Personally, I think that Destiny (at its current state) would be massively broken by trading. I just want to see why others think trading would break the game.

Trading = people will sell Gjallarhorn for $10. And guardians will buy. /next
-
WTS Gjallarhorn $20 usd. That's why trading would suck.

1 ReplyWho would be playing if you could just easily get whatever you wanted? Considering all the people that get 5+ of the same exotics. Nothing would have any value so none of it would be worth anything trading. And the game would be empty after a month.
-
1 ReplyYeah it would be to easy. I want to get my stuff the real way
-
Anyone with an extensive friends' list will have all exotics within a very minimal timeframe.

18 RepliesEdited by Vercingetorix07: 2/19/2015 4:50:23 PMThe only "trading" that should be implemented should be when players reach the end of a PvE activity (Raid, Heroic, Nightfall), at the rewards screen each player can enter a "reward swap" screen if they wish, where BOTH players must agree on the swap. If not enough people enter or agree on any swapping (1 or none), the game simply proceeds to orbit as usual and rewards are locked in and handed out. The reason why this would work is that players all work together on these PvE events and as a result, have earned a reward. There is no justification, however, for a SPECIFIC reward (i.e. your effort was worth 10 shards, lol) so trading among teammates at the conclusion of a mission is still providing players with earned gear as they helped get it for a player in the first place. Furthermore, this has no impact on the loot table, which can (and frequently does) give all 3 players crap "rewards". In these cases, you're out of luck. This trading system would be to address moments where your friend gets a duplicate exotic that you desperately need. You helped him/her get it, so it can be just as much yours as it is his/hers. EDIT: Glad to see this idea is popular among some people. Might make this its own topic if it becomes popular enough. The only other thing I would add is a more specific implementation of the concept: At the rewards screen, the fireteam leader cannot initiate orbit until at least 2/3 (or 5/6 for raids) of the team has opted out of the swap option. X - Swap B(Circle)-Decline Swap Y(Triangle)- Orbit, for example. (This is to prevent trolling at end so the team can proceed to orbit if no trades are wanted by the vast majority.) If the swap is selected, each player will see the list of remaining players (just like a rewards screen who opted for swaping) with the given loot they currently are about to receive. That player can select ONE player and offer ALL their rewards drop to the other. That player must also select the SAME player to confirm. The players then swap ALL drops with one another and wait for any other players to finish trading. Once all trading/ declination is complete, the fireteam leader can proceed to orbit manually. ---- In the case of disconnect/ early leave players, the swap screen will only show those STILL in the fireteam. No one can join a fireteam in trade (just like a "loading screen"). The reason why players would need to swap all their loot to the other person is due to the fact that the inventory system in Destiny most likely cannot handle mixing around parts of a loot drop to each player. It needs to be kept simplified to maintain the chance of bugs low. The last thing we want is to lose all of our loot after we trade and neither player gets anything!

Because everyone would have every gun within a matter of weeks or less.

Instead of dismantaling raid gear drops I already have I could trade it to my friend who just got the game for white armor. Give him some of my 100 radiant shards while I'm at it. He's level 32 and hasnt beat Crota once. Broken
-
You won't get much money for it....
-
You would have those no lifers with different xbox accs trading stuff onto one acc, basically like having 4+ characters. I think trading should b added within your fireteam of the game you got the object you want to trade off also exotic for exotic, legendary for legendary, armor for armor, and materials for materials (ascendent to radiant /shards to energy)
-
The game isnt large enough and very little content. Doesnt make sense to trade, but the reward system is very -blam!-ed
-
The basic premise of Destiny is its a loot based game. People play for PVP and for PVE to an extent, but we really play to get loot and upgrade our characters. Trading wouldn't break the game if it was capped. Say for example you could trade non-raid, non exotic, weapons and armor. You could trade materials for materials. Trading uncapped would break the game, as it would allow players to acquire all the best gear faster than developers could put it out. Once everything is maxed and capped, players have no need to continue playing.

because youll end up with a farm of chinese kids playing destiny for the sole purpose of flipping gear on ebay.
-
Without a currency that actually has value, the trade system would resort to the barter system like a bunch of savages.
-
THink back to the original days of Diablo 3, remember the auction house. Enough reason to hate sharing/trading/selling gear for a lifetime.

1 Replythe game would get old and dry way to fast #Fireteamchat

2 RepliesEdited by Corrick II: 2/19/2015 5:36:25 PMWhat would you trade a Gjallarhorn for? A Blackhammer? What about the people who have neither? What about the people who have a vault full of exotics no one wants to trade for? Trading wouldn't work in this game because there aren't enough items to trade. And those who do have coveted items would be trading among themselves and everyone else would be just as equally left out as they are now. I play games to get away from the real world, not simulate it.
-
2 RepliesBecuase most of use only need to do one or two trades then we'd be complete. Trading needs an economy and Destiny doesn't have one.
-
I would max guns and sell them for real money through my PayPal. Just saying.
-
4 RepliesIn a day people would have every exotic. Hell I'd give all my spares to some noob in tower just for the hell of it.
-
before you know it, everyone will have ghorns for days. maybe instead of trading, a strange coin auction system would work better. pay a small fee of 1-3 strange coins + some glimmer to enter up to 3 items for up to 72 hours into the auction bank, and other people can buy your stuff for standard xur price. itd work great. not being too OP or anything.
-
1 ReplyBecause then bungie would have to assign values to each gun and basically officially say which guns are the best.
-
It would de value guns. I have recieved 5 gallyhorns and 5 hawkmoons. I would have given all of my extras away to my friends.
-
I dont think exotics should be able to be traded. I agree with what someone said though. There are just not enough items in the game to have trading be worth it. There could be a roll system at the end of the strikes and raids where you throw in your roll on what item you want. The highest roll gets the item and if you dont need the item you dont have to roll for it.

2 RepliesSo people don't start buying crap from each other via PayPal.
