THOSE justify taking up a main perk slot? I could see Mutineer or Demotion ending up as a main perk on maybe the Servant of Aksor just because it's Arc damage and doesn't really need any more perks, but why Bungie? Why make the Prison of Elders weapons so underwhelming compared to the Vault of Glass and Crota's End weapons? These weapons were always so interesting to get since they weren't bound by the 'perk 1 slot' and 'perk 2 slot' rule, they could have a Perk which was normally restricted to the first slot in the second if they wanted to and vice versa. They could also end up like Fatebringer and have a perk which that weapon class normally couldn't get on its own.
So please, Bungie, redo the Prison of Elders perks. Get rid of them entirely except for maybe Disciplinarian, give us a real perk on the weapons such as Feeding Frenzy and the like, and move Disciplinarian (Or a Fallen Disruptor perk) to a node under the second perk. Make them actually feel worth using alongside the other Raid Weapons, because as they currently stand they're about as useful as Rare weapons. If you guys really have no intention to ever rework the perks on the weapons, at the least let us reroll them at Variks to try to get a different Fallen-themed perk!
Share your thoughts below and let's try to keep this bumped up for Bungie to see.
The current perk upgrades on the Prison of Elders weapons are far too weak to be justified as main perks; please remove them entirely and add in a real second perk to each of the Prison of Elders weapons alongside Disciplinarian or a real Fallen Disruptor as a special perk underneath the second perk like Oracle Disruptor and Hive Disruptor were.
EDIT: Someone suggested that we should be able to reroll our Fallen-specific perks at Variks through giving him a Weapon Core. The idea of that was to remedy having to obtain the weapon itself numerous times. It was also specifically stated that the Primary weapons should have static elements in regards to the rerolling, which means if you have a Void Wolves' Leash II you don't have to worry about it becoming Solar and vice versa. Although this isn't the best solution to this, I think it's a pretty fair idea and would be OK with the system for the time being.

1 ReplyAfter the "no raid" announcement, there were a lot of threads with people saying that no weapon from a three person activity should be better than a "real" raid weapon. Welp. That's what we got.

Edited by Pain the Human: 6/16/2015 1:31:43 PMMore bosses. More loot. More PoE's in general. Like a 35 for every boss type. More planets. New Solar System. More booklets that male a special edition special for $40 extra. Then pay $40 more for story that will be around 35mins to play. One raid to keep you happy until the next is ready. FTG

those perks should be like oracle disrupter, and not take up a main perk slot

And whats the point of elemental primaries? To beat nightfall?

1 ReplyI want a rocket launcher that does triple damage on dregs

They should be like Hive and Oracle disruptor, where they don't take up an official perk slot.

Good to see this topic is gaining real traction. Hopefully Bungie acknowledges it and choses to address it. 81% of the time of this post agree to adust the weapons.. That's some 3921 people, not a small number.

The only answer can be, . Bungie has no idea what it's doing at this point. Every step they take forward, they also take 10 steps back. They seem to be clueless about even the most simplest of game mechanics, and still have no f*cking clue how to add matchmaking for some reason.

Ha I thought I was the only person who thought this regarding the perks. I like the guns stats they are slightly better than average legendaries but the perks are so lame Small chance Moderate damage Possibility of Even the descriptions lack confidence in the very perks they are describing

They need to redo the weapons, not just the perks

I need my shank burn

They should redo the guns, what I've not vied is that the PoE perk takes the place of a whole third perk, where in old raid gun it would be under the third perk. Bungie needs to fix this and add the 3rd perk to the PoE weapons, they're incomplete!

I don't mind the perks themselves, I just wish that they were additional perks, not one of the main ones. As side perks they are a bit useful, but being main perks takes away our chance of really good rolls. On a side note, I wish one of those abilities was a servitor burn. Now that would be useful.
