Attuning to Old Loot

Ohhh woe is me, I've put together a strand Warlock build that would work perfectly with a Reciprocity + Attrition Orbs Adamantite heal frame auto rifle, but alas I didn't realize I would want this roll when I was getting one every 30 minutes back in episode Heresy. Well maybe Banshee will sell it someday, and maybe I can get reeeeeaally lucky and get it from Xur, and maybe I can wait for the weapon to inevitably be reprised, but those are not approaches I can actively engage in. This is loot that I'm willing to chase / grind for, but I have no way of doing so. My proposal: Let us attune to old loot. If a weapon no longer has a source (looking at you seasonal weapons), I would love a way to attune to it and have it replace one of my drops in a portal activity. This would solve so many problems: - Deleted a roll on an old gun that you end up needing later? Attune to the weapon. - Need a certain type of gun for your build that isn't present in the current loot pool? Just attune baby! - Got a whole bunch of guns cluttering up your vault that you're probably never going to use? Delete them, you can attune to them later dummy! - Got a frustratingly empty "Weapon Patterns" screen in collections? You know the drill! Issues I can see arising from this: Q: Why would I grind the new seasonal activity when I could just wait until it's over and attune to the weapon in a different piece of content? A: Weapons only become attunable 2 seasons after they release. Two seasons is not an arbitrary number. I chose it because if that was the case I could be grinding for my Adamantite right now. Q: This weapon is more than just the way it shoots to me, it symbolizes an experience I had, and I feel like other people being able to obtain it without taking part in that experience diminishes its value to me. A: Replace the seasonal icon in the top left with a new attunment icon so that the weapons are distinct. This doesn't fully solve the problem but I think for the benefits this system would provide it's worth the tradeoff. Q: What about weapons from endgame / very difficult content, or weapons who's exclusivity is part of their identify? I.e. legacy raids, Rite of the Nine, Rare seasonal weapons like submersion. A: You snooze you lose, they ain't attunable. Just a thought :) There are a lot of guns in this game I'm willing to grind for and the portal seems like the perfect opportunity to allow me to farm for them while still playing the same pool of content as everyone else.
