This season, with Unstoppable Bow enabled in the artifact, I tried multiple times to stun Unstoppable Champions using Le Monarque, and it never worked.
Test conditions:
– ADS
– Full draw
– Holding the arrow briefly to trigger the Unstoppable Shot window
– Multiple attempts at different ranges
Result: Unstoppable Champions are not stunned.
With the same artifact perk:
– Pre Astyanax IV (legendary bow) consistently gains Unstoppable Shot and stuns correctly.
So the issue doesn’t seem to be Unstoppable Bow itself, but Le Monarque specifically.
Most likely cause:
Le Monarque has an intrinsic Overload behavior through its poison arrows.
This intrinsic effect appears to override the artifact-based Unstoppable Bow mechanic.
As soon as the arrow starts dealing damage, the game registers the hit as an
“Overload-type attack,” and the Unstoppable Shot state never fully activates.
In practice, this means:
– Using one weapon for two Champion types looks viable on paper
– But Le Monarque + Unstoppable Bow is not reliable
This is not user error:
– The same mechanic works on legendary bows
– Exotic weapons with intrinsic Champion traits conflict with artifact traits
On top of already restrictive and unfun anti-Champion weapon selections this season,
having theoretically valid combinations fail in practice due to intrinsic + artifact conflicts is extremely frustrating.
Hopefully the next season’s artifact arrives soon so we don’t have to keep playing around these kinds of mechanical conflicts.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Have you noticed similar behavior with other exotic bows?

2 RepliesPretty much if a weapon has an intrinsic unless it has a unique way to stun the game will not allow it to utilize the anti champ mods in the artifact. This isn't applied to everything but bungie does choose what can and can't be allowed to work. Case in point the Winterbite before they removed unstop could work with both the slow and freeze for 2 anti champs but bungie eventually made it so the melee wouldn't activate the unstoppable effect anymore. Eventually they removed unstop anyways so now it doesn't matter but its clear bungie didn't like it when a weapon could do more than 1 effect unless specifically allowed. An opposite of Winterbite is Conditional which used to only be allowed unstop but now allows both unstop and overload.

It has an intrinsic affinity for Overload and that overrides artifact affinity mods.

Hey there, your assumption is correct - an exotic with an intrinsic anti-champion ability such as Le Monarque, OR a keyword ability that is strong against a specific Champion type, such as Slow on Wicked Implement, is unable to gain the benefit from an anti-Champion mod. This is the way it has been since season 10, with the first example being Unstoppable Hand Cannon vs Eriana's Vow.
