Here is the gun the kid had. Look, looks realistic. Also looked, it was taken with a flash, ergo this incident happened at night. What does this mean? It means it's damn near impossible to tell it wasn't a real gun at a distance, and according to another user this happened in a gang neighbourhood. So a kid carrying an (to everyone else) AK around openly, that's going to be taken seriously, ergo the police appeared. They ordered the kid to drop the gun, twice. He didn't. You can't wait forever, or wait for the guy with the gun to open fire before returning fire. It's protocol. In the end, the kid should have dropped the gun
