Rebalance doesn't equal nerf
I use thorn and this gun is hilariously broken i got 4 marks of the unbroken running it in the banner, it's a 2 shot to the head and you simply can't outgun a thorn user unless they're reloading xD I'm sorry I had to turn to thorn but red death just couldn't compete in the banner that Got flooded with the last word and thorn
So as an avid thorn used I honestly won't be stuck up and say it doesn't need a nerf because I suck that I have to have a broken weapon, but because it's in all truthfulness a broken gun
red death received a silent nerf, during January if you killed a thorn user with red death it would completely negate and fully heal the burn, now it heals up until the next tick of damage hits you, so bungie please rebuff red death

You know that the dot doesn't stack... Right?

That red death bit makes sense, as the healing from red death stops at any damage after it starts. So it makes perfect sense to start healing, then stop at the next tick. Can still save you given how little damage the DoT actually does. They nerfed the DoT to 3 once before and it made the gun complete and utter trash. DoT doesn't stack (unless that changed really recently), one of the oldest complaints with the gun was that the first hit caused DoT but subsequent hits do not until *after* the first set of DoT has run it's course. Having used Thorn I have seen this to be the case, where I die thinking I've got a postmortem with the DoT but it only does a couple ticks after that, meaning it had nearly run its course and was *not* stacking when I died. Also, it is not two shots to the head. It's two shots to the head plus waiting for the DoT, which gives people plenty of time to either kill you or mitigate the DoT, something no other gun allows. I outgun Thorn users all the time, it's not nearly as hard as you make it out. I get outgunned while using it all the time as well, it's not a win button anyone can dominate with. I've used Red Death, Three Little Words, Conduit, Gheleon's Demise, and up until they ruined ARs Grim Citizen 3, Vanquisher 8, Up For Anything, as well as things like Venation 3, a lash, red hand 9 just as well. 5 RepliesHow about this: don't nerf it and instead stop whining like a fucking middle school girl that wasn't invited to a birthday party. Seriously shut the fuck up

Grow up all the nerf post is why the game is broken

Gr8 b8 m8, I r8 8/8

You know that the dot doesn't stack... Right?

Nothing. If any thing maybe boost auto rifles and leave everything else and that way everything is equal again.
-
DoT can't stack dumb dumb and why is there option to not nerf it?
-
DoTs never stacked in the first place, and where is the none option? All they did to it was give a bigger mag, more stability and a faster reload. Before that, everyone thought that it was Crap, now everyone calls OP when they see thorn.

Nerf op
-
6 RepliesDude never thought of that (talking about the death one) if you kill the guy you stop taking damage that would be perfect and make it balanced
-
If they nerf thorn will you then start a crusade against TLW. Nerf all the guns! How about you just get better in crucible and stop complaining. Whenever I see that a bunch of people are going to use thorn, I just pull out my Hawkmoon with a smile on my face.

Nothing.

The poison really should go away if the user dies but really, don't nerf it
-
Looked for none of the above. Was not here. Disappointed.

I'm not choosing any you just got learn none of the above

3 RepliesOr it's perfect the way it is

1 ReplyPlease stop with these threads. Thorn is fine!!! GIT GUD

Leave it alone and buff autos!
-
In every single shooter, a handful of weapons emerge that gain notice in top tier play. This is universally true. The ones with the best balance achieve it by creating lethal tools across the board, not by nerfing the top gun until a new flavor of the month. The only thing on that list that would be acceptable is removing the dot by killing the user. That gives anyone a chance to survive the two shot by just winning the fight. Restore auto rifles to where they once were and give scouts a better critical multiplier and every weapon class will be lethal.

2 Repliesthe DoT should only proc on criticals. that way scrubs who can't aim don't get burn kills

Deez nuts

8 RepliesI've outgunned plenty of Thorn users with Timepiece...

1 ReplyWhere is the option for no nerf, stop being a little bitch and get good?
-
2 RepliesHow about the option to buff other weapons? By diminishing the dot, you would be better off using any hand cannon with higher fire rate because it would still be a 3 hit kill. By diminishing the impact you get the same dilemma. The only reason it's in such high usage is because of the kill secure feature built into the exotic perk. By removing that, you effectively make every hand cannon better because they have two good perks rather than this gun that has too much ammo to make final round good and a empty dot. Everyone will simply forget once automatic guns are able to be randomly fired and kill people.

Here's the thing that blows my mind... There's no nice way to say it: people are stupid. Thorn was always a good weapon for PvP. It was always a two headshot kill. The things they buffed (reload speed/stability) were not huge game changers for the way the weapon performed in PvP. Increasing its mag size to 9 is actually stealth balance, because now it takes longer to get to Final Round, if you do at all. As it is, Thorn's range/stability are in line with other Hand Cannons, with your mid-tier perks allowing you to customize the weapon for user preference. What changed is that before it was buffed, few people finished the Thorn bounty, because all they ever heard was "Thorn sucks." There were only a few voices in the wilderness (see what I did there?) who would tell people, it's actually pretty good in PvP, give it a try. Once Thorn was buffed, the herd mentality took over and everyone started using Thorn. It's like Auto Rifles. I don't care what anyone says, Auto Rifles are still viable PvP weapons, but no one uses them now because they heard "nerf" and abandoned the weapon. Same with Fusion Rifles.
