Petition For More Varied and Permanent Crucible Gametypes

In my experience with Destiny, many players are upset with the lack of unique game types in the Crucible. The vast majority of what we have now all seem to be slightly modified versions of the classic Team Deathmatch game type. For example: In Clash, you kill your opponents for points. In Control, you fight over three zones that give you a modifier for points earned when killing opponents. Skirmish is a smaller, more team-oriented version of Clash. Salvage and Combined Arms are the only really unique modes, but even they are lacklustre. The points earned for either capturing a Relic or disabling your opponents probe in a game of Salvage are almost negligible, and it is considerably easier to disarm a probe than it is to arm one. And Combined Arms is simply Clash on the larger maps, with vehicles and more frequent Heavy Ammo drops. [i][b]What many of us would like to see are more varied, objective-based, unique and fun game types available in the Crucible. [/b][/i] Some of my personal suggestions are as follows: - [i]Capture the Flag[/i]: CTF has been a staple game type in past Bungie games, as well as in many other shooters, for many years. It's fun. It's fast paced, and it's familiar. In my opinion, CTF would work perfectly in Destiny. The verticality present in the maps and the classes unique movement abilities would work wonderfully for Capture the Flag. Additionally; there are already flags used during the Crucible entry cinematic, and as markers for Control points. - [i]King of the Hill[/i]: another FPS staple; there are few ways Bungie could choose to spin this. It could be the classic KotH, a free-for-all game type where individuals fight over a moving zone, and earn points for the duration that they are inside it uncontested. It would also be neat to see a team-based KotH variant, with teams earning points for each person inside the zone, potentially with multipliers for each person accumulating points simultaneously. Now; the Hill would be a hotspot for AOE Supers such as Fist of Havok or Nova Bomb, so measures might need to be put in place to limit or delay the amount of Supers used on the people attempting to acquire points via the Hill. - [i]The Hunt[/i]: similar to Halo's Infection or Crysis 3's Hunter Mode. A single player starts of as the Alpha Wraith. The Alpha Wraith is a Guardian that has been corrupted by the Darkness, and is given permanent invisibility, the infamous Sword of Crota, and a slight movement speed reduction. They attempt to hunt and kill the remaining Guardians. Any Guardians that are killed are consumed by the Darkness, and become Wraiths themselves. They do not suffer from the Alpha's movement speed reduction, but start at 3/4 health. If all Guardians are consumed, the Wraiths win, and Darkness prevails. If the Guardians can last a set amount of time, or if at any point the Alpha Wraith is killed, the Guardians emerge victorious. - [i]Sparrow Races[/i]: this might be better suited to a PVE activity, but whatever. We need it to be an official thing. (All proposed game type names and rules are subject to change based on Community input) If enough of the Destiny Community voices it's support, it will be much easier to bring these concerns, issues, and suggestions to Bungie's attention. If this post is able to accumulate a large number of supporters I may move it to #Feedback.     I'd love to see neutral bomb assault. I always enjoyed that game. Have the "bomb" in the middle with both teams fighting for it. First one to arm the bomb in the others base wins. You could have a spawn timer and set the spawn points a bit away from the bases.

  • Just because you want does not make it a need or something that has to be done ever by them. CTF is not a staple of fps, for not everyone plays it or likes it only certain types of players do. Does not meant it is a staple of fps just because you like it. King of the Hill is not a staple for again not everyone likes it or plays it only certain types do. which does not ever make it a staple of fps games. Just because those modes were in past games does not mean that all new fps games ever have to have them or need them ever. players need to stop expecting things to stay the same all the time and just be clones of each other.

            I want to see a Warzone game type. Back in the golden age of Gears of War, the most common game type was Warzone. Over time an influx of gamers from other FPS games has caused it to revert to TDM. I was personally a huge fan of Warzone and it's easily implemented in Destiny. Here's the breakdown: - Two teams of six. - Revives enabled. - When the revive timer expires, as in Clash, instead of respawning you cannot respawn and are dead until the end of the match. - Match ends when one team is entirely dead... or both teams full-revive when one team is entirely dead, with the 'winning' team getting a point for some sort of 'best 2/3' situation or 'first to reach 5 points' type scenario. - No supers. No heavy ammo drops. (not part of this game-type really but for adapting it to Destiny it's kind-of important that a single super or rocket launcher spree not be able to win a game) I like this game type for a number of reasons but primarily because it creates some unique situations, such as a standoff at some choke point, or a single player on your team coming back from behind and killing all 5 opponents. It favors those that can employ group strategy and apply teamwork. It fell out of favor on GoW games, I believe, because people dislike having to wait after dying in PvP... but it was always the most fun for me. What do you think OP?
