Is the Invective shotgun worth the hassle?
So I've started 'A Dubious Task' without first checking the attached wiki and I've suddenly realised that there is a PvP step involved. Apparently I need to achieve a +25 kill or assist / deaths rating in the crucible, the problem being I am not very good at PvP. There is potential for me to fall into a pit of negatives because I usually suffer more deaths than kills.
So the question, is the Invective shotgun worth the hassle?
NOTE: Thanks for all the tips. I've done this 3 times now and the hardest part seems to be farming glimmer.

14 RepliesHad this dam bounty for ages and seriously considering binning it off. I suck at PvP, playing a lot at the moment due to IB, and the best I've gotten to is 14 out of 25. I know a few if the things in my PvP game I need to fix but I think I'm just always gonna be a bullet, knife, fist and space magic magnet.

I have it. I don't use it all the time though. It dose come in handy when dealing with ammo modifiers in nightfall and poe.im not sure of the name it's the one that only drops ammo for the guns your not using.

It melts Full auto Regens ammo I have 3 It is expensive though

Yes its worth it. Never have to worry about ammo in crucible and it has the same range as matador 64/ felwinters (w/out hammer forge). It shoots fast as hell to!

1 ReplyPlay a lot of crucible. Just go slightly above 1.0. Don't think about getting a kill every death but rather playing SMART. I hate when people play safe. You want to play smart and fight fights that you have a good chance of winning aka behind cover or they don't see you. Play control.

It has high damage and is very dangerous. I would get it and only use it for pve. Not pvp. Besides, it's nice to collect exotic weapons and if you don't like it, you could always scrap it for an exotic shard.

Yes. I use it all the time in PVE. Completely destroys majors.

what hassle? takes like an hour to complete from beg to end. 2nd fastes exotic bounty next to SGA

1 ReplyYou can't go negative in the pvp portion it stops at 0 if you have a shitty game. It's not too bad. Just hang back, don't rush, and get one or two shots on everyone to collect assists. Pretty easy.

Dude, I'm really terrible at PVP. Took a couple of matches, just hang back, pick your shots and it will happen.

Yes it's worth it, that ammo regeneration is more helpful than you think.

It's so useful in prison of elders, pvp, vog confluxes and forming the spire and gatekeeper sections [spoiler]because it's a [b]shotgun[/b] that [b]regens ammo[/b][/spoiler]

Edited by SREDISKRAD: 6/8/2015 11:14:19 AMK+A/D Go around, shoot enemies while in the presence of allies and, if you only get 3-5 kills, you might have gotten 3-5 more assists, which is doubling your K+A/D meaning you might get positive more than you think. As for if its worth it? I say yes. The regent ammo (4/20seconds) is decent and the range on it is pretty high. Impact isn't excellent, but it will suffice with the high ROF and high stability. Just be careful when you reload it. All in all its a good shotgun, worth the getting, even if you use it in PvP.

All it's really good for is your collection it's great to use but not worth the exotic slot

Assists count. So if you have 5 kills, 7 assists and 10 deaths you earn a positive 2 from that game. Just keep going positive like that and you should be able to get it pretty quick. Invective is the only bounty I keep doing because I feel like it's the easiest.

Crucible kills can spread of multiple games, its not a +25 kd ratio, you just need 25 kills more than death over however many games it take, im not great at pvp and i did it in about 10games

The PvP portion is not that bad. It took me three days. And that was playing an hour of crucible a day. It was far easier than Thorn.
