Vault of Glass relic holders going extinct?
So I was playing the Vault of Glass with a bunch of randoms this week, good group of guys. That being said, we got stuck on the gate keeper checkpoint. Well it turns out that I was the only person able to use the relic. Everyone was a lvl 31 or 32. Not good. Had a 32 tell me that he had no idea what to do in the VoG raid. I don't think that I'm an elitist prick but I feel like the raids should be unlocked. Beat VoG normal before you can attempt VoG hard. Beat VoG hard before you can attempt CE normal. Beat CE normal before you can attempt CE hard. Just my opinion.
[b]EDIT 1:[/b] I am loving to hear that some us relic holders are still around. I think that when looking for a fresh VoG run on the forums that I need to start requesting for relic holders.
[b]EDIT 2:[/b] Just an observation that I've made that my relic holding bretheren can probably agree with. When holding the relic during the Atheon battle I have noticed a scary amount of guardians shooting oracles with non VoG weapons. In my opinion the only non VoG oracle disruptor weapon being used to destroy oracles should be "Super Good Advise" since it's essentially unlimited bullets on a heavy machine gun with no need to reload.
[b]EDIT 3:[/b] I think tonight I'm going to look for a group to run VoG with. Requirements will be maxed out lvl 30 VoG raid gear only. Oracle disruptor weapons only. Exceptions to that could be the Vex Mythoclast, Super Good Advise, Icebreaker, Truth, and Gjallarhorn. No Crota weapons. 2 Hunters, 2 Warlocks, and 2 Titans. Vault of Glass run in the purest form. I think it would be a fun nostalgic run.

The amount of people who jump smash harpies when they claim they are a pro relic holder during the templar cp amazes me.

I've had that happen too. The team was so scared if trying anything that I ended up soloing both sides at gatekeepers, and begged someone to just walk in and pick up the other relic. We wiped several times because no one would do it.

I take charge of the relic only cause its my favorite part of VoG! I love shooting that Templar, and smashing down into the ground to kill the harpys! Its great fun overall

I always end up running relic, ppl are afraid to do those kinda jobs. It's sad, I rather you be eager to learn and screw up a few times then utterly refuse to run it. For lack of better words your cowards (I don't mean to offend, honestly) by being to afraid to learn new things and become an asset to your fireteams. It is odd to say this, but we have way to many Indians and not enough Chiefs. Pick up the relic guys, and tell the Impatient[b][/b] guys in your raid team to either shut up or give you pointers so you can learn!

We're few and far between bud, I always take charge and run relic it's the best job at Templar and Gatekeepers.

I love relic I take every chance I get, I can solo either portal, take out 2-3 oracles during atheon and solo bottom on Templar. I love learning that stuff in raids, happiest was when I first sword bearered crota on hard. Always down to freelance or sword.

For those start play Destiny after the release of TDB, it is quite "natural" that we don't know how to run VoG. You can only get yourself to 32 by Crota's or IB. VoG cannot. And you really need a group in order to play VoG, which is a heavy tax. For Crota's, things much more easier. I do want to run VoG but after couple of studying in utube that is just so much overwhelming (I am a guy want to catch some idea before I will try with the real thing). And you are unable to "mess thing up" with yourself in VoG: say you can't solo and go in VoG and try and learn without others. Still those weapon in VoG HM are soooooo interesting.

Everyone wants it done asap, no one wants their time wasted. Unfortunate really. I have been slowly learning how to run each raids relic but still fuk up pretty often.

I utterly destroy with relic on templar. we killed him in under 1 min. on normal mode with no teleports

Yeah that always has been a prob since TDB dropped. I dont get why all these fools jump into raid modes they dont have the skills to complete. Normal mode is for learning, stay there till you got a grip on the positions and strats.

Nice to not be constantly chewing through heavy (especially when random groups might take a few tries to settle into a rhythm) Recently my Atheon load pit has been VoC/BlackHammer/SGA. SGA for containment fields/oracles VoC as backup for oracles and normal adds BH for Atheon, so long as he isn't dancing from rockets/grenades it destroys him.

I also think everything should be unlocked. It should be like steps, and you should not be able to skip them. Also, vendor gear should go back to light level 27, so that the max rank you can get from it is level 29. This is to ensure you can only get to 30+ from either raids or iron banner/queens wrath/trials of osiris.

NOOOOOO, I'm a holder, and probably one of the fewest who know how to use it properly and don't try to go Chuck Norris and drop the relic and try to melee a Minotaur from the past
