Edited by mikeyrox1234: 1/11/2026 2:35:55 AMWell, I’ve never been in a exact life or death situation but i did run towards something that potentially could have been one but it turned out to be a fluke - cant really go into detail. With that being said, I guess fight?

The one time I had a gun pointed to my head it was freeze. I wasnt playing with my life, and I followed my robbers instructions; it was humiliating, demasculating, and traumatic. I like to think I might have made a different choice if I had been a little braver, but it was hard to tell if the gun was real or not, and I was a kid working a convenience store. Hard to tell what I'd do if it happened again. Probably the same thing.

Uhhh, mine isn’t serious but would get me banned, it’s a four letter word that starts with F😂.
What’s your fight or flight response?
Situationally dependent.
-
Depends on the severity and familiarity of the threat and what's at my disposal.
-
1 ReplyA lot of variables. If im on the street and someone steps to me im fighting but if they had a knife id fly, if they had a gun id freeze.
-
As a child, fight. As an adult, freeze.
-
2 RepliesHard to say, as I haven’t been in any real life threatening situations, but I think fight? Maybe? I think everyone likes to say fight, though.

It depends on what I'm faced with; a guy with a gun, I'd probably freeze. Something like a bear, that sucker is decorating my living room floor or I'm decorating his.

does tripping your friend so you can run from the bear count as fight ?

Probably a toss between fight or freeze...iv been in a few fights when I was younger I was very scrappy in the school yard and beyond plus all the LARPing (broken bones were involved in a number of occasions) We played hard and I've had many hours at a gun club as well but after having had a few concussions I'm not as fast as I used to be....
