Mine is hearing about this guy's theory that everything around you is a simulation, and every thing you do, say, touch, taste and smell is simulated by a computer your whole life.

That theory is just a reinvention of Rene Descartes' "The Demon" from the 1600s. The premise is that there is a demon who does nothing but mislead you, and the only thing in this world you can be sure of is your thinking.
