Vault of Glass relic holders going extinct?
So I was playing the Vault of Glass with a bunch of randoms this week, good group of guys. That being said, we got stuck on the gate keeper checkpoint. Well it turns out that I was the only person able to use the relic. Everyone was a lvl 31 or 32. Not good. Had a 32 tell me that he had no idea what to do in the VoG raid. I don't think that I'm an elitist prick but I feel like the raids should be unlocked. Beat VoG normal before you can attempt VoG hard. Beat VoG hard before you can attempt CE normal. Beat CE normal before you can attempt CE hard. Just my opinion.
[b]EDIT 1:[/b] I am loving to hear that some us relic holders are still around. I think that when looking for a fresh VoG run on the forums that I need to start requesting for relic holders.
[b]EDIT 2:[/b] Just an observation that I've made that my relic holding bretheren can probably agree with. When holding the relic during the Atheon battle I have noticed a scary amount of guardians shooting oracles with non VoG weapons. In my opinion the only non VoG oracle disruptor weapon being used to destroy oracles should be "Super Good Advise" since it's essentially unlimited bullets on a heavy machine gun with no need to reload.
[b]EDIT 3:[/b] I think tonight I'm going to look for a group to run VoG with. Requirements will be maxed out lvl 30 VoG raid gear only. Oracle disruptor weapons only. Exceptions to that could be the Vex Mythoclast, Super Good Advise, Icebreaker, Truth, and Gjallarhorn. No Crota weapons. 2 Hunters, 2 Warlocks, and 2 Titans. Vault of Glass run in the purest form. I think it would be a fun nostalgic run.

I learned how to use relic when I was party leader at Templar to avoid being kicked. Was really fun and ex to use. We only wiped 1 time cuz I meat up on shield This was a month ago lol

I got a few grey hairs, but I'm still here! Not dead yet. I love me the relic. I'm protective and don't let anyone near it. But my team is ok with that lol

Last week for the first time I ran the relic at the Templar. I had ran it at Atheon before but was skeptical about the Templar. Funnily enough, I didn't realize most groups don't block the Templar from teleporting, and my teammates were surprised to see the Templars shield not disappear, because I blocked him. For my first time running relic, we were able to kill him without him teleporting.

I can run relic and sword. I don't know how some people can't do it, its the easiest part of any raid.

I'm a relic beast. I was asked to try it out one day, and loved it. Had to figure it out on the fly, but it makes the raid so much more engrossing.

2 RepliesI love wielding the relics. I went from using them at Gatekeeper to using them on Atheon to being swordbearer for CE. Makes me feel useful seeming I can't play as a Titan or a Warlock so I run 3 Hunters lol

Honestly VoG is harder in terms of individual/group responsibilities than CE. Btw pro tip to those that keep dying to Minotaur in Venus, use trigger, not melee, you don't need people throwing grenades or rockets.

For Atheon I've run the relic a lot in the past, but recently I've been running oracle duty with Super Good Advice. Now I'm always the first guy to rush into a portal when somebody says, "We need some help in here."

Always the relic holder for same reason. ORRRR some stupid little kids will argue for 10 minutes about it so I give in, they fail miserably and shut up about it lol

Personally, I think Templar,Gatekeeper, and Atheon are the funnest parts of the raid strictly because of the relic(s).Either way i really don't do VOG anymore but when i'm feeling bored or in a good mood i help people on normalmode (The Struggle) and hardmode. Sometimes i do what a random once did to me to others to help them learn to use the relic....force them to use for an hour and a half until they got it down(sometimes they leave other times people want to learn), Honestly though without his help i probably wouldn't be as good at using the relic as i am now. But now i'm just rambling so all in all still using the relic whenever i feel like doing VOG, glad to see so many old raiders using the relic still :).

I used to hate relic holding until one time, everyone died except me and the other relic holder so I had to pick it up. We defended like there was no tomorrow (which of course was true) and I felt amazing after. It was my best destiny experience and now I love it. Then i moved on to being the relic guy during Atheon as well. VOGMASTERRAID

I relic but now I rarely do VOG and I like to give others chances except doing gatekeeper, I always grab relic since players won't

I just learned it a couple days ago. Every raid I did others insisted on using it because they were experienced, never gave me a shot even though I read up on how to use it. Then I went into a raid where nobody knew relic, and I finally got to use it and it went well. I love using the relic now.

Whoever hasn't used the relic In Destiny hasn't had a slice of life (destiny life that is). You guys remember doing the sword of Crota mission for the first time? Same feeling for me every time I use aegis in VoG

1 ReplyI've never been through the vault of glass. I want to. Just not enough time for gaming to then devote a day with my group of online friends to try and learn what to do. Is hard enough getting 3 people on, let alone 6. Matchmaking would help I think. Cue the responses moaning about AFK and low levels looking to get carried...

Day one players probably don't raid much anymore. I personally only do the nightfall on one character and play crucible since I already have all the exotics and raid gear

Unlocking hard by doing normal doesn't change a thing. People can do normal 1 time without having to use the relic.

Iv been running relic and sword since day one of releases, and still always love to run them both, also very good at both (kill crota in two swords HM as warlock). :)
