[Poll] Should Bungie redo the Prison of Elders weapons' perks?

Yes, redo the Prison of Elders perks

7573

No, they are fine the way they are

455

I'm indifferent on the matter because they suck

As the game currently stands, the Prison of Elders weapons have been the most useless end-game weapons to be released so far. It's not solely because of the Shank Burn/Dreg Burn issue, but because of the fact that those perks take up a main perk slot. They're not like Oracle Disruptor or Hive Disruptor, and sit below a main perk in the upgrade tree, they eat up a main perk entirely. There were a few weapons that dropped during Crota's End which had their unique perks that were rather useless for anything outside of fighting hive, like Dark Breaker and Lich Bane, but this time around EVERY weapon is in that boat. The perks themselves really don't help remedy the issue at all either just because of how weak they are.
Shank Burn? ~123 bonus damage to Shanks Dreg Burn? ~123 bonus damage to Dregs Vandal Burn? ~123 bonus damage to Vandals Demotion? A low chance of stunning Fallen Captains Mutineer? A low chance of suppressing a Fallen Captain's abilities Disciplinarian? 75 bonus damage to Fallen enemies
And you thought THOSE justify taking up a main perk slot? I could see Mutineer or Demotion ending up as a main perk on maybe the Servant of Aksor just because it's Arc damage and doesn't really need any more perks, but why Bungie? Why make the Prison of Elders weapons so underwhelming compared to the Vault of Glass and Crota's End weapons? These weapons were always so interesting to get since they weren't bound by the 'perk 1 slot' and 'perk 2 slot' rule, they could have a Perk which was normally restricted to the first slot in the second if they wanted to and vice versa. They could also end up like Fatebringer and have a perk which that weapon class normally couldn't get on its own. So please, Bungie, redo the Prison of Elders perks. Get rid of them entirely except for maybe Disciplinarian, give us a real perk on the weapons such as Feeding Frenzy and the like, and move Disciplinarian (Or a Fallen Disruptor perk) to a node under the second perk. Make them actually feel worth using alongside the other Raid Weapons, because as they currently stand they're about as useful as Rare weapons. If you guys really have no intention to ever rework the perks on the weapons, at the least let us reroll them at Variks to try to get a different Fallen-themed perk! Share your thoughts below and let's try to keep this bumped up for Bungie to see. -tl;dr-
The current perk upgrades on the Prison of Elders weapons are far too weak to be justified as main perks; please remove them entirely and add in a real second perk to each of the Prison of Elders weapons alongside Disciplinarian or a real Fallen Disruptor as a special perk underneath the second perk like Oracle Disruptor and Hive Disruptor were.
EDIT: Someone suggested that we should be able to reroll our Fallen-specific perks at Variks through giving him a Weapon Core. The idea of that was to remedy having to obtain the weapon itself numerous times. It was also specifically stated that the Primary weapons should have static elements in regards to the rerolling, which means if you have a Void Wolves' Leash II you don't have to worry about it becoming Solar and vice versa. Although this isn't the best solution to this, I think it's a pretty fair idea and would be OK with the system for the time being.

  • Shank Burn and Dreg Burn are the only ones that need to go. Replace them with a Captain Burn and Revear Burn

Rewards suck. And the weapons all suck. Armor sucks. Was there anything good about how? Oh the double or triple dips of loot chest on patrols. Oh wait that is gone now and the rewards for those suck now too. Public events as well now no rewards. No more big patrol groups. Sucks. Not expecting much for next expansion or re buying everything I already own.

      • How about a burn that affects just the fallen? If you need a specific enemy, captain and servitor burn.

        • Let us re roll the perks via Varrik. Only P.O.S., P.O.E. perks are in the roll.

Bump. On the bright side of the crummy weapons, I've gotten lucky enough to get Disciplinarian on all of the Special/Heavy weapons aside from the Servant of Aksor. Hope you guys are having some success with the perks you're getting.

              • I think they should add a perk called Alpha-Killing Fallen causes Super to charge significantly faster. Picking off smaller mobs can help you deal with the big guys.

              • just tore my 6 dreg hand cannon down for parts. Have word and fatebringer why would I need that. That kind of applies to most of the weapons. There are some that are good in this DLC but most associated with the POE are just super crap.

                • All prison of elders weapons and armor are designed such that we dismantle them upon the taken king's arrival. This is to avoid bungie having to increase vault space to accommodate the how gear. Think about it. If the house of wolves weapons were as powerful as VoG or even to some extent Crota weapons, then players would want to keep them, and bungie would have to increase vault space. They probably cannot do this to a reasonable standard with x360 and PS3. However, if they cut off last gen consoles from ttk, they'd miss out on whatever cut of profit they gain from those consoles. And we all know how much they hate to miss out on money.

                    • No If you look at TTK stuff you'll see a giant shank so maybe bungie was smart in making it shank burn because you would want a wepon to deal more bonus damage to a boss right well in the TTK trailer you'll see a hunter shooting a bow at a giant shank (he is in the air btw)

No. The PoEs weapons and armor are desgined to function like the gear SETS from Diablo. In Diablo, these items of modest power indvidually...but when combined with other items of the set they functioned synergistically. So the sum of the items was more powerful than the individual pieces. By the time you had the whole set, your character was extremely powerful as a result. The POEs weapons have less perks, because the weapons are designed to be used with the performance-enhanncing perks that part of the POEs ARMOR sets. Even with out the additional perks, the PoEs weapons are the PERFORMANCE equivalent of any raid weapon out there. IN some cases they are better. For example....everyone complained BITTERLY about the all-strength rolls on the first armor pieces that came out. But few people bothered to look at the perks that increased armor, agility, melee, grenade, and recovery when fighting the Hive in the PoEs. Equip the full set---and you won't f-ing notice the lack of intellect or discipline when fighting the Hive...and youre Guardian will be one DIFFICULT to kill SOB in the Hive room. TLDR: You don't need the extra weapon perk, because the armor perks take its place. So the point is not to get ONE set of all-puprpose, do-everything armor like so many PvE players are used to treating raid armor (when all that mattered was level advantage). The point is to acquire MULTIPLE sets of gear, and swap in-and-out pieces with the combination of perks you want in order to best leverage you'r play style. Lastly.....look at your Reef map. There are two identical areas that are still not filled in. Expect to see higher level Arenas in future DLCs..for which the gear that you are currently turning your nose up at will likely prove to be VERY valuable.

                        • They're awful, but I'm not sure if they should go around trying to make them better. There's nearly nothing they can do to make them better than previous raid weapons.
