Vault of Glass relic holders going extinct?
So I was playing the Vault of Glass with a bunch of randoms this week, good group of guys. That being said, we got stuck on the gate keeper checkpoint. Well it turns out that I was the only person able to use the relic. Everyone was a lvl 31 or 32. Not good. Had a 32 tell me that he had no idea what to do in the VoG raid. I don't think that I'm an elitist prick but I feel like the raids should be unlocked. Beat VoG normal before you can attempt VoG hard. Beat VoG hard before you can attempt CE normal. Beat CE normal before you can attempt CE hard. Just my opinion.
[b]EDIT 1:[/b] I am loving to hear that some us relic holders are still around. I think that when looking for a fresh VoG run on the forums that I need to start requesting for relic holders.
[b]EDIT 2:[/b] Just an observation that I've made that my relic holding bretheren can probably agree with. When holding the relic during the Atheon battle I have noticed a scary amount of guardians shooting oracles with non VoG weapons. In my opinion the only non VoG oracle disruptor weapon being used to destroy oracles should be "Super Good Advise" since it's essentially unlimited bullets on a heavy machine gun with no need to reload.
[b]EDIT 3:[/b] I think tonight I'm going to look for a group to run VoG with. Requirements will be maxed out lvl 30 VoG raid gear only. Oracle disruptor weapons only. Exceptions to that could be the Vex Mythoclast, Super Good Advise, Icebreaker, Truth, and Gjallarhorn. No Crota weapons. 2 Hunters, 2 Warlocks, and 2 Titans. Vault of Glass run in the purest form. I think it would be a fun nostalgic run.

I always enjoyed running relic with my warlock, made feel different like I wasn't just needed to kill things that I needed to help the team at the certain time

I've run relic multiple times on VOG, provably successfully done templar as the relic guy over 25 times (hard). It's easy to learn if they are willing, and now ill usually stay quiet so that other people get a chance to do it (unless we wipe more than 5 times lol)

I love running relic and do it well. That being said, I've had so many instances where you have a full team of 31 or 32s that have never used relic or even what a portal is. People reading this that isnt a good relic runner. Please practice on normal vog

I don't run it often, but I can do it. I just recently started running sword too. My problem was getting the game in early December so the friends I ran the raids with all knew what to do and pretty much carried me. I had to learn when I started carrying others. It's really not hard. One thing I hate about running relic is that I usually have two guys with 272 non VoG weapons trying to kill oracles. I try not to pick it up since I can solo the oracles with SGA. It may take a couple attempts, but you can teach them to use relic. You can't make them do anymore damage though.

27 RepliesAnother thing that gets me is guys who have never touched the relic and have no idea how it works, yet they bark out orders the whole Atheon fight. This happened to me a couple months ago: **Teleport, pick up the relic and go take care of the enemies** Him: I need a cleanse. Me: Yep. Him: Dude I need a cleanse. Me: In a second. Him: WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, MY SCREEN IS ALMOST BLACK? Me: IT HAS TO CHARGE FIRST, CALM YOUR ASS I'm not an idiot, I keep my teammates well cleansed and make sure they stick together so I don't have to burn any extra shield time chasing them around, but don't try to tell me how to do it when you don't even know about the shield cooldown. And you're welcome for super-ing that last oracle because your slow ass couldn't keep up killing them.

3 RepliesI run relic all the time now, my first couple VoG runs back when I first started playing was the roughest. Some of you need to calm down and just be more helpful and friendly. I would've never caught on as quick if it wasn't for the rare good helpful people in the destiny community . I'm always seeing lvl32 with max gally only or if you don't know don't bother. At the same time though I do agree with some points like having to complete on normal to join hard mode, that can get endlessly exhausting to explain when your all on hard mode. Try to take a step back and host runs to educate and help noobs don't get hateful and mad at someone for not knowing what you already had to learn yourself. Oh and the raid weapons only restrictions I see I just roll my eyes at because how do you expect people to earn all those weapons without ever getting to run VoG and loot them? Seriously I only managed my weapons and gear because I said screw joining groups I make my own and run now, it was the only way I could raid everyone don't want a upcomer trying to get better n get geared out

I'm a relic dude from way back. Well that is to say I'm competent with it for the templar gatekeeper and atheon. Learning it for templar on hard is quite thrilling I gotta say. Now if only I could get some practice with the sword in crota damn it

That sucks man. Once at the gate keeper I put it like this, it's easy to explain what to do while in the gate. I find the most difficult part is when the praetorians start coming out of the portals. I usually tell someone with a machine gun to help the other relic holder. I am good on my own portal. Regardless of how you explain it, newbs seem to have the toughest times with the Oracles in the sky. I don't know if they don't do enough damage or they miss the first one but we usually end up getting you succumb to the oracle. I run out like a smart man and advise the same to my comrades, but usually no one listens.
