Proof that Word of Crota > Fatebringer
Edit: Please read edit 5 before going on about firefly on FB. I know what it can do, and that's only situational, usually on thrall alone, not every other enemy.
So I decided to do a little field test, using both handcannons, to find out which one did most damage.
The test ran was on my Hunter at lvl. 32.
Both WoC and FB are maxed (Pictures shown).
Both handcannons do not have explosive rounds on (to better record damage output).
Enemies were loaded on "The Archive" mission at lvl. 30.
Results:
Fatebringer Precision Damage: [b]1505[/b]
Word of Crota Precision Damage: [b]1540[/b]
Word of Crota > Fatebringer

Edit 2: As for my personal preference, WoC for CE Raid against Majors, AND VoG against minotaur shields. I prefer Atheon's Epilogue for Voidburn nightfalls. Fatebringer for everything else, that outlaw+ chain if woe × 3 is clutch.
Edit 3: 184 replies and counting, surprisingly lots more people prefer WoC than I thought, pretty cool!

Firefly/Outlaw > Anything. That's all I'm saying. Don't care if it hits less damage. I can't play PVE with out it.

When you add in Firefly to the mix, it's not tough to realise why a lot of people choose Fatebringer over Word of Crota. I would only use Word of Crota in hard mode Crota's End and Void burn Nightfalls over Fatebringer.

2 RepliesThe fire rate is much faster with the woc to the fate bringer. I am loving the woc with explosive rounds. Range is still good. That said, I only have 1 woc and 2 fatebringers so I will still be using them too.

1 ReplyI believe you would only get true results against a lv 32 enemy , reason why because if your lv 32 facing lv 30's you'll more than likely hit a damage cap regardless the dps of the weapon.

Word of Crota should come with a 15 round magazine, and then have the Phantom Gift perk. Then it would actually seem beneficial and unique. I know that's a larger mag than any other HC is able to have but it's a Raid weapon and Phantom gift blows right now. Being able to have a massive magazine size would make this gun seem way more interesting and unique in my opinion.

Fatebringer is good for ads and weaker enemies like dregs, vandals, captains and stuff in the same tier. It sucks for ultras and bosses though, oh wait I have the black hammer and gjallarhorn for those

Then maybe I would choose WoC>Fatebringer overall. But numbers aside Fatebringer outclasses the WoC against most everything (hive majors and void shield excluded).

With a 35 damage difference, would you rather have the enemy explode and instant reload or have 3 extra bullets in a clip....

1 ReplyWhy the endless comparisons between these two hand cannons? They are not even the most powerful in the game. The Devil You Know and others, are just as powerful as Fatebringer, why not draw a comparisons with those guns?

Of course the word of Crota is going to do more damage it maxed is 331 the fatebringer is 300 maxed. This is how you no the fatebringer is the best handcannon hand down because it always someone compare the fatebringer with another handcannon.. Side note if the rise the max damage of the fatebringer to 331 what now??

Moral of the story both are awesome but one will always stand above the other
