EZ W's For A Directionless Developer

No Roadmap? End of an era? Need to keep milking this playerbase for years to fund your exploded Crayola coated, white noise extraction shooter? Here are some EZ W's so your billion dollar flagship, sole profit IP can fund 12yo's screaming about losing non-binary god-tier loot forever. #1. Delete the Portal. Just do it. Streamlining is necessary for a playerbase that's undergoing dissolution and dispersion from this IP, but MORE importantly than the evacuation is the DILUTION. Players are spread too thinly across this franchise. And what's next for the few remaining is extended queue times for simple activities. Return us all to the previous system of Pinnacles, where we are all forced into the same queues, thank you. #2. Reduce PVP options. This is again harping on player dilution amongst the queues, but we simply don't need 97 different gamemodes for PVP. 6v6 Control and 3v3 Elim are the ONLY modes that should exist. The pattern should be 1 week Trials; 1 week Iron Banner; 1 week Comp; 1 week Casual. Rinse and repeat. And while I know some Guardian on here who gets off on Mayhem is going to lose it over my suggestion, reducing player dilution in this manner does 3 things- Faster queues. More accurate SBMMR. More competitive matches. All of these are W's for the playerbase. Trust me, they'll quickly forget Mayhem or Rift ever existed when they aren't going on a 15 streak loss thanks to inaccurate SBMMR. #3. Optional Matchmaking for EVERYTHING Fireteam Finder is great in theory, -blam!- in practice. I have spent infinitely more time trying to assemble teams for activities than generally in the activities themselves. The fact that some of the Portal has matchmaking and some does not is just wildly irritating. Blow the doors off this fallacy and give us matchmaking across the board. Raids. Dungeons. NFs. With The Portal deleted, this should be a quick QoL fix for the playerbase. Again, it's optional, but as dilution rears its ugly head and increases, this is going to become a massive necessity. #4. Reprise Old Dungeons You've already gone and reprised Raids. So what's the big deal here? This is extending the shelf life of the game and keeping players at the teat for milk. Shattered Throne. Pit. Prophecy. They all need Master Modes. Additionally, the former two need reconfigured Loot pools. #5. Reprise Old Locations Europa. The Dreaming City. The Moon. The EDZ. The Cosmodrome. These incredible locations could use an update. Mostly to their Loot Pools. Makes ZERO sense to just let players buy world drops from Banshee, when they could've easily been reincorporated into these planetary systems and tied to Public Events and Patrols. Gives us purpose to explore, work with random Guardians, and get back to the heart of Destiny in the process. A real MMO vibe. Variks and The Lectern could have their Loot Pools quickly overhauled. Devrim and Shaw could be programmed with their own pools. This isn't about stimulating new players. It's about retaining the veterans and diehards and diversifying the player experience. The game shouldn't just be Raids, Dungeons and Strikes. And with The Portal, it really just feels like whatever is outlined in that is what's to play. #6. 6 Player Patrols Something that NEVER made sense to me- Why do we have Raids & Arenas where we can stack with 6, but more casual activities like Patrols and Public Events only allow FTs of 3? It's long irked me we can't stack with 6 and run. And while I'm sure reprogramming for this would be nightmare, it's a simple idea that should be implemented. Conclusion There's plenty of life left in this franchise, but not without incentivizing retention and reducing dilution. The Portal seriously exacerbates player dilution. I keep harping on this because I am serving as a red flag to ALL Guardians here- Do not be surprised when you're waiting +10mins for activities to queue before 2026 ends. Dilution has started. And dilution will only get worse over time if left unaddressed. There is no roadmap. There is no plan to save Destiny the Franchise. This plan doesn't provide either. It simply extends the shelf life for those of us remaining. Gives us something new to do with low effort. Paired with the rest of the game, for many this would serve us for a long time.

 • A MASSIVE 100% YES FROM ME! Remember in the beginning of D1 when patrols were so important that there were a couple of websites which would announce when and where they going to pop up and we'd all rush to them! Now-a-days no one cares and 'if' you play it you often do it solo now. And for what? Well with the exception of some special seasonal event and we are mining for baking goods or something. That's the way of the entire game now! :(
