Ever since the game came out I heard lot of people in the community complain about a lack of story in the game. Since I started playing it on release I never seen this issue. People say "the story is in the Grimiore card", I disagree with that as well, those cards are background lore to enhance the main story, and hint at things to come. I also can understand if people don't like how the story is being told but I truly feel the idea there is a huge lack of story is misled, I think there is a lot of story. One thing I do feel is bad is that lot of Ghost's dialogue sounds funny and I don't think its the actor, I think it was the editing. I came into Destiny with an MMORPG background and I also came into Destiny knowing they plan to keep this universe alive for many years. So I noticed everything they were feeding me in these missions were leading up to other things. Destiny missions were like episodes of a TV series and the game is Season One. We don't just have a main story we have side stories as well. I feel also that the DLCs are more based on side stories as they want to leave the main story line for people that buy the main game and not the DLCs, which makes sense. There is so much I can talk about this but I don't want to make this post too long. I do believe the story can be done better, better editing, better dialogue. I do like that lot of story is told through observation so we are truly experiencing it and not just being spoon feed every little detail. I would like to see more cut-scenes and if in a Fireteam I see my whole team in it and not just me in them. But most of all I want answers to the hundreds of questions I have about what is going on, which is a sign of good story telling (They give you enough to intrigue you but don't give enough so that you are drawn in by your own curiosity and imagination). I think that is what is confusing, people are taking lack of information as lack of story. I think there is a lot of story going on we just got the start of something way bigger. I can't wait to see this universe unfold over time. I do ask people that think there is a lack of story to replay the main game story missions again. Pay attention to what Ghost says, pay attention to your surroundings, pay attention to your enemies. What color of armor is that enemy wearing cause that armor will tell you what faction they are in. Ask why certain enemies are in that area, ask why your character is doing this mission, ask what the success of your mission was. You may finding yourself connection dots you didn't even notice existed. Each mission is its own story linking to another bigger story. And most important realize this is only part 1 of Destiny and that there are multiple big stories following along with the main story.
