Because they, or we, the players, like full customization options. Also, if you couldn't make a girl character, it would be sexist.

3 RepliesCause why not? (Don't have any, just don't see why it's an issue). The character's on screen don't represent you physically anyway. Unless your a robot, giant smurf, or have superpowers; in which case I apologize. It's a game. Why even worry about the avatars: when the moon has an undead problem, mars is a war zone, Venus is being turned into an evil computer, and the last survivors of humanity are all huddled (for safety) beneath Chuck norris' remaining testicle?

Time to come out of the closet, if a guy making a female character in a video game bugs you that much, then you have some serious underlying issues. Most guys that make female characters aren't so insecure that making a female character would make them question their sexuality, if you want your character list to be a sausagefest go ahead...

This is such a bizarre phobia that screams: I'm insecure. The unspoken accusations or in the very least suspicions of some sort of deviancy. It's a -blam!-ing video game. Women exist. Some people play differently than you do. I have a female Titan because I already had two males and the idea tickled me. I don't suddenly become gay when I log onto that character (I wake up that way *rimshot*). It's just something different to do. I can play a game without pretending I'm the person I control. You should try it some time, kid. Every world doesn't need to revolve around you. The only thing weird about playing a chick is a higher than average invite rate from dudes like yourself who envision me to be an actual woman.

Why would I defy genetics to make a character that doesn't share the same chromosomes as I do? Simple, my video game characters are not supposed to be a picture perfect reflection of me in the real world. They're CHARACTERS in a FICTIONAL universe. We have choices in-game to be a human, a robot and a purple skinned weirdo, because I'm a Caucasian male are you going to stand there and tell me that I have to be a white guy in Destiny? Of course not that would be stupid. If I want to be a robot I can because that guardian isn't me, its a character I made in a video game. The same can be applied to gender in games, maybe the character I'm playing isn't a boy, maybe she is a girl. Oh my god, I just broke the balance of the universe! Actually no, the only thing that is skewed is the views of the prepubescent gamers who get a stiffy over seeing female players and are butthurt that many of us are actually male. It doesn't mean I'm mentally warped and wish I was a woman, it doesn't mean that I wish I was a toaster if I decide to play an Exo either. Please for future reference, please be a little more understanding and think before you spaz on people in a game. Games are fantasy, they are an escape from reality. Video games would be boring as hell if I had to be me in my fantasy realm too.
