The Unspoken Code Of Iron Banner
1. If you're a scrub, don't play Iron Banner. It's unfair to your teammates to have to carry you game in and game out.
2. If you're under level 30, you better be -blam!-ing good.
3. Don't use the McDonalds connection from 3 blocks away.
4. Use your primary for at least 1 kill per match.
5. Thorn is for pussies and bad kids, but we can't stop you from using it.
6. See rule 5, replace thorn with any fusion rifle (yes, including Vex)
7. The machine gun headshot bounty is there for a reason. [hint, hint]
8. Stop camping, you're probably just hurting your team by spawn trapping them.
9. No T-bagging. It's discraceful and disrespectful to your fellow guardian.
10. Don't quit. Quitting not only proves that you're trash, but can screw your team over, and that's not fair to them.
11. (Optional) Play with a fireteam! Playing with your friends can boost your morale and ultimately lead to better play, and a better experience.
Have fun and remember, there's only one path to victory guardians!

I can't put my finger on why crucible seems so toxic to me. I've had fun with competitive games in the past, but with destiny, I end up thinking "that was cheap!" after the majority of the times I'm killed. Mostly because it's either a shotgun, fusion rifle, or a super. I don't get mad at bring sniped or killed with a Vanquisher. Other PvP games, I have no problem with saying, "well done!" after a good kill. Destiny crucible just feels like one cheap shot after another. Its presence in the game also ruined the RPG elements of PvE by making character builds shallow in the name of "balance" for PvP.

If you don't know how to avoid dying to the vex or a fusion rifle you shouldn't be playing Iron Banner. The tricks are: Vex- mid-long ranges it is shit, has slower travel time and low range. Move side to side and you will out shoot it 90% of the time. Fusion rifles- don't stand still, jump when you hear them charging. This make it super hard for them to kill you in one shot. Thorn- is a bit strong, but isn't absurd unless the player using it is very good. (this will be getting a bit of a nerf when the weapon stats update is in place) number 9 while I agree that t-bagging is a dick move, there is a fun fact a lot of people don't know about. If you t-bag, dance, sit, point or wave you will actually get a boost in the speed you capture points:P

These aren't unspoken rules. Iron banner enables level advantages and has serious rewards, meaning people are going to try harder and imbalance is innate. It's the one event that I get to put my tryhard pants on for, so shove your arbitrary rules up your ass.

Edited by LtDan: 2/17/2015 5:49:06 PMNew rule - Since the goal is to win, you use any weapon or skill that gives you an advantage. If that is thorn (which I have) or Vex (which I don't) so be it. I am an average player at best, but I expect the good players to use their best weapons as well. If they don't for some rules that you made up, then that is their decision, but I won't hold it against them if they use fusion rifles, shotguns, Vex, Suros, Thorn, or any other thing that they can excel with. If you don't like a certain gun or play-style, don't use it and learn to fight it then. With that, I wish you and all of the other guardians well and I hope to see you in the IB!
