How is it that I open my destiny 2 app, and you feel the need to further shove marathon into my face? It’s already bad enough that you essentially bailed on Destiny for marathon, which based on steam numbers, is doing totally beyond amazing and successful /s.
Now, I know that steam numbers are only a portion of the full picture. However, I highly doubt that console numbers make steam pale in comparison. You’ve abandoned Destiny 2 and its fans and players, just to bet all of your chips on marathon. In doing so, you gutted your Destiny teams, and you made Destiny an afterthought at best. And then you have the gall to shove marathon bullshit into both the game AND my destiny 2 app. I don’t want to see you peddling your bullshit unsuccessful game, shoving it in my face at every turn.
You’ve been piss poor in your communication of what’s ahead. You waited until literally, essentially, the release of marathon to finally update players as to the delay of the expansion. And even with that, you gave us nothing.
I left Destiny before awhile after final shape, because it wasn’t going anywhere really. I skipped edge of fate because I was essentially gone and done with the constant flip flopping and general disregard and support for the game that made you after halo. The one who’s unique and successful franchise kept you alive for over 10 years. I finally got suckered into coming back for renegades, and I had a great time. The praxic blade was so much fun, and it felt surprisingly natural, at least for me, to be in this world. It made me feel like it’s been missing from the game and it surprised me with the fact that it felt disconnected enough from Star Wars to not just feel like a gimmick. Again, at least to me. But that was the extent of it.
At this time, based on the numbers, which again, on steam, are only a portion of the picture. But again, console numbers can’t be much better which means you might have maybe 30-40k players tops. But I think that’s being EXTREMELY generous. Keep ignoring your players to focus on a game that I highly doubt will be anywhere the success you think/thought it would be compared to you supporting Destiny better. I’m all for you expanding your portfolio to more than just Destiny. I encourage it. But do it in a way that isn’t gutting your cash cow and instead taking all those resources to put into a game with an unproven track record and quite frankly in a sector that’s a pretty specific slice of the overall game types available.
Extraction shooters don’t really seem to be widely successful in the way that draws in the kind of player count that justifies your all in approach like you have. Arc raiders as of now is very successful. But I think it suffers from the same problem that this will. It feels like it’s hard to really get anywhere beyond “get some stuff, survive, and bring that stuff home to get stronger to try and do higher difficulty stuff to get more stuff. But in the process, you risk losing it all. I just can’t personally see that going very far like you’ve gotten out of Destiny. At least in my personal experience.
I’ve tried both arc raiders and marathon, and I just couldn’t feel any kind of draw that keeps me wanting to come back at all. I know others are obviously into it, it resonates with them, and as of right now, arc raiders is doing very well. That’s great. Different things work for different people. Other people can love other genres and types of games. That’s a very healthy part of gaming. But again, to gut the game that made you after halo, carried you for over a decade, and has the potential to still be there if marathon fails, it just isn’t an intelligent or rational decision, in my opinion.
I can only sum the whole thing up in 7 (your favorite number) words.
Stop being beyond tone-deaf. Get a clue.

This is how a post should be written. He is saying what the silent majority is thinking. THANKS!

Whomever is at the helm of this company, will steer it unapologetically into the abyss, and will not stop, even when the wheels have come off, they will poke their legs through the floor, lift up the proverbial vehicle by the hands, and keep walking, until total mechanical failure You are wasting your breath, though your courage is admirable

1 ReplyWell said OP, but you know you're gonna get shot down by the Marathon mob now that it's sunk in that Destiny has literally finished. It's now a new witch-hunt for people who don't like Marathon.

Splendid write up well done, could not agree more!

Edited by Racket UK: 3/18/2026 6:18:14 PMBoth lol, tone deaf, and stupid. Maraflop lol, is getting an update map, which is harder than any other part of the game, it costs currency to get in, you will die more often, and will lose your gear more often, according to a video i watched today. Hopefully maraflop flops very quickly, i can see it driving more players away, rather than getting more players playing, bungo, are brain dead.

they're both its hard to believe but its definitely both

To answer the questions in your title. Both, tone deaf and stupid. I mean it is free advertising but enough people have complained that by now they understand it is NOT welcome. So yes, tone deaf for not listening. That sound familiar. Also stupid for continuing to burn bridges where there are still a few surviving.

Entitled nonsense. Bungie's website, Bungie's app, Bungies games

1 ReplyAt this point they should rename the app to "bungie" of something like that

13 RepliesYou don’t want to see Marathon stuff on the D2 app, but you post about Marathon in the D2 forum section? 🤷🤦. Make it make sense.
-
I saw the news on the app and thought, "oh yeah, need to see how the forums are taking it". Didn't disappoint, but -blam!- I'm not reading that...guessing it's not a fan favorite, feel like I pretty much summed up the post.
-
Lol and they haven't even added the Marathon "runner" skins to the store, yet!
