Am I the only one who dislikes the portal. It’s just so boring and bland. In my opinion I think it ruined what destiny was. The reason I fell in love with destiny was simply because it felt like a vast world with many possibilities.now it’s just a menu clicker and running caldera on repeat. Like I played destiny rising today and I’m having fun in patrols I see many other players doing public events so I’m it’s refreshing that the game feels alive but in destiny 2 it’s just empty and soulless

I take both stances: I like the portal and also miss the open world. I like being able to just drop into an activity with a minimum of menu hopping or hunting and pecking, it's nice for when I've got ten minutes to play and want to do something quick. I also miss things like Patrols and Public Events, I miss seeing other players out in the world, sharing an activity and social space with them. The portal is efficient, and I like that, but I do miss the less efficient side of things, too. I think it can be both. We've gotten something new that I like, but at the expense of the old. It would be cool to bring back something like the Bounty system that incentivized and rewarded doing varied activities. "Complete three Public Events for a Tier X weapon" would be fun. Just something to get us back out in the world.
