1 ReplyI wouldn't believe everything you read tbh, I could say I'm a pilot and make 150k a year and fuk bitches errrrynight, doesn't make it true.

6 RepliesBecause the Americans are so patriotic. They love to tell people they are in the army and the people love it when someone says they are in the army. The general attitude of British or Australians is different.

1 Reply61 year old vet and kid at heart here. Shout out to all active and veterans. Thank you

6 RepliesMC over here, I'm playing destiny cause it's a fun strategy game, the same could be said for wow and Diablo

12 RepliesAnd the reason you've probably not many British army is we have a different attitude to US Forces, inherently we don't talk about our service, mainly due to our geographical location, a history of protecting our identity due to terrorist threat in recent history from the IRA and most recently extreme Islamists.

3 RepliesI just know I'll take some hate for saying this but I don't believe 1/10th of those that say they actively serve or have served , do. The same as I don't believe 1/10th of most things people tell me or I read. I have been around long enough to know there are a lot of people on the internet that are just full of crap. I have all the respect in the world for those who do serve. I was the first in my family in 200 years that couldn't serve (for medical reasons). Though I applied twice. Those who serve & keep us safe are heroes. Those who pretend are worse than cowards. You all know who you are. VtxR-PS3

Gaming as a whole is becoming an understructure to the US military. On my last deployment MW2 had just come out and it's what the bulk majority of us did when not on a mission.

1 ReplyEdited by sergeantawesome: 1/25/2015 3:21:20 AMI started playing games when I was about 5 and continue to play. They are a great way to get your mind off of things. I am no longer in, but know video games are popular regardless of your profession and loved by a lot of service members. Lots of madden tournaments let me tell you...

1 ReplyI'm guessing if your in the military a sci-fi shooter would be a lot funner to play then a modern military shooter. It probably annoys the crap out of them between the inaccuracies and over dramatic narrative of games like CoD. If your job was to eat bacon all day you probably wouldn't want to spend your downtime eating bacon. You'd eat bacon with badass super powers.

2 RepliesAustralia and Britian don't have a military

1 ReplyGaming online, especially group gaming is a sanity saver for us. It let's me interact with friends back home, my gaming rig is one of those suitcase deals so it's incredibly portable. Also most of the activities we used to do are so heavily controlled gaming is safer. I am living in a barracks currently due to being in training and out if the 20 rooms I have been in on my floor 18 of them had game systems and all of them had computers.

I'm in the Royal Marines Navy Seal section and I'm a Destiny player cos of my deadly U-boat RAF Skillllz

8 RepliesHmmm let's see.... 1. Because it's a good way to connect with friends back home that play. 2. It's a great way to take your mind off the stress of work once you get home. Trust me, there is stress. A lot of it. 3. If you can't find friends at your base (yes, sometimes this can happen. Happened to me at Cannon) it's an awesome tool to socialize with and enjoy yourself. And above all else, 4. If I can get shot at, bombed on, targeted, run through the mud and flat out disrespected at work any given day, I'll be damned if someone judges me for coming home and playing a video game.

1 ReplyI'm sure you have played other games where an abundance of military people play they just don't announce it or aren't given the opportunity to.
-
British Army here, although has no bearing on why I play the game, not normally into games but love this for some reason.

6 RepliesEdited by JHarv: 1/24/2015 7:55:39 PMbecause when you're on medical leave with some pussy stress disorder and milking the system for all it's worth, you can afford to play video games.

2 RepliesAnother gamer that hates 'murica... Did you watch American sniper and feel discomfort?

Just wanna give a quick shout out to everyone serving a huge thank you for keeping the peace. I'm not from the US but can appreciate any servicemen of any nation for protecting their nation and that anything of righteous constitution.

3 RepliesWith the exception of maybe 3 people, the only people I game with are my buddies I served and deployed with. Remembering old times and how much shit used to suck while out on mission makes the trivial shit back here look tiny. So yeah.
